I have had the privilege of meeting Ralph when he was working on my neighbour's property across the street. I was impressed with the quality of the materials and the workmanship. The final results of the entrance, walkways and plantings were aesthetically pleasing, giving the home instant curb appeal. It appears that no matter how large or small the work, Ralph is ready to access a problem and offer suggestions. In my case, Ralph took the time to to repair a section of my flagstone retaining wall with the same care and precision given to larger projects. Thanks so much to Ralph and Cynthia for the great work you did in repairing the stonework at the front of our house including removing, cleaning and reinstalling as much of the stone as possible, reinforcing the structure as needed, and adjusting the slope of the walkway to ensure better drainage and less erosion due to buildup of water and ice. Ralph also installed a better draining system from the downspout at the side of the house and did an excellent job installing new stone between the walkway and our paved driveway. We're so pleased with the maintenance work that it makes us wish that we had known them in 2006 because we're sure that if they had done the original work, none of the subsequent maintenance and adjustments would have been necessary. This company did our driveway and front steps last year. We live in an area where all the driveways develop ruts really quickly and we'd had ruts in our old driveway also. We wanted it done right this time so we didn't need to fix it every couple of years. I've included the photo of Ralph standing next to the construction so you can see how far they dug down. Then they got top quality gravel and packed it in layers until it was like concrete. It's only been a year but the driveway has survived the winter and is completely solid and rut-free. Ralph also put a lot of effort into the design. I took some pictures to show how he integrated these beautiful stones into the stonework. He even hid the downspout. Ralph and Cynthia did an incredible job, transforming part of our backyard into a magical place. Our project was to create a good size fire pit area with a walkway to our garage. Ralph gave us various great ideas and suggestions on how to do it. The end result was much more than we ever had envisioned. We really appreciated Ralph's attention to details, he never stopped until everything was perfect in his eyes, some things we may never had noticed until he pointed it out. A couple of items were not discussed in the initial estimate, and was done without any additional cost. We hired Tough Oaks last summer to replace the old wooden stairs leading to our back yard door with stone patio and steps leading into our garden. Ralph and Cynthia were a delight to work with. They listened to our ideas, brought their own vision, and worked with us every step of the way to make the final result even better than we had envisioned it. It was a tough job because they had to bring all the materials into our backyard by wheelbarrow, as we didn't want to destroy our garden. They were amazing, absolutely tireless. Our grandchildren watched with fascination and were always delighted when Ralph and Cynthia stopped to talk to them. Had my front breezeway ripped out and walkway replaced with pavers. I also had an issue with water leaking into the cold storage room from the original job that Tough Oaks addressed. They started my place just as the rainy weather crept in but they showed up right after it stopped raining, everyday, unless it was too bad to continue. They were very transparent with costs, I had no hidden surprises or "unexpected" expenses that grossly inflated their estimate. One issue did come up - not with their workmanship but some random weird thing with my porch area and drainage. They came over, looked at it, ripped it up and fixed it.
