STOP! Do you have…read more*any* type of spine-based pain that you've tried for *years* to resolve with physical therapy, chiropractic care, pain management professionals, and/or had surgery but continue to remain in pain? Do you get 10 minutes with your current physical therapist, then handed off to a college intern to do the same 5 exercises every time you go and make little/no progress? PLEASE make an appointment to see Dr. Francis Jung at Columbia Physical Therapy In Motion. *EVERY* session you will get 45 minutes of dedicated time with him. No interns. No down time. Just one-on-one time with an incredible physical therapist. I met Dr Jung after 2.5 years in pain (about 14 months of severe sciatic pain) that left me with pain-based scoliosis. Standing or walking for more than 15-30 seconds was incredibly painful and I couldn't stand up straight. Had seen 3 physical therapists and 3 chiropractors over those 2.5 years and none knew what to make of my issue after several months of treatment. Dr. Jung was kind enough to call me on his own time after work one evening and assured me his experiences could likely assist. Dr. Jung has a kind and compassionate presence along with wisdom from years of hands on experience and tons of training. Did you know Doctor's of Physical Therapy (DPT) can opt to go through residency and on to fellowships? He was one of the first 10 DPT fellows in the state of Maryland! He will empathize and listen to your concerns and celebrate each of your successes while ensuring you get the most out of your time with him. He will challenge you beyond what you think is possible and you CAN succeed under his guidance. While not without pain, frustration, and setbacks, I'm THRILLED to report that I can now take zumba classes and am planning some large travel trips that I couldn't imagine a mere 12 months ago. The Columbia Physical Therapy In Motion team is wonderful - I would highly recommend any of the therapists for any of your PT needs, though I am very partial to Dr. Jung for any spine-based issues. Do note that getting an appointment with Dr. Jung may take a few weeks because of his popularity, but he is worth the wait. As a tip: when you call to make your initial appointment, ask to get on his schedule twice a week to make sure you don't have to wait again --- if you opt not to see him anymore, just cancel the appointments with no problems. Trust me, they will very quickly fill up.

I'm glad that I waited a while before posting my review. Had I posted it just after the visit that…read moremy 94 year old mother had with Dr. Mathur, it would have been FIVE STARS! Dr. Mathur was very kind. He listened to my mother's issues, did a thorough examination and recommend an in office X-ray and a MRI. This visit was on 2/17. In that visit he said that he would reach out with the MRI results. The MRI was done on 2/18 and the results were available via the Advanced Radiology website on 2/20. I expected to hear from the doctor no later than Monday. I sent a portal message on 2/19 to make sure the doctor's office contacted me directly. When I didn't hear back, I called the office on 2/25, and I was told there was no portal message (even though I was looking at it). I was informed that it may have gone to the incorrect department. Why a practice wouldn't forward my message to the correct department I cannot say... I guess it "wasn't their job". We all know that excuse provided regularly by the younger generation. I was told on that phone call, that the doctor would call. It is now 2/27 and still no call. So, I went into the portal again to send another message and noticed that I could see the chart note. I saw at the end of the note "follow up in 1 week for MRI results". First of all, the doctor said he would call. Second, when I was on the phone with the office on 2/25, why didn't she tell me that I needed to schedule an appointment? I work for a group of Rheumatologists and we would never simply ignore a patient, nor would we ask them to come back for results. I can read the results on the Radiology report. What I would expect is a phone call with a treatment plan and then schedule the appointment to begin treatment. I am going to move forward with a different orthopedic practice. Before I experienced the above, based on my initial experience, I recommended Dr. Mathur to an elderly work associate with a severe back issue. She got the run around as well, so clearly, this is the standard of patient care that Potomac Valley Orthopedic feels is acceptable.

It's an hour past our appointment time and we are still waiting on the doctor. Very unprofessionalread more

I was in the lobby, since I arrived early, and I heard him talking with an elderly lady about her treatment plan. His kind tone, patience, and warmth in his voice as he spoke to her about her situation was incredible. He was so respectful and was mapping out what she needed to do with her other doctors to make sure everyone was on the same page. It was heart warming. I first needed to go to Dr Raj for my right shoulder. Within a month of PT my shoulder was back to normal. Then I lifted something that was very light and tweaked it, so back to Dr. Raj. Withing 2 weeks it was fixed and I haven't had any issues since then. Then the right hip started acting up so started the process with Dr. Raj. It's been a few weeks and it is starting to feel better and the limp is almost gone. I still have work to do on my hip, but I know Dr. Raj will get me back to my normal hip health soon.

During the first visit Raj assessed the problem, explained in detail his findings and his recommendations (which he shared with my doctor too). After several visits, the pain was gone. He continued then with methods that helped me gain strength to prevent future injuries and helped me regain normal range of movement. He used tools and methods that helped me during sessions, but also taught me how to replicate them at home. I am very thankful for his professional help and his caring personality.

Following an aquatic therapy session, I experienced a fall shortly after leaving the clinic due to instability. There was no reassessment of my ability to walk safely before I was discharged from treatment that day. This never happened after any of the other appointments either, although having shown MRI findings to the therapist of ligament injuries in my ankle being treated. After being medically cleared to resume therapy today after a week off, I called today to schedule a new appointment. During that call, the receptionist and a physical therapy assistant were rude, dismissive, and confrontational. I was told that I would not be allowed to continue therapy unless I paid a $40 cancellation/no-show fee related to a same-day appointment that had been scheduled immediately after my fall. That appointment was scheduled less than two hours out, while I was injured. At the time, I stated that I would try to attend, but that my ability to do so depended on whether I could walk safely. I ultimately could not ambulate safely and did not attend. Despite this, payment of the fee is now being required as a condition of continuing care. Being spoken to rudely and pressured for payment in order to access medically necessary therapy, particularly after a treatment-related injury, was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic to patients who need clear communication, reasonable accommodations, or patient-centered care--especially following an injury. A formal complaint was also filed today to their corporate office.

I was in a car accident in Jul2017 and in Dec2018 I fell at a hotel, both incidents work related. The fall is what took me over. I was in so much pain that I couldn't think. It exacerbated everything. My domestic abilities are far limited than they were previously. Well after an evening of baking, I learned that such a benign task Woukd lead to blinding pain. Nothing worked. Not the exercises, the TENS. I try not to take pain pills so I tried therapies instead. The pain was so bad that I had trouble sleeping. I cancelled my entire week of travel because the thought of me having to move that much was unfathomable. I go to my appointment and I see Alyssa. I disclose exactly what I was going through. She deduced that the simple task of baking aggravated my injury causing me this high level distress. After doing my exercises, she did her manual therapy. I completed with TENS and left. It's been two days. I'm not healed because I still have limitations and pain but the aggravation, that sharp blinding acute pain where I literally wanted to die, it's gone. I'm back to the normal level of pain. I have never been so grateful in my life. It was excruciating and I honestly could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank goodness for her being so thorough and competent and killing the pain at that level. After having that experience, I'm confident we can strengthen my core more and reduce the pain even more.

I was a bit skeptical at first because the routines they have me doing are far from conventional (picking up marbles with my feet, swiping a towel, etc) but the pain in my feet from plantar fasciitis is subsiding. So I'm hoping with time it'll be a distant memory. The staff here are all nice and chill, esp love the ones I've worked with. Carrie is my PT and she's super awesome. I'm pretty off the wall at times and she's super easy to talk to and deal with. LOVE HER! Plus the 15-20 mins rub after your session into too shabby. It's like paying for a deep tissue, (sometimes super painful) massage! I've also worked with Duane and he's cool. Nice guy who also kicks your ass! Don't bother going any where else, this place is awesome and it's actually fun here rather than the places that no one ever speaks.
