My boyfriend and I really like this place! Brad, one of the owners was very nice prior to our arrival. When we got there we were left the key and pretty much left alone which we both love!!! The room (we stayed in The Freida) is perfect for two people. Very nice semi-private patio and a wonderful jacuzzi tub for two which we used several times a day. The property is large (two acres) and well maintained and the common areas are lovely, clean and appropriate for large or small parties if people. This inn is in a secluded location and is very quiet and comfortable. I highly recommend a stay at this inn. read more

We've stayed here before and the stay and Brad's breakfast was amazing. This time, we came here solely for breakfast (frankly we couldn't really afford $150+ a night to stay + pay for breakfast for two additionally) and we were saddened to see our meal would no longer be prepared by the chef, but aides in training, instead. Though it was nice, it was one course and vegetarian only breakfast for which I thought the $20 was too much for :( Saddened by my second visit here. read more

This was our second stay at the Touchstone. Last year we stayed in the " Mabel" which is a big room with plenty of space. This visit we stayed in Cielo which is more of a treehouse/ attic sorta of room. Decor is very Taos and charming . As per the first visit , we found several things in need of repair. If you can look past these things you will enjoy your visit. If you are looking for more amenities and less rustic charm you might need to look somewhere else. read more

For the past 2 years ('13 & '14) my son and I have stayed with Bren and the Touchstone Inn. Both times were during our spring break ski trips. We've stayed in the Frieda Kahlo room (loved the semi-private patio) and the D. H. Lawrence (loved the ground floor entry and especially the wood burning fireplace). Both times Bren has gone out of her way to accommodate us and give us extras we didn't expect. The property is set back from the main thoroughfare, but an easy walk to many great restaurants. Setting is quiet & peaceful and the staff doesn't disturb. The original artwork throughout the facilities is amazing and the common room downstairs is great for chatting. The breakfast was delicious; fresh with pastries, fresh fruit and flavors of New Mexico, prepared for us as we arrived each morning. Both times the reservations were easy, accurate and billed as promised. The rooms were clean and serviced nightly. The showers have great water pressure and all the hot water you can use. Beds and linens are comfy. If you want to get in the vibe of Taos stay at the Touchstone Inn. We'll be back next year. read more

My family and I booked a Thanksgiving weekend at the Touchstone Inn as a special getaway. We were not disappointed! The Spanish style B&B is on beautiful grounds with a lovely labyrinth of rooms. Our room had a luxurious jacuzzi tub with original RC Gorman tile work. There was a small room attached to our spacious room that was a perfect, fun sleeping area for our daughter. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful; keeping fires going in all the special rooms full of original art work. The floors were heated giving the inn a cozy feel. The food was 5 star all the way. For breakfast we were served stuffed croissants, a complex scrambled egg dish, and potato cakes. If you are looking for an authentic Taos experience, the Touchstone Inn is a perfect lodging choice. read more

Grounds are large and tranquil. Rooms are spacious with good amenities. Ours had a double rain shower, robes, 2nd story w patio nice view. Amber and Brad are very attentive. We told them we couldn't eat gluten, and Amber baked a gluten free bread with which Brad made a delicious french toast. Get a massage w Teresa she's great w deep tissue. Only downside is that there are little things in disrepair in the room, that seemed to be half repaired, or fixed in a haphazard manner. Like old grout was gray, but repair grout is in tan. Ceiling tiles several had fallen and not replaced. I feel like given the grounds, and the care they put in putting the great breakfasts together for their guests, if some attention was paid to properly repairing, replacing wear and tear in the rooms, the inn would be a much better experience. But overall, it was a great stay in Taos and Brad and Amber were two of the best hosts we've had in the many B&B's we've stayed at. Keep up the great work!! read more

The whole place seems neglected and run down. We were given a key and left to ourselves. We were in the Miriam room. Very small room crammed with too much furniture. The entrance door was only 2 feel wide. The room smelled of smoke from the fireplace and the window was inoperable. We just stayed away as much as possible. If there was food available there we were not notified. We found that our cell phones did not work there and that seemed to be the only way to contact the manager, Richard. read more

Attended an artists workshop here. Fortunately they didn't have a room with two beds available so we stayed at the Inn next store. Everyone else complained about the cold cereal breakfast the first morning, while out Inn offered a starter of fresh fruit with yogurt, choice of huevos rancheros, blueberry pancakes, eggs any style, toast and bacon, or if you must cold cereal. We had cookies and fresh fruit all day, lemonade or ice tea in the afternoon...Touchstone? Nothing. We got our beds made daily and our rooms cleaned. Touchstone? Not. We had the most delightful innkeepers ...Touchstone? Well he told one guest that the group made him want to slit his throat. Then he tried to charge every single person the same price regardless of room or number of people in the room even though their original rates were different. Stay away! read more

I am super late reviewing this place. I got married here in 2012 and was happy with the choice. I had called to arrange the ceremony and they took care of everything for us so easy for me. We stayed in the DH Lawrence room and loved the fireplace. For the ceremony Brad took lots of pictures for us and made us a red velvet wedding cake and some chocolate dipped strawberries. The breakfast was fine though I don't really remember it. The grounds are peaceful and scenic and it was enjoyable and romantic place to stay. read more

We scheduled a little getaway for New Years in Taos, N.M. We actually got there a day early due to a scheduling glitch and the B&B that we were booked with got us a room at Taos Touchstone Inn for the one early night. While we were glad to get a room, the gratitude faded quickly. Our room that we had to pay $200 a night for had NO heat. Remember its December 27th in Taos, N.M....its COLD! The poor little manager that had only been there 2 weeks kept saying to give it time that it would warm up. Never did. The sliding glass door that was our room door would not lock and the frame was so out of square that there was a gap at the bottom that I could stick my fingers through, thus giving us a nice freezing draft all night. There were also electrical cords running across the threshold of the door to floor lamps in the room. These cords presented a safety hazard and would trip you as you came through the door.There was a small fireplace in the room that I had to keep burning all night just so we wouldn't freeze. Management didn't seem to concerned about the condition of the room or our comfort, or lack of. The breakfast they served the next morning, a veggy fruitatta, was inedible. I did get an e-mail from management, sending me the bill. They still claim the heat works in that room, but apologized for any discomfort and decided not to charge us for breakfast. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Stay away from this dump...it is over priced and management could care less about your comfort or safety. read more
