Dark and dreary, the car park belies the actual appearance and functionality of the station within…read more Bypass the bus stops and angry commuters, climb the stairs (Mill Hill station has not yet become fully accessible, unfortunately), and find yourself in a small but sufficient little Thameslink station. They have moved the ticket office to the ground floor (next to the minicab office), which now means the rush to board the trains is separate from the lengthy ticket line every morning. There are multiple Oyster pads at each platform (Mill Hill has three), and there is a 'proper' car park on the other side of the Broadway, on the road that becomes Bunns Lane -- very handy for commuters. I adore the man who runs the snack shop/newsagents on Platform 1 -- after I began purchasing my weekly Grazia here, he began to save one just for me each Tuesday. This isn't a glitzy station like Euston or St. Pancras. It's not a Tube station either, so don't expect the same amount of sheen to the decor. It's comparable to Enfield Chase, and much safer than Hendon's overground. At Zone 4, it has sufficient trains running through to King's Cross and Blackfriars. If they could just provide a little more lighting at the bus station in front, this would be a station Mill Hill could be really proud of.

The oyster touch outs are not always working or obvious so you can be stood there wondering if it is working or not. Under where the buses go through / you take your life in your own hands to be fair. The drivers have no concept of people around them and drive around the "loop" oblivious. There is a taxi rank there which is helpful but you do normally end up waiting quite a while for one to appear, you're better off ordering one two stops ahead ready for your arrival. Hate this place after dark, really don't feel safe at all, not one little bit.

Not to be confused with Wets Finchley Underground, which is even more rainy and even more outdoors…read more Both East and West Finchley are overground underground stations if you know what I mean, which means they're out in the open with nice fresh air and cold weather and rain. They have covered sections of course and you'll be fine up here, and it's in a very busy area so they're pretty safe stations as well. They're really just fancy stops for the fancy people and it's very fancy part of North West London with a lot of Rich folks. If that sounds like you, then you may well be using the station. My super rich friends used to use Mill Hill East which was near their house and that brings back great memories, and just for a change, I used both of these stations too, on a regular basis.

We specifically came here because we purchased a Eurostar train ticket to Paris. From arriving, to checking in, going through customs, it was very organized and people paid attention. It wasn't chaos as it tends to get in the US. The whole process to getting on and off the train was a piece of cake-definitely not stressful at all. If you are trying to get to Paris, Amsterdam, or any outer cities near London, this is the place to be when needing to take a train. I highly recommend Eurostar since it is a high speed train and will get you to your next destination fairly quick. If you are not planning to leave the city, I still recommend checking it out since it is a beauty and I heard, Harry Potter was filmed here.

During the strike this station was meant to be open which is why I routed myself here 11.30pm at…read morenight, only to find that would not allow people into the station to get on the trains going thru to edgware but they would allow passengers from edgware and Central London to get off at Golders Green! Had to get a bus to edgware which is a long route. All in all a very bad service today I'm afraid you might just as well not bothered opening if you are going to discriminate against edgware passengers or was it just sheer laziness?

There is a small shelter from rain and weather while waiting, though a long platform to service the Northern trains. Parking nearby as well as bus stops. There are no fixed services other than a cart outside with drinks and candies.

2013/021 Forgot to…read morewrite about this station. Husband's friend lived nearby and asked us to arrive at this station so that he can pick us up outside. My husband needed to use the bathroom and couldn't find any at this station. When we went upstairs, the food seller was of no help. My husband then saw a "McDonald's" M logo across the street. It turned out that it was a training site, not an actual restaurant location. So yeah, no loo here. Place is conveniently located to buses and for people to pick us up by car.

Just a quick trip on the tube will take you to Notting Hill. Well, maybe not that quick of a trip…read moredepending on where you're coming from, but it's not too far away. Notting Hill Gate is the perfect place to stop if you're visiting Notting Hill because it's right in the center of everything. There are many streets with colorful houses right nearby and lots of little cafes and restaurants to choose from.

We needed to transfer from our usual line to another to explore London a little more. When I walked into the station, I was drawn in by the massive curved canopy and the larger platform landings. This station was built in 1868 and can imagine what it looked like then. Many years before cars, people were commuting through London via underground rail. The place has history and it was cool to see, while you are on your way to see other places.

Not as contrarian as Woudln'tSide Park…read more Located way up in the Northwest close to Barnett is this lovely little station that is pretty much an overgrown station and doesn't require too many steps and walking from the street. It's close to Barnet and Edgware and does a great job with what it's here for. Definitely one of the better stations up in this part of Greater London, and one which we appreciate.

Although I mainly use Totteridge Station there are times when I choose to take Woodside Park…read moreinstead for two very good reasons. Firstly there are no stairs in and out of the station so it is perfect for taking my bike on and off the platform. I simply walk off the platform and onto the street. Easy. The second reason is that this station unlike Totteridge has disabled access. So when I take my mum out (she cannot do stairs very easily) it is perfect. As long as you choose the right entrance (there are two entrances) depending on whether you are going into town or towards Barnet, you do not need to negotiate the stairs that join the two platforms via a footbridge. The towards London entrance is on the north side of the station ie coming from North Finchley high street. The Barnet platform is on the south side and can be best accessed from the residential area south of the station. There is also a taxi cab conveniently located right outside the Barnet side exit/entrance to the station. Again, nice and clean outdoor station but often better opening hours for the counter service (located on the London platform side only).
