Let me just say, I was not disappointed with my choices. They were both awesome in their own ways. Liz tried the crepes, and it was loaded with cajeta. It was tasty and the warmth of the crepe melted the caramel to the right consistency to say whoah... this is really caramel-ly. It was really good. She topped it off with a scoop of banana nut gelato. The service was nice, but I think they took a bit of time with the crepe. That said the crepe was nothing worse for wear. I got my ice cream almost instantly, and so it was easy to share the two desserts one after the other. The shop is brightly lit, and easy to find on the corner of Tirso de Molina Plaza. It goes through bouts of busy-ness as folks drop in from other places. This dessert shop knows what they are doing... if you are in the area, drop in.

I opted just for ice cream to cool down. Got the Zuccaru blend which tasted like a green drink in ice cream form. It contains celery, apple, lemon and probably one more ingredient I'm forgetting about. Weird who would want celery in ice cream but it seriously was refreshing on such a warm day. Next flavor was passion fruit or maracuya. Great flavor and not so tart. Now these 2 flavors are dairy free!! Yet it was so creamy! I tried asking what base they used and they just said water but I would think there would have to be some kind of milk whether it was coconut or something else. Here however you can see and taste the difference of fresh, authentic gelato. The mint chocolate chip has flecks of green mint leaves in it, and the chocolate fragments are generously served. We loved the "pear" because it tastes just like a creamy pear. You can feel the little gritty bits in an actual pear. The "100% chocolate" flavor has a depth and intensity you won't get anywhere else. The "mango" and "coconut" flavors are other hits, similarly tasting like you're biting into the freshest and sweetest version of the fruit but with the creamy panna undertone. I'd recommend sampling all the flavors like we did. And unlike some other gelato spots in Madrid that limit you to just sampling one flavor, or ridiculously overpricing their gelato, at Zuccaro's the prices are very fair and the portions are generous. Much love to the great shopkeeper. The poor girl had had her tip jar stolen from, but even after that she was bright and positive and conversed with us excitedly. In a city where most shopkeepers seem like they're trying to just send you out the door, it was a sweet way to bring our trip to Spain to a close.

We came back the next day and I ordered the strawberry and Coco which was an amazing combination, while my husband just ordered Coco. Unfortunately my husband had to stay five more days due to Covid. The wait staff is helpful but not fully engaged. I surveyed the selection and seem to migrate toward the pistachio gelato in Spain. A single scoop of pistachio was ordered and I quickly jumped into analysis mood. The flavor was cool but not cold. My scoop was melting as soon as she handed it to me. The flavor was fine but not great. I don't mind trying pistachio gelatos but this was not my favorite. Eccolo gelato has a nice venue, clean environment and hopefully a more flavorful and colder product.

I've tried their oolong milk tea and their strawberry cheese foam drink. I've also had samples of the egg puff waffles. The oolong milk tea is decent for Madrid standards. It gets the job done and I think the only one on par with it is ZenZoo's. However, I think Eggofre specializes more on its slushes and desserts. Their strawberry cheese foam drink is a bit like Happy Lemon's, but less salty. It's thick and I prefer drinking it by taking off the lid and sipping so I get a combination of both cheese and slush. The strawberry flavor is so refreshing. At 6 euros, the drink itself is quite expensive, but I saw that they have a deal that's 8 euros for a strawberry cheese foam drink AND a strawberry egg puff waffle. As for the waffle, I think it's quite light and perfectly textured! It's great to share and there's so many customization options. I've had waffles elsewhere that had flat textures, but this one is squishy and holds the ingredients together well. Cheese foam and egg puff waffles are definitely a niche treat for Madrid. I recommend it!
