My 5 and 3 year old both go to KCS.  KCS is like a second home.  Everyone is so warm, welcoming,…read morecaring, and genuinely love kids.  Many of the faces I see there were there when my eldest first started 4 years ago.  If I start naming names, it would be a huge list because everyone I have encountered at KCS have been amazing.  When we walk in the hallway even teachers from other classes tend to know my kids names and give us a warm welcome as we pass by.  I am always in such awe of the curriculum, and way they are always changing the layouts in the classrooms with exciting ways to play and bring alive learning experiences.  Their in house kitchen makes such delicious homemade food for the kids that I wish I could eat there as well! They have such an impressive array of outdoor/playground areas for the kids to enjoy in rain or shine. I could not imagine a more well run daycare!  They really know what they are doing!!! They were great at keeping up with latest Covid recommendations from the state for daycares and communicating the updates to everyone as clearly as possible. My friends with kids elsewhere would ask me about KCS Covid guidelines, and were always so impressed with how well KCS managed the craziness of the past couple years. I am sad that my eldest will be leaving KCS, but happy my youngest has another couple years.  Today was the last day of the school year, and my kids' teachers gave such touching cards and gifts to my kids for them to remember the year.  Thank you to everyone at KCS!  One of the best choices I ever made was deciding to send my kids here!

Each of her classes was a warm, nurturing environment that promoted learning and true connection between students and their teachers. The staff at KCS was also a pleasure to deal with throughout our time at the school. Finally, I have to commend KCS on their handling of the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. KCS was very conscientious in the application of health and safety precautions throughout this period, and the staff was very flexible as health guidelines continually changed. Overall, I couldn't recommend KCS more, and we will miss everyone there as our daughter moves on to first grade!

I was actually a student here with ADHD. Do not bring your children here please. I honestly really…read morehope some of the teachers from 2004-2011 see this: back when I went to school here if you had adhd it was treated the same as being on the spectrum with autism. Kids at lunch are already mean but special Ed was treated the same as being dumb, and the staff didn't help. I was pulled out from my classroom to work at a much slower pace in a special Ed classroom where there was a padded room for children that werent physically able to control themselves, I was dragged into this room a few times for a timeout if I was upset and wanted to work on things that my classmates were working on. They would have me practicing math at a much slower pace and a much lower level then my normal classroom did. In third grade they took me to the padded room and I was told to draw out HUGE numbers 1-5 and I remember still how much it hurt my feelings. I had to take adhd medication and I cannot believe to this day what they did was allowed. Through the school announcement speakers I would have one of the nurses call out my first and last name and request me to come to the office to take my medicine. The entire school would here this on the enter com and I would here kids I didn't even know asking who that Noelle Parkinson kid was... This would be humiliating for anyone and I can't believe they actually did this. If that wasn't enough, I had an older teacher that also managed recess. She would walk around and I would hide from her because anytime I was at recess or walking with other kids from my class she would shout out and ask if I had taken my meds yet. I was pointed out, called out, and humiliated daily by the school staff about taking medication. Very early on I was bullied for being different and the staff had a huge roll in this for how they singled me out and separated me from my class. I didn't get the proper education I needed while attending, I left this school with childhood trauma from attending this school AND from what I was going through at home. All because I was different, and what's worse is that I would start my days in my normal classroom so I would bring my lunchbox to class each morning and then an hour in to the lesson a teacher would pull me out to work with the other special Ed students. I would miss part of my lunch having to rush to get my lunch box in the classroom and often I would forget my lunchbox in the "normal kid" classroom and then be scolded in front of the whole class for leaving lunchboxes over night in the classroom. The Principal working at the time was Mrs. Mellon. 2011 is only 10 years ago so please take this into consideration when bringing your children here. They have one of the worst IEP programs, please do not bring your child here if they have adhd. They do not understand what adhd is. If your child has adhd, do not allow them to be placed into a separate classroom. This will only isolate them further, they will feel more different and be bullied even worse. It will also make it harder for them to fit in or make friends. The staff here doesn't help either. Even the music teacher Mrs. Paige embarrassed me so bad for trying to sing that I didn't sing for years. So going to a school while also having a rough time at home is something that no child should have to go through. I feel like if everyone left a review for the school district that messed them up mentally, things would be a lot different for our children.

Also impressive was the effort she puts in for all the kids there. I could see the advancement in my daughter pretty quickly, she started putting together words and soon was reading smaller books. The curriculum is not limited to reading and writing but covers diverse topics on science, math, geography, Spanish and so on and is taught in a way that's easily grasped by these young tots. Even during the pandemic, Shantha took every effort to keep the teaching moving along via online classes with a similar curriculum. I highly recommend this school.

I made lots of life long friends and memories! I was nervous when I first joined about participating in a co-op preschool and having a work day but it worked out well and they made the whole process easy. Love Kcp and highly recommend it!

We started the quest for a preschool when my twin sons were 4. My three non-negotiables I was…read morelooking for were: 1. Play-based. I wanted my sons to learn how to play well with others within a loose structure. 2. Community-driven. I wanted to experience a group of "real" parents, who can appreciate (and at times commiserate) all the highs and lows of parenting. 3. Affordable. As a single-income family at the time, we needed something that we could both afford and met our standards. (My husband and I are both educators.) Kirkland Co-Op Preschool both met and exceeded our expectations. But the thing that has probably surprised us the most is the families and friends we've met along the way. My husband and I have expanded our "tribe" to include many of the families we've met at KCP, I'm so glad we made the choice to join. Our sons have been nurtured by not only the teachers at KCP, but also by the parents. The parent involvement piece is a big commitment, but our kids have benefited immensely from it. And I have been able to witness their growth in the classroom the whole time. It's been a really precious experience. Our twins are going to kindergarten this fall, but our youngest is going into Group II this year. If you're looking for a place for your family to find true community this is the place for you! I highly recommend it.

Our kids have been to Birch Tree (BTA) over the past 4 years. We've had an amazing experience, and…read morerecently realized how exceptional it is compared to other daycares. We took for granted the high quality care and high standards set by the management and staff. We took a short break and moved our youngest to another daycare for a month just to be closer to our house (national chain daycare in Kenmore), and it was literally night and day. The other daycare was subpar in quality and extremely short staffed, even though the tuition was comparable. We decided to move them back to Birch Tree, and drive the extra miles. What we love about Birch Tree is the management, warm and caring teachers who give lots of hugs, home cooked food, facilities, quality education, classroom camera and Bright Wheel App. Despite the locations expansion, BTA still feels locally owned and the owner Natalie and head of schools Jessica are very much involved in all of their schools. You will still see them in-person floating around the different locations. They generally know all student's names, and the local staff are always friendly and greating parents. They hold their staff to high standards and also expect the same of parents. Kids are well behaved, they wear inside vs outside shoes. Food is better than my home cooked meals, classrooms are modern with high ceilings and large windows, and all teachers have open communication with parents via the instant messaging feature. The admin staff is also on top of communication, and they have an abundance of teachers and admin staff. They also offer weekly PE, music, and Spanish classes which are all included in the price. They also offer parents night-out occasionally, and host events and weekly summer field trips for pre-k. You can do 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Speaking with staff, they enjoy working there and say that there's opportunity for them to grow and take on different roles within the school or office. Other parents we've met have moved from other daycares to go to BTA and seem very happy with BTA. They have well prepared our oldest for kindergarten and we are so thankful. None of these things we observed with the national chain daycare.
