Stella is hilarious and was very kind to my mother (who was anxious about being berated about the state of her feet, pre-pedicure). The massage chairs were nice, and they were easy for my 8 &1/2 month pregnant self to get in and out of without too much trouble. (I also liked that the chairs push back from the tubs quite a bit so I could really stretch my legs out instead of perching like a hawk practically right on top of the pedicurist the entire time, which is very uncomfortable....Rita's.) $35 for a good 30 minute soak (with lots of bubbles!), scrub, foot and calf massage, LOTS of cuticle oil and a great paint job AND an amusing stylist with a Jersey accent? We'll definitely be back.

They canceled my appointment after I had to rebook it online (I have a very busy schedule and can't always find time time to rebook during their office hours) after calling on my lunch hour and not reaching them, I left a voicemail. When I got there they were unapologetic about canceling the wrong appointment and spent more than 15 minutes looking for my cancellation/voicemail or something on their phone which in that time, I could've been waxed by then. They said I had canceled it myself online (which I didn't as I advised that's why I left the voicemail explaining the situation) then said it was because I interchange my last name. I can't help it that their site uses gmail which automatically populates my maiden name. I was a repeat customer each month for waxing services but as they seemed to get more comfortable with me, the quality of the service seemed to start declining. I'd go home sometimes and still have hair where it was supposedly just waxed a few hours ago. I stayed with them out of convenience and because you get a discount for repeat wax services but I think now I will pay a little bit more for better quality. Guess you get what you pay for.

They offer the full range of services including hair, facials, manicures, pedicures, massages and waxing. And best of all, not an ounce of pretentiousness. I have absolutely adored a stylist named Matthew at Wave for 9 years. Conversation is always entertaining. If I didn't live far, far away, I would never go to anyone else for hair and brows. He also does makeup and special occasions (he refuses to do an up-do). He has such loyal customers; he has even done a few clients for their own funerals. He doesn't believe in hair extensions, but he does do eyelash extensions (I have not partaken). His coloring is great. I have recommended several friends and they are always pleased. I went to an 80's Prom party and he took an entire Saturday to do hair and makeup for eight women. The results were like, totally awesome. His hair cuts are about $40 (CHEAP!) and he doesn't push product.

Street parking in the area should be easy for those who drive. The salon is clean, tidy, and "modern" without being too stuffy, which I liked. Coffee & tea while you wait. I got an appointment with Kaelyn, and although I'm always a little wary of finding a new stylist, she quickly put me at ease. She was very sweet, funny, and attentive. After some discussion around my options, she ended up giving me the most adorable pixie cut I've ever had! She spent a ton of extra time making sure everything was absolutely how I wanted it, and her pricing was affordable as well. I hit the jackpot on my first try in Uptown and I couldn't be happier. I would suggest others (like me or not like me) go ahead and visit this establishment; its well worth the trip.

Because I haven't received…read moreanytime personal recommendations, I have been choosing salons based off the products they use. My research has piqued my interest to trying Rhonda Allison products for ethnic skin. But Megan has sold me on giving her a try for "results driven" facials. Megan impressed me initially by sharing her knowledge and reasoning behind the products used. She definitely embodies the definition of a customized facial based off whatever reason brought you in her studio mixed with the recommendations that she has from what she notices. I appreciate this honesty. I personally do not use 3x mirrors because I can't handle what I might see. So I expect my esthetician to manage the horror and make me have Gabrielle-Union-like skin without having to drink a gallon of water a day. Is this too unreasonable? Apparently not, because Megan has convinced me that she can deliver. For my custom facial she used a high frequency wand to zap my milia and other skin issues. It was such a warming feeling to find her using this machine because I JUST purchased one but was afraid to use it because I didn't want to shock myself or cause any skin damage. She eagerly showed me how to use the device and informed me that it was a recommendation she usually gave to her ethnic clients, as well. Score for Heather for being proactive! I knew all my Amazon impulse buys would come in handy one day. In addition to an amazing facial, she gives neck, shoulder, and FOOT massages. I have never had a foot massage as part of my facial so give me a second while I rejoice... (Hallelujah!!!) For logistics, Aesthetic Skin Salon is located inside Sola Salons (next to The Original Pancake House). GPS will probably send you to Target but it is located behind the Target shopping center. When you walk through the main door, walk straight for the quickest route to her studio. She is studio #29 even though the address says #31.
