So many beers that I had never had before that you could buy in singles. They came up to the Twin Cities a couple years later. Still pretty sweet for awhile. The times they are a changin'. These days, at least half of the shelf space that they used to have for beer is now THC and NA beverages. What they do have for beer almost never rotates and there is way too much emphasis on the local. Total Wine can still be fun if you visit one somewhere that you have never been before to find some new to you beers. The only reason I go them locally anymore is the sheer sake of convenience. Prices are up everywhere, but it doesn't seem like Total Wine has the bargain prices compared to their competition that it used to either. read more

The new Minnetonka location follows the same retail pattern as other Total Wine stores: a secondary strip mall off a secondary road that makes it a bit harder to get to; sufficient parking; a "big box" layout of many aisles with a tasting area; lots of checkout lanes; a locked wine cooler for premium vintages. Total Wine has added a frequent customer rewards program that makes their already low prices even more attractive. They have a very good selection of wine, regional craft beer, national and international beer, and spirits, along with a smattering of miscellaneous offerings such as glassware, mini-bottles, and non-alcoholic offerings (the latter of which are more expensive than at your local grocery store). Service has been consistently high, with the floorwalkers always looking to help you find something and the cashiers rapidly moving people through the line. Several times the store manager has opened a cash register just so a person doesn't have to wait a few minutes behind another customer. Despite the broad selection available, it would be even more distinctive if they could periodically bring in brands that are not typically distributed in Minnesota, just to get a sense for what the rest of the world can get. read more

Love this place... come once a year before going up to the lakes for vacation. Dave Stamps was awesome helping me select wines. Great knowledge of US, French, Italian and Spanish wines and regions. He also helped me use the App to get great discounts, some 50%, others 15% and one for a penny. They also have a wide selection at super reasonable prices. CA wines equal to CA local prices. They also let you sample some of the various wines to make more informed decisions. read more

This place is actually insane. It has probably the biggest selection of beer, wine, and hard alcohol I've ever seen. I could spend hours in here wandering the aisles...but that would be weird. read more

My neighborhood liquor store and home of aisles of options. If you are more interested in wine then this is the place to go. If you are like me and prefer scotch whisky from certain regions then I recommend looking elsewhere. This is only because they often don't have options beyond core ranges from scotch distilleries. Although sometimes they get a limited release in so this liquor store has managed to creep it's way into my rotation because sometimes I get lucky. read more

I wanted to assume a lack of proper training on behalf of the company, but a different employee who helped us find what we wanted was very nice and knowledgeable, so it may be a personal problem. While I like to support small, local, and minority-owned liquor stores when possible, Total Wine is the leader when it comes to the largest selection at the lowest prices. If you like boxed wine, they have an excellent amount of options. I have never had to wait long to check out, even on a Friday night after work when they are busy, and the employees have always been friendly. Hello I'm a door dasher and when I was at this store I brought someone in with me that was under the age of 21 and forgot that they can't sell me alcohol wile they are with me, understandable but the store manger was very rude to me and his tone was veery uncalled for I was just trying to do my job read more

I scheduled a networking and wine tasting event in the private room at the Minnetonka TW&M. Sarah was extremely helpful and Judy's class was excellent. We had the side doors to the room open during the networking portion and closed them for the class. Thank you for your excellent accommodations and hospitality. Almost everyone was very nice and helpful, my husband and I couldn't walk very far before someone would ask us if we needed help. My only complaint is about the woman who was working in the wine area the day we went. We asked her if she had a particular wine that we loved, and she said it was kind of spendy and it might be out of our price range. I thought that was really rude, I'm not sure why anyone would say that to a costumer. Unfortunately I don't remember her name. read more

This place is not one of those "in and out" type of places. I like to think of it more as the Walmart of liquor stores. It's huge- I easily spend 20 minutes wandering around checking stuff out. Cheapest alcohol you're going to find, and I'm not talking about quality ;) Their selection is something you just don't see in Minnesota. All of the employees are always so friendly, especially one of the managers (I should know his name by now...he's a funny guy though). I actually would rather take a longer drive to that store just because I feel like I'm a valued customer. Very welcoming environment. I recommend it to everyone- the people are good, the prices are fantastic... no complaints. Also they do taste tests quite frequently- and they don't just offer one option like those lame places. Usually theres a wine, beer, and hard liquor choice so they're really catering to everyone's desire. read more

Gosh I love this store. We got all our wedding liquor here and we had fun shopping. The staff is always helpful and we enjoy the tasting bar as well. One staff was even kinda enough to humor my mother in finding good dark beers to try while in town. Taught me about Belching Beavers peanut butter porter. Wow. If you need liquor, go here. Your person / clerk John at the Minnetonka MN store needs a strong coaching in customer etiquette. I asked three different people standing around the tasting circle if someone could help check on a box of wine for me from the upper rack. He walked away, then a new person said she could help. No help just referred my request to this John guy who walked down the aisle back to me in a huffy tone and said we do not have any then turned around and walked away. I then asked him as he was walking back why the Canyon Zin was on the shelf with a November 2018 best buy date. He said it did not matter. I said I have been in the consumer products and manufacturing business for 36 years and you do not have outdated products on the shelf. He stated he did not care about my knowledge and did not want to hear about it. I turned around and told him to shut up and he again said he did not want to hear about me. I stated to him a derogatory term that he was an asshole (which is totally of of ordinary from me) then reported him to you front mgr who said not to talk to his employees in that manner. Why can your person talk to me in a demeaning attitude like that but I cannot? Your manager stated not to shop your your store anymore, and I said you would never see me again. Instead of deescalating the situation he escalated it. I will never shop your store again. This is a brief summary but needed to be said. Remember who your customer is and your verbal talk / communication. read more
