Okay, so I HATE leaving bad reviews but I have to be honest to myself and the Yelp family. My opinion is going to be very biased as I'm a bourbon shopper and the bourbon world is INSANE!! IYKYK. So this particular store is known for giving highly sought after bourbon to their friends only. It's gross. I was walking around the other day and saw a gentleman with an Elmer T. Lee. I was stoked!! Went and looked in their bourbon/whiskey section and nothing there, no tag or anything. There were three vendors standing around, so I asked them if that ETL came in. They said to find an employee. Went around the corner and boom, 5 employees standing around talking. Hello, I say, three scatter (two managers), and the one offered his help. Asked about the ETL, he looks in his handheld inventory and says he sees it but it hasn't been put out yet, told me to go find the vendor. I said they told me to find you. He went to get the "bourbon" employee, Matthew.... Matthew says to me, there is no ETL, you've been misinformed. Ummmm, I just saw a guy pay for it and leave 5 minutes ago Matthew. He then replies that oh, well we only got one and guess it's gone. Sooooo, you blatantly lie to my face, then backtrack and lie again?? Not cool dude. Let me give you all a little background. I've spent $100,000's at this particular Total Wine through my four years of being a Grand Reserve member through my little catering company. I asked nicely and was treated very poorly and spoken to like I was an idiot. I was going to let it go, but I was more upset how I was treated than not getting the actual bottle. And I get it, I really do, bourbon "hunters" can be self-entitled brats, I've seen it. But I'm not, and never have been. Being female in this world can be a little frustrating as well. This location is a bit smaller than others. Has the same selection as the others tho. The allocated section is very thin for the special hard to find whiskeys, tho the uber expensive ones they did have. This visit was super busy and they only had one check out clerk operating the register with roughly 7 folks waiting in line. Went around 1600 hours on a Tuesday and it was a hopping store. Currently still sitting in the parking lot writing this because I just needed to make a review on how incredible the customer service was here. New Year's Eve, I came in and bought a bottle of margarita mix just to take it home and realize that it had been expired. No harm no foul things like that happen all the time. Today, I was greeted at the customer service desk by a gentleman who I did not get his name and he was very apologetic about the expired mix. Although I did not have my receipt with me, he insured me that with my phone number, we could possibly look it up. He passed me over to who I would assume was the manager on duty whose name I got, which was Christy. She as well was very helpful as I was instructed to go grab an another bottle of the mix and bring back to the register. We looked up my phone number and I got a new bottle without any issues. It's hard to argue with the greatness of this store. It brings the warehouse selection of Specs and Bevmo together with the really strong customer service, and a design that gives attention to attractive promotional setups and excellent craft beer variety. Total Wine is not convenient to my house. Somehow I've managed to find myself directly in between two locations that are about 25 minutes away. But, when I need the Spicy Tamarind flavored Smirnoff, or the Seasonal Prairie Artisan release, Total Wine is where I have to go to find them. Also, hard to find elsewhere is the high likelihood of random beer convos in the Craft section. It seems like every time I'm loitering here trying to divine the awesome based on only the artwork, marketing copy, and ABV on unknown brews, invariably a rando beer recommendation occurs. I've been on both the giving and receiving end of these tips. The beer community lives comes to Total Wine. Come on weekends and you'll be able to sample a liquor or two. So the customer service is give and take at this location. I walked in needing help and I asked the first person I came across. He pointed a finger and told me an aisle to go to. Got there and there was no one there to help. I finally tracked down someone and he basically told me I wasn't giving him much to work with. He said follow me and took off to the front of the store and as I ran behind him (as I have short legs) weaving between other customers, he finally turns to me and says they aren't up here anymore. So he asks another employee and this is the only saving grace for my trip. I showed Ben a picture (a bad one at that) and we went to work. Needless to say, we found the bottle, so I extremely happy with the customer service that Ben provided (great job Ben!). I get to the register and I allowed an older gentleman in front on me. He was greeted and asked if he was a member and chit chat and have a good day. So then I approached and nothing, like not even a "did you find everything you were looking for". So I asked Sharane, who happens to be the store MANAGER, hi, how are you today? She responds but that's it. So I ask, do I need to put my phone number in? And she responds "you can" - I guess she didn't expect me to be a member. Not once did she make eye contact with me. Horrible location. Manager doesn't care about customers. Corporate sent a reply to a prior issue. Asked for my feedback on what occurred in the store. Sent them a detailed email and attempted to call their customer service line as requested. No one ever answered the phone call after waiting for an hour. So if you get a reply on Yelp from Total Wine, it is a canned, automated response. Guess they think they are too big to fail. Wow, just wow!. We received something in the mail about Total Wine & More's grand opening, so decided to check it out (on Friday, continuing through the weekend - 11/17/17). As we walked through the door, we were handed one of those ubiquitous 6-bottle wine totes, but it was heavier. Inside was a guide to spirits & cocktails, a rather substantial guide to wine, a nice wine opened, and a certificate for a Total Wine & More educational event, for two - for FREE! So we browsed around for quite a while. Total overload. There are some great prices too. Of the things I knew, every price I saw was lower than the other stores I had recently been. Many (not all) wines qualify for a 10% discount when you buy more than 6 bottles (mix & match). So they have all the beer (including kegs), wine and spirits you could ever possibly need. I would be shocked if Total Wine & More did not have what you were looking for. They also have all manor of supplies, including Boar's Head products. If I was going to quibble about one thing though, it would be the wine tasting. They were only offering 3 options - 1 white and two reds, and the reds were very similar (in fact from the same vineyard). No big deal, I just thought it odd. As we paid for our wine (and Bundaberg Ginger Beer), we learned there is a reward program too. We were told it favors the wine buyers, so we signed up and our purchase started us on the path to reward. I hope that might include tastings and seminars, as I would like to learn more about wine. I went in last night to buy a specific scotch whiskey for my dad. An older gentleman who works there asked me if I needed help so I told him what bottle I was looking for. He looked it up in the system but let me know that the particular scotch I was looking for wouldn't be available until around February of next year. I then asked if they had another bottle that was on my list of ones to get and he proceeded to tell me "I don't know why your dad would send a little girl to come get his liquor for him." I immediately felt uncomfortable, annoyed, and judged. I let him know that I was 28 and that I was also an avid whiskey/scotch drinker myself. Following this, he then started to "mansplain" to me about different recommendations making comments like "do you know what that means" when attempting to tell me about the different liquors. Later on, he came up to me and "apologized" but it was a very backhanded apology as he said "you just don't look like someone that's an experienced drinker." Super inappropriate and not professional at all for him to call me a "little girl." I The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars and not 1 is because a nicer and younger gentleman was able to recommend a different scotch without being super condescending so I went with his suggestion. I've enjoyed the sampling and purchased items because I was able to sample them. This Total Wine was so amazing and accommodating for my wedding order. I needed 50 margarita jugs for my wedding and I don't know what we would have done without Oli. I called another Total wine location and was told to do everything online without any assistance and was unable to order such a large quantity online. Oli helped us coordinate everything, told us about a certain margarita that was doing a deal and saved us a good chunk of money, coordinated us paying for the margaritas but allowed us to store them in the back, so we could pick it up at a more convenient time and even helped us with the return process after the wedding. Oli was so nice, professional and the biggest help. I cannot say how amazing this experience was and stress free. I 100% recommend this location (and Oli) if you are wanting to buy for a large event. So as I'm seeing with all the other reviews for this location I definitely don't recommend unless you wanna be humiliated and your time be wasted. I'm of age and I know I look young and that's reasonable to ask for my ID but when you tell me to leave my ID there so you can get an ID check is kinda ridiculous. You already scanned my ID and it's clearly valid and not expired so I don't understand the reasoning for the manager to have to come check my ID. I've yet to think of any kind of liquor that I couldn't find at Total Wine. Even "specialties" that are hard to find. The prices are always considerable cheaper than the other liquor stores in the area, and Total Wine will always be worth the extra 5-minutes in the car. The wine and beer selection is massive, and free tastings are offered on the weekends. They even offer classes that you can take to learn more about beer, wine and spirits. There is a great cigar selection and I was even impressed with their "single serve"/airplane bottles selection for trying new types of bourbon, tequila and vodka that I wouldn't commit a whole bottle to. To the girl working on register 2 at 3:25 pm on December 24th. You should consider the way you speak to people. My sister and I came in, my sister accidentally forgot to bring her ID in because we ran in last minute after leaving JC Penney. You couldn't simply ask us to leave the store, you had to continue going on loudly about it & how my sister needs to carry her ID at all times. It's none of your business what she does outside your store. BTW management should check your camera because you didn't ID a single person in front of us, & and then you didn't bother to even have me remove my ID to truly inspect....that's illegal also so don't threaten me with a fine.
