I bought a Groupon and took a cardio kickboxing class last Friday at 6:30pm. I was a little nervous since it's been awhile since I did any kickboxing and that wasn't even in a studio. I walked in and the gentleman working the front desk (can't remember names!! ugh) was extremely friendly and welcoming. He gave me a complete tour of the gym and eased my nerves by saying that new people as well as veterans frequented the gym and to not be intimated. The class went by super fast, but the instructor kicked my butt. It was non-stop in a great way. The class trains you as if you had been training the whole time - which is a good thing since the other vets don't get a weak workout and you can catch the learning curve quicker. I definitely got a great workout - three days later, I still feel it. The instructors I met, plus the people who were in the class were encouraging and fun to be around. I was surprised I felt so comfortable. Oh, and since there were only maybe 8 of us on Friday, it was almost like having your own personal trainer. The instructor helped me tweak my form, but not in a way that made me feel embarrassed or like the new kid. Whenever I made adjustments, she acknowledged it and yelled out things like "There it is, Sam!", or "You got it, girl!" Hah sounds strange typing that out, but it is nice to feel a part of the group especially when you're putting in effort to keep up with everyone else. Even though I am still sore, I am going to try my hand at it again tonight. Definitely give this place a shot. read more

Awesome place to be! First time experiencing/trying mixed martial arts, and everyone here is so welcoming and patient. BJJ team are amazing, and wouldn't have asked for more. Definitely enjoyed this adventure along Total MMA. read more

This gym is amazing. The jiu-jitsu classes are great. Everyone is very friendly and make you feel comfortable. Great environment to learn a new sport. Coaches Jr. Teaches a great class in the morning. Definitely recommend. read more

Total Mma studios was amazing, I took the opportunity of taking their 6 week challenge which gave me the freedom to try out there classes all for the 6 weeks. During my time I learned so much regarding the art-form of jiu jitsu as well as the classes they provide like kickboxing, wrestling, muay Thai, etc. if you have any doubts about joining this gym, don't. You'll have an absolute blast here. read more

The coach and the higher belts are very patient with the lower belts during BJJ training. I think it's a great way to exercise if you're sick or bored of the usual gym workout. It helps hone your focus and gives you a goal, so you don't even feel tired until you're really tired when you're rolling. The people I've encountered are very nice and reasonable and motivated, so it's a great environment. I really enjoyed the six week challenge. read more

I did the 6 week challenge and I absolutely loved it. Everyone was super helpful and was welcoming. They really do take the time to teach you all the moves and techniques and proper ways to do each skill. Staff was great and very helpful throughout the 6 weeks, and was super clean. read more

I'm four weeks into the six-week transformation challenge. I have been a couch potato for 20-years and my weight and lack of mobility shows it. I turned 60 last week so I realized that I needed to do something or 80 was not going to be a good decade. Juliano and Junior are good guys. They make clear their expectations, but are not unreasonable or "macho" about it. They say time and again "You are competing with yourself not others" "Is this week better than last?" That makes sense. I'm feeling good, losing inches, and have more flexibility. I don't have the five stars only because I'm not sure how to transfer this effort to long-term training. They appear to have lots of options. It's work! read more

This was a incredible experience for me! all of the instructors here at total MMA are very good at what they do I appreciate all of you guys for your hard work! Also the gym is well maintained and cleaned so if your one of those people that worry about germs here you don't have to worry so much well maintained and cleaned! I did the 6 week challenge and it was by far the best experience of my life I learned the basics of Brazilian jiu jitsu totally worth it! If your looking for a well maintained and organized gym I recommend checking out this gym! read more

I joined the 6-weeks kickboxing challenge and I was able to only attend a month of if before I had to leave the country for a mandatory trip. However, I can't be grateful enough for the amazing experience that Total MMA Studios provided me within this one month. Not only I was able to lose a good amount of weight and 4% body fat, my mental health turned into a much better shape as well and all my negative feelings turned into happiness, energy and motivation. I recommend this Studio and specially this challenge to anyone who wants to give kickboxing a try because even if MMA is not the best fit for you, the least you can get from joining this team is finding some great friends. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful, and they will do everything they can to direct you into the right path. Overall, joining this team was one of my best decisions in life and I can't wait to come back to the U.S. and join them again. read more

This is a great place for Jiujitsu or MMA. I have not done any Muay Thai, or cardio etc. However, the guy who teaches Muay Thai is on a billboard on the 55, so I'm guessing he is pretty good. Its not really a place to go get belts, but I have learned about fighting pretty quick here. There is generally plenty of people willing to train with you, even if it is after class. there are a lot of advanced fighters there, but most train at your level. I have been there for about 5 weeks, and am very satisfied. Staff, friendly but do demand respect. Some with a smile, and others are more stern. Members, very gracious in my experience, and quite friendly. Schedule, they could update this a bit. there is actually a lot more stuff to train than even the schedule states. they seem to add classes, but not update. Gym, Large and open. I would guess 5000-8000sf. Price, they have prices on the site. its more than weight style gyms, but the classes are more like private lessons. read more

If your up for a challenge and want to get one of the best kickboxing/cardio workouts, then Total MMA Studios is the place for you! Not only do they just have kickboxing but they also have regular boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes than you can take daily with the nicest trainers that you will meet. I have been at this gym for about 6 months now and I can say that I have learned a lot of boxing techniques. And my cardio has never been better than what it is now! I just have more energy to do anything now! Oh and I have met a lot of new great friends here as well who are also up for the challenge! On Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:30pm, join Raquel's boot camp class! She'll put you through one of the best cardio workouts ever! read more

I was recommended this gym by a friend. I could not be more satisfied. I started off with the six week program, learning Brazilian jujitsu. All class instructors were very helpful and always trying to help. I fully recommend this gym to anyone that is interested in learning jujitsu or other martial arts. read more

I trained BJJ here until I had to move to the east coast, and based on other gyms I have been to I highly recommend this place whether you want to try BJJ for the first time or compete with the team. The coaches are very supportive and push you to improve, I saw many people transform from complete beginners to competitors in tournaments. If I were to move back to the OC I would go back to this gym in a heartbeat. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

I've been coming to Total MMA for almost 2 years now and it has become my second home to me. In that time, I've tried everything from cardio kickboxing and boot camps with Chris and Raquel to jiu jitsu with Juliano and Junior, BUT I've settled myself to become a regular to the muay thai/MMA classes with Paolo. All of them are fantastic coaches and have such positive energy that really makes you push for your best in every session. I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for a fun kind of workout to check out this gym. Every class is always different so you will never be bored! read more

the 6 week program was really fun and i liked all the coaches. i mainly worked with eric and paolo in the cardio kickboxing and muay thai classes. they both helped me out a lot with my form and were always happy to answer any questions read more

I've been to a bunch of gyms over the past 20+ years and can say that I finally found my home gym. This one is really focused on getting wins at tournaments and MMA bouts which speaks volumes. They could care less for belt promotions unless earned and not paid for. In order to win said events they teach not only the techniques but the little details which makes the techniques work more effectively. It's hard to explain all of the details about this learning system they've developed so I'd suggest to give them a try first hand to see what I've been experiencing. To top it all off, everyone here is so polite and pleasant to work with. I totally expected meathead mentality but this gym doesn't put up with that at all. Everyone here is more like the best neighbor friend that you've grown up with for the last 20 years. It's also a tad rare to find a lot of black belts at any gym but this gym has a ton of them. Lots of big named fighters also drop in here so photo ops are a fun thing too. read more

Recently signed up for the cardio kickboxing classes. They are fun and challenging and the instructors are great. Especially have enjoyed coach Paulo's classes - he explains technique very well and will give personal attention to students to improve their form Memebership is laid back and they don't push for long contracts to be signed. On site shower are a plus too! read more

the best staff i have ever met hands down ! Such great service and amazing set up. The classes are fantastic as well to. great atmosphere and great music during them. I'm so happy to be training again and feel very comfortable training here. Also if you want to save some money i recommend taking advantage of the 39.00$ yelp deal right now. Good gym for fun classes.. My complaint is for the billing.. I ended my membership after one year of commitment .. Told them to cancel my membership. Was promised that they would do it & stop charging my credit card. However, they continued to charge my credit card for another 6 months. I called multiple times requesting refund .. They promised to check into it & will send a check out every time .. But they never did... Someone working there is not being honest.. I'm really sorry to say that ., So .. Beware !!! read more

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to see about trying a free class or signing up. I was disappointed to find the place empty and closed. Also, the website offers ZERO help as to when classes are bcuz all it consistently says is "There are no classes scheduled for today" HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO GAIN NEW CLIENTS IF YOU AREN'T OPEN AT REASONABLE TIMES WHEN ALL THE OTHER GYMS ARE AND YOUR WEBSITE SHOWS YOU OFFER ZERO CLASSES??? read more

LOVE this gym!!! They have GREAT workout classes for every type of person and make you feel very welcome. Find Raffi, he is so helpful and doesn't make you feel uncomfortable if you aren't at the same level as everyone. He's amazing! This is the perfect place for beginners-advanced! read more

First off, the facility is in excellent shape. One of the first things I look for in a gym is cleanliness and this takes that seriously. It's even more important for a gym that revolves around contact sports. The staff is super friendly and their coaches are top notch. I've never felt unwelcome there, since day one everyone there has made me feel at home. I rate this business highly and would suggest it to any friend that is looking for a great team of staff to help them with their fitness goals! read more

In all honesty, one of the best training facilities for MMA in Orange County. The instructors are very friendly (my kids love them too), the staff are friendly, and the facilities are top notch. I am no spring chicken and the trainers are mindful and are totally cool with you going at your own pace vs. some studios being a bit overly aggressive. Give it a try... read more

I sweated more than I have in a looong time.. Cool place, Not intimidating at all. only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because of the prices...Im a student, im lucky if I can afford groceries for the month let alone a pricey membership. Fitness aint cheap people..but if you talk to the manager, he's a nice guy who'll try to help you out. Great place! read more
