As early as the year before, I visited the Candor Showroom in Markham to see their sample materials and to discuss possible options. They were most hospitable and accommodating and showed me what they could do to replace my kitchen surfaces and cabinetry. I was immediately impressed with the variety of options for kitchen counters, flooring, as well as cabinet designs, surfaces, materials, colors and hardware. Also discussed new layouts and overall design to create a more functional and easier-to-use kitchen all around. Truly impressive and most professional, at great affordable prices. Candor Cabinets is a small company that provides most personalized services, the Owners are passionate to provide the best product and services. They came to my house to advise me on cabinet design including how to make my shelves and cabinets more functional and efficient for our family use. They designed a more efficient cabinet system to add more shelf space giving us additional storage space for all of our kitchen equipment and food items. Something as simple as a narrow spice cabinet, a specific garbage cabinet, and new door openings to navigate all formerly-under-utilized odd corner spaces, were all put to life with simple door openings and design. Incredible! Their cabinet design allowed for a much more efficient kitchen layout. It all seems so simple, but truly a game changer! The cabinet installers were very efficient, extremely particular, and very careful with the cabinet installation. I was most impressed with the detailing they went through, and all the careful craftsmanship to deliver a beautiful new kitchen. I was truly impressed with their work. That included the quartz countertop installation. Even the veining of the design was taken into account so that it matched slabs which were cut and positioned together. Thank you, Candor Cabinets, the installation team and of course the manufacturing team. I highly recommend this company. They will work with you and your budget, as well as deliver your work according to the schedule you have. So, the best I can do is recommend them as much as I can. You will not be disappointed. Long story short, the truck was a day late costing me $$ for workers that were waiting for materials and delaying the project. I called and spoke to Amanda who claims she is the manager and I asked how she would make this right since it cost me a bundle because of their error. She said she would phone me back. She didn't. I called again and left her a message. No call back. Called again, and she happened to pick up the phone ... she said she forgot about my situation (genious customer service right there), and she wasn't really willing to do much anyway. The customer service here is terrible. I was looking for a bit of ownership to the problem and proactiveness to make things right. I get it, things happen. But when you get rude people who "forget" about your situation it's really an example of a company that could care less about their customers. She finally credited me a small amount, but it wasn't close to the cost of the delay. After everything, the low level of customer service made me more furious than the delayed truck. The designer, Laura, created a number of kitchen design options for us, which made it much easier to visualize the possibilities and choose what worked best for our lifestyle and budget. Decisions were made and a contract written up that itemized everything. A schedule was provided to us so we knew what to expect each and every week. Updates were provided when necessary. Excellent communication throughout the project. The renovation itself was a major three-month project, and they finished only a couple of days beyond the projected timeline, which was amazing given the scope of the work. They were also very budget conscious and suggested ways to cut costs where appropriate without compromising quality or style. The finished main floor is beautiful, functional, and welcoming. The materials used are high quality, and the colours and styles were chosen with great attention to detail and exactly to my taste. Since the renovation was completed, we have done so much more entertaining and truly enjoy spending time in the space every day. Garage Build--Reliable, Professional, Detailed and Efficient…read more I had a great experience working with Grand Building and Contracting Ltd. I hired them to remove and construct a new garage. Adam and his team understood the entire scope of the work. I was provided with a detailed schedule, timelines, and estimate before commencing the project. There was an issue with a city tree on my neighbour's property that had to be dealt with. Other contractors vanished at this point in the project. Adam guided me on what steps I had to take and the necessary paperwork I needed to file with the city over the course of seven months. When the project was finally approved, the trades workers were on time, highly skilled, professional and efficient. Adam was there at the beginning and end of every part of the construction. I greatly appreciated the regular communications I received. He even made sure my neighbours were satisfied with how the construction was effecting them. We were looking to do a major remodel of our home that initially included the kitchen, master…read morebathroom and guest bathroom.We had very specific needs due to a member of our family being handicapped. I interviewed several different contractors/companies, none of which understood the scope of the project we were looking to do, none factored in the handicap needs, all evident by the quotes and proposals received. What surprised us initially, was Simon's philosophy and approach being a resource and industry expert in what they do...more so than the sale itself. Simon made several follow-up visits to our home to see how the home was being used, how we functioned in the house and get a better idea as to our needs to best transform the areas to make it beautiful and extremely functional as well. Simon developed several amazing designs which were tweaked from likes/dislikes of each to create the final design plans. Honestly, truly amazing, some stuff we would have never thought of. The master bathroom was the hardest of the projects, as it had to be handicapped assessable from all aspects...particularly the shower area. The master bath project was a total gut, required major plumbing work/relocation, reworking the area to include a very large handicapped assessable shower area with seamless roll in capability, wet/dry area, built in shelves, bench seating both in the wet and dry area, grab bars, etc. A raised toilet was incorporated, design of which you can't tell it was raised...matching the exact shape of the toilet. New tile laid, increased storage and functionality of the vanity area and a to die for master closet for such a limited space. It was truly a work of art. The kitchen was transformed to include a true island, all new cabinetry, counter tops and transformation of the pantry from the normal drab bi-fold's with wire shelves, to cabinetry, counter top, etc...that makes it look and function like and extension of the kitchen. Several neighbors saw and said WOW...something no one thought of doing. The guest bathroom a definite upgrade from what the builder did initially. We also ended up redoing all the flooring in the living areas of the house, replaced all of the interior doors to solid core doors, replaced several main light fixtures and all of the plumbing fixtures/hardware. We found BBE to be a truly one stop shop for all your remodeling needs from cabinetry, countertops, flooring, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, etc...all of which we purchased through BBE which made the process much less of a hassle and actually quick enjoyable...as they showed us a large selection of everything...and if they don't have it...they ordered it..We have since completed a second project with Simon and his team that included replacing all windows to impact glass and redoing another closet in the second bedroom, transforming it from the normal bi-fold's with wire shelves, to a beautiful built in...another great idea and design. Bottom, line, if you're looking to do any remodeling work...any scope in size...we would highly recommend Simon and his team. Simon and his team were great to work with, extremely knowledgeable, did quality work, courteous and clean during all phases of our project. Follow up was great during the entire project and Simon and his team was always reachable.
