Shawn built 3 actual crates for the three sections of the clock. I was impressed by the workmanship of just the crates themselves!!! Everything precisely measured and cut -- more than I ever expected to be done to protect the clock. When the clock arrived (safely--of course) to FL, the movers hired another man to uncrate the clock and get it working again. Even the man in FL who uncrated it commented about the beauty of the crates! He even asked if I would mind if he took the wood that was used to build the crates (with the thought of reusing it the next time he was called to make a crate for a customer who is moving something delicate). I thought that was the ultimate compliment to Shawn: that another woodworker recognized the workmanship that went into building the crates. If that's the way Shawn builds crates -- I can only imagine what a great job he'd do when remodeling!
