The last time I went to this salon, my experience was disappointing. $40 for a haircut and $15 for a trim. What is the difference? Not to mention, the stylist (Tiara) does not seem knowledgeable on natural type 4 hair and did a less than average job giving me full highlights. I paid almost $300 for full highlights, and after she was done you couldn't even see them. Not to mention, she kept recommending me products that were not economical by any means and in general couldn't give me solid hair advice. If you wanna go to this salon, don't book her.

I have a new home now and stylist who will go above and beyond to help me on my new journey. The first thing that scored points for me is how easy it was to book a last minute appointment by phone. I really hate the online booking systems stylist have you go through hoops to book with them. The required deposits like I'm renting an apartment. Ain't nobody got time for all of that when you're busy !!!!! Pretty Mane treats clients like human beings. I booked an appointment with Tiara on a Friday evening for the next day. The phone etiquette they extended was phenomenal. This salon is very pretty and feminine. Beautiful colors. Once I arrived Tiara greeted me and took my temperature. I scheduled services to remove a sew in, Silk Press and dust my ends. Tiara is extremely kind and professional. She did not take another client while styling me. She did not rush through my service. She took her time and was meticulous. She cleansed my hair perfectly. She didn't overuse shampoo, scrub hard or use products to weigh my hair down. She finger detangles your hair and did not abuse a comb or wrestle with my curls. When she finger detangled the conditioner is really worked and I was very impressed by this technique. The wash chairs were extremely comfortable with a leg rest to elevate your tired feet. Tiara used the perfect temperature to wash and rinse my hair. She did a really good blow out and the press was perfection. Lastly she wrapped my hair and sat me under the dryer to lock the moisture in. Loved this technique ! My hair has a lot of body and shine. We discussed products and the new GK smoothing treatment that is best if you want to have less frizz and versatility as a natural. I can't wait to visit Tiara again and bring my little girl. I am truly 100% satisfied with my experience today. That's a lot coming from me. There are a lot of talented stylists who work here. From natural, sew-ins, color, braids, Brazilian blow outs.

Definitely chose the wine. The ambience is nice, relaxed and spa-y. Lots of colors to choose from, but the lighting is pretty dark in there, so it's kind of hard to know what color you're really choosing. Although I had a quickie mani, I don't feel my nails and cuticles were taken care of, actually I don't think anything was done to them period. The polish was layered on a little thick, and chipped/ dented after I left because it wasn't fully dry. I appreciate that I got a discount for being a nurse and checking into Facebook (look on their site for weekly deals), and that made it worth while, otherwise, not entirely sure I would come again.

Hmmm ... first name and location was ringing a distant bell. Rewind about 2-3 years earlier. My high school daughter phones SOBBING, hyper-ventilating, unable to speak. Thought she had been in an auto accident. No... my hairdresser at a Cary salon dismissed my daughter from his chair when he learned that she had a specific style in mind for the evening's event with a curt: "I don't do prom do's!" and he whips the gown off her!! My daughter goes from booked salon to booked salon until she happens upon the salon where Krista worked at the time. Krista, with a daughter that age as well, on her feet all day, ready to call it a day, does my daughter's hair at 4:30 or 5:00 that Saturday afternoon out of sheer compassion and empathy because she has a huge heart! Now fast forward to present day, 6/15/13. I had to leave the Raleigh-area in December and am currently living at the coast. Sure miss my hairdresser in Apex: Krista at kj hair spa!! I will get back over the summer one of these days for an appointment. Even after I had relocated to the coast, I kept Saturday appointments with Krista until the house settled. Krista walks on water, as far as I am concerned, for what she did for a young lady with a broken heart on prom day. If I ever win the lottery, girlfriend, ... !!! : )

To my surprise; I received a text from, Sonia saying since she was not going to do my partners hair anymore she's going to refund my money and wished me good luck as well ! I was shocked. Not only did she not do my color in a lasting way; she dismissed me as a customer !! I was a very good customer to, Sonia. She had washing bowls that hold your head... yes, you read that right, no having to kink your neck and pretend its okay for the 10+ min at the wash bowl. The owner was also the receptionist and was the one to do my hair (she was the only one there)...I have brown hair with grown out highlights for reference. I wanted to get them touched up and framed around my face, and she said that she would have to do full highlights and a balayage, which was 400 dollars. I have never spent that much on my hair ever and I have been getting it done for over 8 years. My hair framing my face was still yellow when I was finished and not toned at all, and to make it even better their internet was out so I couldn't pay. Her husband was on the phone with her and suggested I leave my card number down and they could charge it and I could leave, and obviously I said no. The woman was so nice and let me go home after I asked to have their Venmo. At the beginning she mentioned giving me a discount because I was new, but then after leaving and almost home (I live 40 mins away), I called to verify her Venmo before giving her the money and she tells me their system is working again so I need to come back and pay. Once I got there, she told me my total was now 400 dollars and that wasn't including tip. I hadn't gotten my hair done in a year bc my hair lady quit and I am so scared to have anyone new do my hair and I was looking forward to having it done again looking good based on the reviews. Not only that but I also had the right amount of money based on their prices from the website and thought it couldn't be any more than 230 and it ended up being over 400. I'm back to not having anyone to do my hair and am scared to trust anyone new again. Before writing this review I thought it wasn't too bad but now realizing all that had happened I will not ever go back again.
