So when National Geographic named the Top 10 places in the world to eat ice cream, Vaffelbageriet…read moreactually ranked #9. I didn't realize I was patronizing the ninth best ice cream parlor in the world when I took a sweet-tooth respite during my leisurely evening stroll in the world-famous Tivoli Gardens last September. In fact, I didn't know the place had a name, but I just saw a herd of toddlers with over-sized cones and followed the drip marks on the pavement. Those led me to a very festive-looking pavilion with a welcoming counter chock full of sweet treats not the least of which was ice cream. Apparently, the name of the place is Danish for ice cream served in large waffle cones, which no surprise, is their house specialty. Their most popular item is the Amerikaner, a decadent-looking mountain of ice cream in a waffle cone, four scoops worth ladled with some syrupy, only-in-Europe topping, dollops of whipped cream, and a chocolate-covered meringue puff rather than the expected maraschino cherry. It doesn't look like anything I've seen in the states, but it's called the Amerikaner because it's the picture of unhealthy excess, I'm guessing. What a reputation we have across the pond. I refuse to live down to my stereotype and went for a good old-fashioned vanilla soft-serve waffle cone covered in chocolate sprinkles, large of course (see photo). Sure, it was still decadent but at 30 DKK (Danish krone) or $5.32, it was a relative bargain. And frankly, it was one of the creamiest cones I've ever had, which of course, means it's still sitting in my thighs all these months later. No matter since it hit the spot, and for Pete's sake, or I guess I should say for Per's sake, it was Tivoli, and you're supposed to have carnival food. So stop judging me. Anyway, I don't know if Vaffelbageriet is truly the ninth best ice cream in the world, but who's complaining? ICE CREAM - 4 stars...creamy excess that may give you a diabetic coma AMBIANCE - 4 stars...cute spot with plenty of seats if you need recovery time from the Star Flyer SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly servers keep you in a good mood here TOTAL - 4 stars...big globs of ice cream in a warm, freshly baked waffle cone in the middle of Tivoli Gardens...I can dig it

Hello everyone We…read morevisited the Trivoli Gardens when we were in town and that was a pretty nice theme park to walk around in. Kind of reminds me of a knotts berry farm and one of our L.A. fairs kind of mashed together. When we visited this small desert cafe my wife and I got a waffle with nutella, cream and 2 scoops of ice cream. The waffle was nice and crispy and the addition of the nutella, cream and ice cream made it just about complete. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up coming back towards the end and ordering another! Have fun everyone!

Known for its dipped soft serve ice cream and waffle cones. We selected the small dipped soft serve and single scoop Bailey's Iris Cream ice cream. The ice cream was delicious and flavorful. The soft serve was huge and had a creamy soft and fluffy texture. Not too sweet. The chocolate dip was on the thicker side and similar to Dairy Queen's chocolate taste, but with a thicker coating. Our server spoke and understood enough English to make the transaction simple and fast. There was a line going in and they handled the orders smoothly and quickly. The location does not have any bathroom. There are small tables in the heated dining area. Overall, a nice experience in Nyhavn, Denmark.

Can we go back two days in a row??? No pics of my families order because they already started eating it immediately, before I even finished paying.

Flavors and presentations were so precise, chef Eric presented courses himself and his lovely wife Tina made sure to make everyone feel right at home. Part of the charming Gentofte municipality near Copenhagen, just twenty minutes by train, Jordnær dates back to Vildgaard's teen years when cooking gave clarity to troubled youth, his wife and mother of six children described as "someone to live for" serving as front-of-house manager who also greets guests and even answers e-mails. Part of ARP-Hansen Hotel Group's Gentofte Hotel, though nothing about Jordnær feels like a "Hotel Restaurant," it is after greetings from Tina that guests are led to a room both simple and elegant featuring light colors, glass, traditional lamps and a fireplace. Sharpened by three years at noma, though Eric's cooking expands well past fermentation and foraging in favor of ideal Ingredients that sometimes come from outside Scandinavia, opening bites are best enjoyed with Champagne and range from a delicate King Crab Bonbon or Lobster and Roe in a Tuile to a Tart of silky Tuna topped by a spoonful of Ossetra Imperial Caviar. Completely meat-free, though Eric is not a pescatarian, Jordnær's Rosset Waffle has become something of a signature piped with Fjord Shrimp Mousse beneath more Caviar while a Scallop skewered over White Currant Juice and its follow-up of "Langoustine Essence" are each two faultless bites then gone. Assertive with Oysters in a bath of Horseradish and Dill, then pulling the reins with Panna Cotta featuring Asparagus, Grapefruit and Lobster, Caviar makes another appearance as the Vildgaards' favorite Beluga Sevruga variety eaten in several spoonfuls amidst Miso and Black Currant Wood Oil. Never pretentious, Tina and Eric both presenting plates to each table even with Michelin starred Chefs dining alongside their spouses nearby, Amberjack arrives curled on clear glass awaiting Ponzu prior to housemade Bread plus Butter churned nearby. Taking no shortcuts, slowly cooked Turbot showing mother-of-pearl luminescence beneath a thin layer of truffled Farce, the Langoustine used previously for its essence soon arrives whole in warm Sauce before a sizable Takoyaki intended to be bitten in half with Truffle and Caviar consumed before using the bottom as a sponge on the plate. Well portioned with timely service, staff adapting to a diner's speed without a hitch, Dessert begins via smooth Mousse atop Berries before proceeding to a ring of herbal Custard and "Chamomile, Milk, Honey" that replicates a Honeycomb's appearance so accurately that one wonders if it is 3D printed. Not done yet, Mignardises highlighted by French classics and a warm Custard Tart served with Coffee or Tea clipped tableside, a final charming moment amongst dozens occurs as Tina leads guests to the exit and presents them with Bread, Butter and a signed Thank You note along with the menu.

That said, there are only 2 girls working the house and they were very nice and worked non stop. The food was really great! Though they ran out of baked potatoes and the salad bar was running thin, we ate well. As an American living in Sweden this was the closest to a home meal and a proper sized and cooked steak. Add a person to the front of the house and this is really a great little place.

When we were in Malmö last November and wanted to eat here (we haven't booked a table and the…read morerestaurant was crowded), we were told to come back in about 70 minutes. Our hunger was too big back then, so we went some place else. This time we went there again. The weather was nice and we could sit outdoors in the pedestrian zone. We've ordered the Whiskeybiff, ta-själv-saladsbüffe with a baked potato and the 3-rätters meny BBQ burgare (Nachos, Burger and a dessert of your choice). The nachos were rather a huge portion, topped with lots of cheese and were nearly a main course (according to my filled belly!) :) The Whiskeybiff was medium (as ordered) and delicious as well as the sauce was. My other fellow traveller chose everything she wanted from the salad buffet and the baked potato was big, the sour cream could have been a bit more though. The burger was ... I'm about to say "the best I've ever tried", 'cause simply I've never experienced such a good taste in a burger before. (My belly was full now, still one course to come!) ;) I went for the waffle with soft-ice and strawberry jam. Well, I'm not much of a fan of a sugar-coated waffle. They probably chose that sort, so that the melting ice cream wouldn't make the waffle even softer. The waitress was very nice, helpful and considerate. Saw what needed to be done and did it. Only the music outside could be turned down a little. ;)

We tried Grød at two locations: the Torvehallerne market and at 7Eleven. The market, I ordered the Oat Porridge which came with apples, roasted almonds and caramel sauce, my mom had the All In! and my dad had the oat waffle. All of us (mostly) left satisfied. My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. Grød may not have intended it but this lil Westerner is now leveling up her oats game thanks to their menu!
