Our bucket of grunts and yellow fin waiting to be fileted
    Linda P.

We are a family that enjoys fishing, whether it be our little local pond stocked with sunny's or surf fishing off the coast in LBI. We have gone out several times on deep sea fishing party boats in LBI so are familiar with the routine. Knowing that Key West has some of the best fishing in the world, I researched fishing trips. Many of the trips that are highly reviewed on Yelp are private charters, meaning that a fisherman will personally take you out on his boat and help you fish. These private charters will run you $600 or more...... So I looked into the party boat option. What an amazing day we had on the Tortuga Party Boat!!! Luck was definitely on our side. 1. The boat has the capacity to bring 49 guests to fish. The day of our trip there were only 16 guests booked. It was like a private charter. 2. The first mate Ray was just a great guy. Friendly, helpful. He took us to four different locations, and sure enough, our last stop turned out to be the motherload of fish. As soon as we dropped our lines in that beautiful azure clear water, we would get a bite. At the end of the day we had over 3 lbs of fish that were fileted for us. We ended up going to Turtle Kraals with our filets and had a great dinner. I highly recommend the Tortuga. The captain and the first mate went out of their way to search the seas so everyone would have a successful fishing trip. Finally, as the Tortuga pulls in to dock and the First Mate begins to cut up and filet all the fish that were caught that day..............a huge group of Tarpon will gather at the boat to eat the scraps that are tossed overboard into the water. This is an amazing site to see. (Tarpon are gigantic fish, some 6 feet in length). On our day, an Goliath Grouper, that must have weighed over 250 pounds, also came by to scavenge. It was incredible to see a fish that large so close!!!

    my 25 lb grouper!

For $55 each my boyfriend and I had a wonderful morning on the ocean. We both caught several fish and I even caught the biggest of the day! There are a lot of charter companies in KW that will charge $800+ for a small group but the "party" atmosphere was nice. You meet great people from all over and shoot the breeze while your'e fishing. The crew was so helpful, knowledgeable and fun. By the end of the day the two of us caught about a dozen fish, 9 of which we could keep. Unfortunately the 25 lb grouper had to go back in the sea. If you're down in KW, definitely go out on Tortuga!

Grouper. Has to throw it back because it was out of season, but fun to catch!

Judy the owner was super. We called her after our fishing trip in Key Largo got cancelled due to wind because she was recommended by our Key Largo charter as they were refunding us. I was a little worried going on a single recommendation (instead of meticulously researching), but I'm so happy I didn't. Tortuga IV was everything a good party boat should be: easy to book! easy to find (right next to accessible public parking)! SUPER awesome, knowledgeable, and helpful captain, crew (Jeremy & Kevin were great). We weren't getting into fish at first, and they moved around, kept us motivated, and even stayed out a little longer so we could all hook into some great fish. They really cared about us catching fish and weren't indifferent to our experiences, as I've noticed some crews can get with their party boat customers. Clean heads (bathrooms) and reasonably priced beer and water on board. Totally great experience. Would highly recommend.

Decided last minute to spend our last day in the Keys doing a little deep sea fishing; we're so glad we did! We had 3 stops total and Mick was so quick to help us anytime we had a fish or a snag. Between the two of us we caught about 16 total, 8 of which were big enough to keep. We took them across the dock to Dante's for their hook & cook per the recommendation of the crew; they were spot on. We loved everything we tried. They were so friendly & accommodating! I wasn't dressed for fishing as it wasn't in the plans and Mick brought me a long sleeved shirt to wear so I didn't freeze. They have snacks and drinks available on board for cash only, don't forget to bring some cash for the guys as well; they work for tips only and are SO GREAT!! If we're ever back in the area we'll for sure use them again.

Such a great time! Captain Bill and Josh were the best, if you're looking for a fun and casual trip in the keys this is it. We ate our yellow tails about an hour after

Not the best charter not the worst. It was ok with a few positive and a few negative. Needed 1 more deckhand.

** Amazing Day with Salty Goat Deep Sea Fishing Charter**…read more On Sunday, March 1, our group had the absolute best experience with **Salty Goat Deep Sea Fishing Charter**. There were six people in our party plus two additional guests, and from start to finish the trip was incredible. Our captain, Ashley, and first mate, Paul, were fantastic. The entire five-hour trip was fun, relaxing, and full of great moments. On the way out to our private fishing spot--where there were *plenty* of fish--we saw so much wildlife including turtles, dolphins, jellyfish, and pelicans. It was an amazing way to start the trip. Once we reached the fishing spot, Ashley and Paul were incredibly helpful and patient, guiding us through the process and sharing their knowledge about the different fish we caught. Thanks to them, we ended up with a cooler full of fish! They were also very patient with me as I kept getting my line tangled and "making a nest" with my reel--LOL. The whole atmosphere on the boat was perfect. We had great music playing, lots of laughs, and really fun conversations. Ashley and Paul are clearly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely enjoy what they do, which made the trip even better. One of the most memorable moments came on the way back when we noticed a young pelican struggling in the water. Ashley and Paul carefully rescued it, brought it onto the boat, and contacted Fish and Wildlife so the bird could be picked up safely when we returned to the dock. It was amazing to see how much they care about the wildlife around them. To top off an already incredible day, when we got back to the dock Ashley and Paul cleaned and filleted all of our fish and packaged it up for us. We brought it to a local restaurant that prepared one of the best meals we've ever had. This charter is the **real deal**--a knowledgeable, fun, and laid-back crew who clearly love the ocean and sharing the experience with others. We had such a great time and will *definitely be back to fish with Ashley again*. Highly recommend!

I'm so glad we did! The boat was equipped with everything we needed - had a bathroom, mini fridge for your lunch, they provided a cooler with plenty of water for the day which was very nice. We had fun catching a variety of fish, including mahi mahi, Bonita, one little tuna and the biggie: a white marlin, which was an unexpected surprise for us all and the highlight of our outing. Jesse worked tirelessly the entire time and it was an overall fantastic day. Once we returned back to the dock, he filleted our mahi for us and we took it over to Kaya Island eats per his recommendation which was the perfect end to a fun, tiring but successful day on the water. If you want a great day with nice, knowledgeable folks who will work hard to make your day memorable, I highly recommend booking with Linda D. UPDATE: Went out again on Wednesday and had an equally fantastic time w/captain Billy & Jesse. We caught several mackerel, king fish (including one very large one) and a few barracuda - the weather was beautiful and it was fun to catch such a different variety of fish over our couple of outings - our dinner was again delicious :) We will for sure be back!

We were on the water for about 1/2 day and plenty long enough to get some sun and catch enough to have a mess of fish for dinner later. We fished and moved to at least 4 spots. Don't forget the hand sanitizer -- you'll be glad you did after handling bait and (hopefully) any fish you catch! When we returned to the dock, the crew prepped and filleted our catch for a nominal fee. Tips are appreciated and should definitely be considered a standard practice by patrons and not just a courtesy. Well earned after the hard work of a day on the water. The boat charter can accommodate about 40 passengers; however, on the day we went, we were at about 2/3 capacity. Customers were a wide skill range from rookies to regulars. We took our fresh prepped fish home and sautéd it later for an impromptu house party for 7 diners. Great experience to be able to eat something we'd caught earlier that day!
