My husband and I like having date night and we heard this place was a good place to try. First off it's hard to find decent Mexican food out here. This place wasn't too far off! It's a nice big place, and yes a reservation is needed because for as many tables as there are, they fill up quick. I ordered the trio fajitas which came with shrimp, steak and chicken. Was kinda disappointed I only got three tiny shrimps, but the seasoning and the way the steak and chicken was cooked definitely made up for it. This is probably the best Mexican you will find in town. I have tried various Mexican restaurants throughout Germany and this is definitely ranking the best so far. The service was very prompt and our waitress was quick to offer any suggestions if needed. We all enjoyed our various meals. The salsa was lacking some extra flavor. I think the recipes could be spiced/seasoned a little more to add more flavor. I found many of the dishes to be a little bland, but nonetheless better than anything I have seen in the area so far. A caldo de pollo would be a tasty addition to the menu as well! Maybe even a black bean soup! We also tried the cheese dip. If you're looking for the classic White queso, this is more of a mix that reminds me of a cross between spinach dip and queso. Tasty, but not your classic Tex-mex white quest you're likely imagining. The mixed strawberry/lime margarita was disappointing for me personally. It was overly sweet and syrup-y. If that is your thing, then it is probably perfect for you. I am looking forward to returning to try the classic frozen lime margarita. Also, be sure to bring your cash and make a reservation! They do not accept cards. The first and probably last time eating at Tortuga Tex-Mex I was with a party of 8 and we had booked reservations 3 weeks ago the staff was nice and the restaurant was clean as well the waitress was quick to get our drinks and our orders as well. Only a few things I had issues with the wait time for our food it took about 30-40 minutes for everyone at our table to get our meal I had the carne asada quesadilla with grilled veggies and a side of chips with 3 different salsa which was not to bad the Mango salsa was my favorite the other issue was at the time while we were there they only excepted cash. If you've lived in Germany long enough, you know there aren't many places to eat Mexican food and this place hits! Yeah it may be Tex-Mex but it tastes absolutely amazing when you've been taco-deprived. It's always packed here so make sure you RSVP especially with bigger groups. This is hands down THE best spot to grab dinner and some margaritas before going out to the bars. They make them strong af! The lime margarita on the rocks would be my personal favorite, but the strawberry is good too. Oh, and Das Boot is a must! It's about 17 euros and a shit ton of beer, but an awesome pre-game experience and worth it. The best thing to order is the chimichangas without a doubt! The only Mexican restaurant out here in Grafenwoehr. It's alright, I guess. I'm from California, so I'll be perpetually disappointed t the quality, but it's not completely terrible. I always get the platters. Retried beans are very "meh". Enchiladas are surprisingly good. Burritos are not bad at all. Fajitas (my mother's choice) are decent. I must say, though, that the margaritas are excellent! All in all not a terrible place to go if you're missing Mexican food from back home. It certainly beats Taco Bell. read more

After tonight's rendezvous, I can't help but get on the soap box a little. A group of us went to dinner, with a reservation, and were seated and placed our orders in a reasonable amount of time. However, 4 out of 5 orders arrived with no explanation and this lucky girl was the odd lady out...hooray! I realize German service can be different so I waited...and waited...and waited. All the servers must have been relaxing elsewhere because NOBODY came with food or explanation as to my lack of dinner. Finally, one of them was practically wrangled and coerced into providing customer service and we received an abundance of, as it happens, lip service. Neither satisfying nor edible. After much humming and hawing, we were able to piece together the order had gone amiss--deductive reasoning is not on the menu here. The combination of a nasty cold, an empty stomach, and a heaping dose of frustration....not a happy camper/customer. The only redeeming feature was receiving my meal on the house, at the behest of my dinner-mates....but by the time I got it, all I wanted was to go home. Food remains acceptable, but with such dismal service, I'd be happier and better-fed in my own kitchen, and that's not exactly the point of going out. A group of happy and humble Americans requested seating for 11 individuals. A typical and business oriented restaurant would appreciate such great business. ( Excellent tips plus a €200 plus bill). However a rude hostel came out to tell us they could seat us together. We then suggested separate seating, but she then responded that they could not serve that quantity of orders. So my question is why have a restaurant with empty tables that they can not fulfill. Just take the tables out instead of being false advertisement. Plus no attitude. Don't recommend!!!! read more

The only Mexican restaurant in town sooooo...it's the best by default. Staff was attentive and fast with the food. We ordered the Three Amigos as a starter. You choose from 7 or 8 types of sasa/cheese. Get the salsa Verde! Yummm!! The strawberry daiquiri was from a machine, but it had a lot of liquor in it. I give 4 stars because it's the best Mexican I've had in Germany. If this was in America I would give one star. The queso is good. Guacamole is good. Tacos are good. Chimichangas are great. This place is not up to par with the beloved Tex mex/Mexican restaurants back in the states that we are all used to, but it satisfies the cravings! Coming from San Antonio Texas, there isn't much in the way of good TexMex out herenin Bavaria, but this really is the closest you're going to get here and on top of that it's pretty delicious! We got the Laredo plate and their enchilada sauce is pretty on point and so are their quesadillas. Definitely get a reservation, you can even book online, but do it at least a couple days in advance if you have a specific time frame you want, at the very least a day out to get any spots because it's usually booked the day of. Don't even bother trying to walk in, they're always busy. Its a nice place but its also not a place to bring visiting relatives from the states because they can get this anywhere there, haha. It's pretty good for Tex Mex in germany, But it's always too hot in that place. They sometimes take more then 40 minutes for the food to come and sometimes it takes about 20 just for the server to come take our order. If I have to call you over to tell you we're ready to order that's a problem. Food is very tasty though. read more

My take on this place. Chips and salsa- seems like the chips are from a bag and not freshly made, some of them were stale but I are them because I was hungry. Dinner- I ordered the Barbosa burrito smothered in green sauce, I have got to say it was good, even better than the Tex-Mex Restaurant I went to in Texas. I've never had Tex-Mex until we moved here and this place is one of the closest restaurants to grab some mexican food while being here in Germany. My friend bought the taco salad and it looked good. My husband and I tried the quesadillas and hard tacos. Taste was pretty good. Definitely loved the strawberry daiquiri tho! This was the second time I've been here and customer service was great. The service was bad. We ordered extra salsa with our chip and it came 10 minutes later after the chip were gone. My wife's Margarita didn't have any tequila in it. The ordering system for more than 4 people takes a while, we had 7 people, which is a little more than normal but generally all have very easy orders. They use a tablet that you would think would generally save time. I personally felt it added time. Maybe the server just didn't know how to use it properly. Not sure, also. It's 2020. You should realllllllllllly be able to take card. That amazed me. Brand new location, all the upgrades in looks and style and comfort. Still no card, still just decent food. With that being said, for the area as far as I know there isn't any other Mexican/ Tex-mex type. So, if it's what your looking for it might be your only choice. read more

This place has a fun southwest theme with statues and painting throughout the interior of the building. I would liken it to a standard Mexican joint (that is making an effort) anywhere in the U.S. The food is good for the most part, but its really the small things that bring the score down, for example, the taco shells are very simillar to store bought ones and are clearly not the same ones that are pictured in the menu. There are other small things but I don't want to nit pick. This is 5 star for German Mexican food (I am from Texas). We had the 3 amigos dip sampler. The white queso was superb. The guac was good but it was either canned it blended with sour cream because the taste and color were a bit bland. The steak fajita meat was great, the shimp were peeled, big, and spiced perfectly and they did the chimichangas right. I highly recommend the tomatillo salsa. If you're expecting Houston quality of Mexican food you might be disappointed but we will be back here for sure. read more
