They usually take reservations because this is one of those French restaurants where a meal is 4-5 hours long, which is basically how long the restaurant is opened for dinner service. We got extremely lucky that they had one empty table for us. We also came right as they opened. There is literally one waitress and one sommelier. The waitress literally carried over a chalkboard with a handwritten menu. Our french is quite terrible, pardon! Luckily, the waitress had a really good fluency of English so she gave us a quick translation. Lots of seafood dishes, because you know, South of France and all that. As the dishes change day by day, I will say that we got a fish dish and a pork dish? There were also several appetizers. The sommelier comes over and recommends some natural wine choices. We got a local Rose. Bottles are better value when you have a group. It was an extremely enjoyable dinner. The dishes don't come out fast. It does take a while but I suggest that you do as the French and converse with friends over a glass of wine. The food will come out when they are ready and trust me, it'll be delicious.

Nice grilled filet of salmon but it came without sauce, rice topped with sauce, grilled to death veggies (I pulled some of the calamari on my plate). Spicy shrimp was overly cooked shrimp dumped in a chili oil sauce - not impressed. Calamari was good and plentiful. Spaghetti with meat sauce was ok. I enjoyed my salmon and calamari, but the rice was cold...nothing special. I used the rice to take some of the oil off my shrimp. Overall, service was very nice and attentive. Loved my salmon and calamari, and my wife liked her spaghetti and calamari as well. Thumbs down on the shrimp, rice and grilled to death veggies.

When my meal arrived the taste was AOK, but it was cooked medium-well rather than the way I had requested; I found the portion size a bit small as well. Service was acceptable, but nothing to write home about; I'd consider returning, but am in no hurry to do so.

I saw so many people stare at the menu and walk away and I so badly wanted to yell at them 'no, you /must/ eat here, it's amazing!' The first time I had a special menu item the crab avocado salad for 15 euros. It was SO fresh and in ample portion. The avocado was creamy, and the house mayonnaise was delectable and not in too large quantity. The crab was also very fresh and didn't have any fishy taste at all. If they happen to have this when you walk by, I'd definitely recommend it - it's a nice refreshing lunch. The house rose was also a nice touch. They have several tables outside with parasols - I really recommend it as you have a nice view of the pristine waters of Nice. The second time I had the mussels which come in a scrumptious truffle sauce with fries on the side. The portion was ENORMOUS. As one person I ate 2/3 of it and was bursting at the seams. The mussels themselves are small (about 2/3" - 1" in diameter), but very fresh - again no fish taste. It's the sauce that makes the dish. The fries are thick and has a nice crisp on the outside, fluff on the inside. Definitely recommend this as well for 19 euros it's a steal in France. The complimentary bread is also amazing - a very traditional hard crust on the outside and soft fluffy amazing bread on the inside. They'll provide you with some pats of butter if you ask. Service is amazing - as always ask if they speak English first before assuming that they do out of courtesy (although they do). Fast and efficient and pleasant.
