I should've looked at ratings before sitting for dinner. The restaurant was recommended by hotel staff. The pasta barely makes a 2.5 out of 5. I had arrabbiata sauce, medicore at best plus the bread was stale. Wine is overpriced, this is a tourist trap and I'm disappointed i ate here my first night in Nice. Highlights from our table of 5: Onion soup Beef tartare Duck confit Creme brulee Caipirinha Chocolate mousse Peach melba (actually pear, they were out of peach) Honestly, the star for me was the French Onion Soup--or as they call it here, onion soup. (Unavoidable dad joke. For that matter, it was a Nice Onion Soup! ) The soup's worth trying even on a hot June day. I'd gotten far too used to cheap imitations from Panera bread and the like. I literally don't think I can go back to those. It was so good. Creme brulee was similarly complex and delicious. It seems like most everything was good there though. Except, for me, the salmon on black rice with coconut curry was just OK. But it was probably a poor entree choice for me because I have those elements (salmon, black rice, coconut curry) all the time. Tough critic maybe. read more

The food here taste really bad and no customer service at all! Very slow service! Ambiance is also bad, it's noisy and by a busy street!

After a few hours at the pebble beach across the street me and my group were hungry so we went over to this restaurant. Looked nice and staff was pleasant. A couple of us decided to get the lunch special which was described as steak and mashed potatoes. But what we actually got was a not well cooked burger patty. Steak is very very far away from ground beef. As soon as I saw the plate I knew it was not going to be good. When I restaurant feels the need to draw on your plate its usually a bad sign. Needless to say I was not pleased. Lunch was a bust. The dessert was good at least, ice cream. Nothing else positive I can say. read more

Lovely ambiance and restaurant with delicious food. You're in the South of France so expect service to be leisurely. Nonetheless, our server was friendly and nice. We ate a lovely late night dinner and enjoyed the view of the gardens in the restaurant. They have TVs to watch important programs as well as a piano. It's touristy, but the food is good and the location is great. read more

Visited one evening in August, and had a fine meal. We ordered the foie Gras (theirs is seared, not a pâté), the Mussels in cream sauce, and the Escargot (not the juiciest I've had but still good). There was a loud table near us, smoking a vape pen, and clearly having a good time. The windows and doors were pulled wide open, and at one point someone got up from that table and stepped directly out into a hedge. That part was certainly memorable. The food was tasty and the ambiance was warm. Good place to try if visiting Nice. read more

This place should be packed! The food is absolutely terrific, service is prompt and friendly, atmosphere is comfortable inside and out. Do not be dismayed by the high vis location. This is not another over-priced, low expectation restaurant. The dinner menu is complete and fairly priced. Plates are assembled with care. The food (chèvre salad & salmon with coconut sauce over black rice) was perfectly portioned and prepared. Espresso was hot and strong. The music is perfectly suited to dining and easily allows for conversations. The band (guitar & harmonica) played French & American classics. Outdoor seating has good lighting and is not disturbed by the passing traffic. Service was well timed and friendly in both French and English. The hostess even offered a cover-up on this cool evening. Take a walk on the promenade after dinner for a perfect evening. Definitely a place to recommend. read more

The service was awful. We came here after the match between Poland and Northern Ireland at the Euro 2016. Although there were several empty tables, the waiter told us that we could not eat or even have a drink there. He wouldn't even try to explain why. He tried to tell us it's closed but when we called his bluff, he just said he would not wait on us. I guess he didn't want to overwork himself. Enough said - one star. Nevertheless: GO, POLAND!!!!!! #Euro2016 There are plenty of other places in Nice where you can celebrate your national team's first victory at the European championships! ;-) read more

I visited this place for a light breakfast. The location is right across from the beach, with patio and window seats. I had coffee and a croissant. My plate arrived with a flaky, buttery croissant, butter, jams and a baguette. For two people, our meal was $13 and it was delicous. Service was friendly and efficient. read more

Service was a little rough at first - different customs I think. I wanted coffee and they did not want to serve coffee without ordering lunch so I was ignored for a bit. The food was unreal I thought I was getting one of the items on the plate de jour but I got all 3 - sausage, lamb, chicken and a soup with a bunch a veggies yeah! On the Sidewalk 65 degrees looking at the Mediterranean Sea how could anyone complain about that. Nice in Nice (pronounced Neece). I would go back but, there's too many places to explore. read more

Went to this place recently on trip to Nice. We were staying at hotel around the corner. I normally avoid places in tourist area that are right on the main drag, and this place reinforces that thought. We didnt want to walk far and it had some decent reviews on another site. Even as we approached the place, my wife kind of knew it was a mistake but we forged ahead. It was a mistake. I recommend that you do not eat a meal at this place. For a coffee, ice cream, or mixed drink/beer I can see this place being a good landing spot. For any kind of real meal, it is not very good in just about any way. The server was really nice and helpful at the beginning and end of our meal, but for a very long stretch he disappeared and the other servers did not want to help us. So we had appetizer plates stacked up to make way for the main course, a general mess. The food was just not very good overall: bland, poorly prepared, and a jumble of styles. Even my daughter's pasta with butter sauce showed up about 3 minutes after we ordered, with no butter on it. When we got to this place it was earlier in the evening. After it filled up we realized about 95% of the people there were only having drinks or dessert. My wife couldnt take it, and decided to eat minimally and we went to another place afterwards, closer to Old Town area that was fabulous. In summary: do not have dinner at this place. Really good find right on the strip. I've had some bad experiences with cafes in Paris. But this was not the case. Got the 3 course meal with escargot, lamb chops and flan. The escargot has tons of flavor cooked with olive oil and the lamb was perfectly cooked as well. The portions were pretty large as well if you're hungry. Total price was 29 euros! Now that's deal by the shore. I ate at night, but imagine the view during the day is probably awesome. If you're staying in Nice, check this place out! read more

One star is too high. I can't comment on the food because we never got any. We watched the manager or owner yell at his waitstaff (while eating his food) for about 30 minutes so they never had time to come to our table and serve us. We finally got up and left, but this really didn't seem to bother them anyway, they were more interested in ignoring people. read more

I am vegetarian and I ordered a pasta dish described as cherry tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and mozaarella cheese. It sounded perfect for a warm summer evening. The pasta I received had a heavy red sauce that resembled a bolognese sauce with meat, there were about 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half. It was not what I expected, and I questioned the ingredients. The waiter was extremely rude in his responses. The dish looked totally unappetizing to me so I never tried the dish, I sent it back. When I received the bill, I was charged for the returned pasta. When I questioned it, both the waiter and owner came over to yell at me and tell me it was 'my problem' that I didn't want the pasta. read more

Don't order food here. Overpriced and terrible. Had the lamb and friture royale on salad. Dry lamb. Seafood dish was my mistake to not know this dish was fried seafood. It didn't taste good and the salad was actually a few leaves of lettuce and tomatoes under the oily fried seafood. Don't advertise salad if its garnish soaked in oil. Had one of the best meals. The staff was fun and very attentive. The owner loves his customers and made us feel like celebrities.

Witnessed what we assumed to be the owner yelling and screaming at his waitstaff, then proceeded to HIT a basket of bread ACROSS THE RESTAURANT! We laughed, but truth is it was very uncomfortable for everyone. Our server never returned and after several Monsieur!'s we gave up on another round of drinks.
