I've been a fan of Torrid for years, and I was very happy to hear that they were opening a store (finally) on the west coast in Canada that I could access within less than an hour drive. This store is getting on it's feet. The employees are all very lovely, and they're doing their very best. A few things though about the store itself:
1) There is a 45 minute plus wait for the changing rooms on the weekends. This is due to the very high demand and busyness of the store. It's a good thing. Maybe they'll see that they need to open another store or two in the lower mainland. Even getting there at opening on a Saturday doesn't help, because by the time you've shopped the store, the changing rooms are already busy.
2) The sizes are picked over. And again, this is just a testament on how badly we needed a store like this over here on the west coast in Canada.
3) When I asked one of the associates what Torrid bra's fit like-if they were comparable to AdditionElle's-she gave me noooot such great advice. I'm sure it was anecdotal so perhaps it was the case for her, but their bras fit much differently than AdditonElle's line of bras and that was annoying going in to the changing room with bras I would led to believe would fit and then really, really did not fit. And of course, since it was busy I wasn't willing to abandon my changing room turn to find bigger sizes so I ended up just leaving with none.
4) The prices are steeper. I don't know what it is but I still find that shopping in the states costs a little less, but then you have to factor in time and money spent on gas and then getting down to Bellingham. That might be a consideration for some. I get they're operating in Canada now so prices would come up but some of them make me tug at my collar.
5) The sizing in this store needs to be worked on. I'm not saying the clothing themselves but organization of the sizing. I'm sure it's difficult to keep everything from smallest to biggest with the store being so busy, but even early on a Saturday morning, I had to dig through a rack to find my size because they weren't correctly put in order. I used to work retail and this was a must when it came to our organization of the store. Just something to chew on.
All in all I will continue to come out and shop there. Again, the employees so far have been nothing but great and I'm happy that we finally have one in range. Just keep the above in mind if you plan on going at 1pm in the afternoon on a weekend. read more
