Their yellow clearance items are the best deal they have but when items have made it to the yellow tag, it's often "slim pickin's". This shopping center seems to be stepping up their game with the addition of other stores like Shoe Station, BBB, and World Market.

The other day I bought a dress for $5! Mind you, it was a final sale item. But I was still shocked. I usually don't go to this store unless I'm wearing decent clothes haha. It's a nice store so I feel kind of awkward being there in workout clothes. It's kind of like how you never go to the MAC cosmetics counter unless you're wearing makeup.. Either way, I love the Loft. She greeted us when we arrived in her section, asked if she could help, helped us checkout and was converstional and friendly. I told her she was the first person in the store to utter a single word to us despite us visiting sunglasses, perfume, clothing and bedding areas prior to reaching her area. We encountered many employees that looked down while we were in talking distance. Why are stores like this dissapearing, hmm, look no further than what we experienced here. Shameful, since we can buy this on the internet. Today we purchased a Cuisinart toaster, that did not work when we got home. We packed it back up amd came back to the store and assumed we would go to customer service to return the toaster, nope. Apparently, customer service does not do returns, maybe this department should be named something else. After waiting for the person in the back room packing something who is clearly not paying any attention or aware of us waiting at the counter in customer service. When she finally looked at the counter, she came to help us, another girl showed up and said you have to go back to where you bought this, I explained be bought it here at Dillards. No, you need to go back to the department. Good grief. So we went back to the department where Kayley was still smiling, she gladly helped us again. In Georgia, this was my go to store for many things throughout the year. I will buy from the internet rather than come back in this store again. Why bother to have a store with so many workers if you can only point to one shining star. The mall has many empty stores, wonder why? Look no further than Dillard's to get the answer. Malls are over. I never need something today, I can wait if this is the level of service I receive.

You'd think a store staffed primarily by women would understand when a customer is indecisive, especially a woman running on no sleep because of a teething toddler, but instead of leaving their post behind the counter - all 5 employees, by the way - they stood there until she entered the dressing room and then called the police. When she emerged from the fitting room, there he was, plain clothes, badge front and center, making it as uncomfortable for her to browse as possible. Even after she was ready, or shamed into, making her purchase (which I'm returning this morning) the cop still circled close by, like a vulture. DESPITE this, she bought her shirt and pullover and didn't tell me any of this until late last night. Back to me toddler for a moment, two days ago (we've been here 3 times in 3 days) our child was running around, not hurting anything or making a mess but apparently that's just too much for such a stoic, reserved store as Alabama Outdoors. The feeling of contempt was palpable so, parents, don't bring your children. That game of Peek-a-boo behind the rack of pullovers is uncalled for per the rules of this subpar store. Spend your money at more deserving places like Red Beard's or go across the Bay to Coastal Outfitters, where at least if you can't make up your mind, they'll offer to help instead of having a cop harass you until you leave. It's inexcusable. We've shopped there since they opened, stopping only after our daughter was born because we were focused on more important things. This Christmas marks the first time since she was born that we really went out as a family, excited to see her reaction to the decorations and people in general. Yesterday, everyone we saw at the Eastern Shore Center was polite and happy. Our daughter was waving and talking to anyone that would acknowledge her, something Alabama Outdoors seemed pained to do, so it's not us in the wrong in this scenario. It's their complete failure at being polite. Maybe we're just not their target audience...but who is? 20-something yuppies who's only true outdoor excursions involve drinking on patios? Asking because, again, we've never been treated so poorly at Red Beard's or Coastal. This is the only reason I'm returning the shoes I bought and the stuff she bought - a complete disregard for customer service. Remember this: you work there. We shop there. You exist because we allow you to exist but unless you learn how to properly treat customers you will be nothing but a showroom for Amazon.

It's in my neighborhood! The process was smooth, handled efficiently, and in a matter of literal seconds I was on my merry way-- to shop (when I should have left the store)!
