According to my friend who lives in the area, traditional Valencian cuisine is slowly dying, with old school shops being bought out by foreigners and cutting corners to be pure profit centers lacking soul. Torreta recently opened by what looks like a grizzled veteran who is putting out delicious traditional Valencia cuisine. My last meal in the area for a while I think and it was a satisfying one. The different croquetas and of course being in the land of rice...even the bread and local oil shows the kitchen cares. Being rifht on the beach is amazing when its 23C outside.
