Fabulous views across the city of Barcelona from this communications tower. It appears to be an amazing facility, which the visitors centre is very under-utilised. They only open at weekend for much of the year, and even then they appear to close for lunch/siesta. They open daily except Monday/Tuesday in peak months.
Not the easiest place to get to. I took a taxi from Placa Universitat which cost €20. The driver dropped me at the staff entrance which was a little confusing at first, it was just a short walk along the road to the visitors entrance. The entry fee was €5.60, quite reasonable I think. There is just one viewing level which you access via an elevator. It looks like the tower was future proofed with other floors which are not yet used. Possibly a restaurant one day? The only refreshments available are from a vending machine, though cold drinks were reasonably priced.
To get back to downtown Barcelona, I caught a bus at the entrance which took about 5 minutes to reach the funicular, which in turn links in with the subway network. Total journey time is about half an hour. read more
