I waited almost an hour for a to-go order of queso. The restaurant was not busy at all. I finally asked the bartender if she could check on it and she looked put out and said "they'll bring it up when it's ready". Then she changed her mind and said she'd check. She came back she said they are training people back there.. so it's a good thing she checked because I don't think it was coming . When I did get it.. they forgot the avocado. I've eaten a Torchy's in the MetroPlex and they were good. Abilene, the two times I've tried it , is not so good. The food came out Luke warm. Drinks are not well made with bland taste and presentation. Everything is over priced for the quality. I would rather do Rosa's, better prices and quality. read more

I visit a lot of Torchys across Texas and was really excited to see one being built in Abilene. Since they've opened here I keep hoping things will get better but now I realize they won't. Today the queso was served 10 minutes after we finished our entrees. I've had queso at Torchys many times and I'm positive it's not supposed to be the consistency of water. Every other chip was as stale as they come. Someone should write the company and get their franchise pulled. This location gives Torchys a bad name. And that's after visiting a dozen times hoping. I absolutely love Torchy's but this location is terrible. The tacos we're subpar and poorly packaged but what was even worse was the service. Torchy's is our favorite go to Friday lunch spot! Our family loves the patio area! We order the chips and queso (to die for), chicken fajita tacos, beef fajita tacos, Baja shrimp tacos, sangria, and beer every time! The service is awesome and a great time is had by all! read more

We stopped here passing through Abilene on a road trip. Have been to other Torchy's many times. We ordered online in advance to save time. Unfortunately our order scheduled for 12:20 pm wasn't ready till 12:50, which added 30 minutes to our road trip. Not at all reliable timing wise. We asked for the status multiple times and just kept being told it was coming. Also, we paid extra to get queso on one of the tacos but it had just the tiniest smear of it. Not worth it. read more

They were out of a particular type of taco no big deal was willing to switch with the price difference of $1.50 the manager never offered to credit back the credit card or add in something extra. This place is AMAZING!! The queso is SOOO good BUT the management is even better! I placed an order and was waiting with friends. 15 or so plus minutes had passed and one of servers noticed that I still had not received my food. He went and checked on it, come to find out they had lost my order. Anyway shout out to the manager and the gentleman that helped myself and my friends. I wish I could leave 5 stars because honestly the food was awesome, sampled 6 different tacos and wasn't disappointed with any of them. But there were employees sitting at the booth behind us (which was a closed table due to the 6 feet apart rule) eating rosa's and sitting on their phones. And I wish I could've assumed they were on break but they were periodically getting up and bussing tables; like, literally lazily bussing tables, walking through the dining room on their phones. I was seriously shocked. Personally, any manager at any job I've ever worked would flip shit. For a place that's just opened, I'd expect the employee's work ethic to be a little better and the managers to be a little more vigilant of these things. I've been wanting to try Torchy's for awhile. Establishment is very clean. Very busy, but thats nothing new when a new business comes to Abilene. Menu isn't very kid friendly. Queso is good and I would recommend ordering an appetizer because the wait is veeeeeeery long for your food. Tacos were average, but not worth $5. I would say try it at least once to mark it off your list. I would rather go to Abuelos or Miguel's to really get my moneys worth. read more

Fantastic food and even better chain. However, this location is the worst when it comes to the overall guest experience! Their food is top notch, I just wish the customer service matched. I've order to-go and in restaurant numerous times (at least 8 times). Almost half of the time I run across minor accuracy issues in my to-go order, experience a general lack of friendliness from the cashier or get notified after I've already paid that they are sold out of items I ordered. I'll keep coming back, but I hope they try to take a page from the ole' Chick-fil-a's hand book pretty soon rather emulating a Dick's Last Resort franchise (located in the Dallas area). read more

The tacos are good. Food was fresh. I'm not giving it more stars because the store was dirty. Most tables outside had food on them. The tables inside had food on them or weren't cleaned properly. The employees had food on their clothes while serving customers. The door handles weren't wiped off. Dirty smeared windows. There is no way I would use a restroom. It wasn't busy. The trash can by the door was over flowing. There was enough stuff to clean. The WHOLE restaurant needs to wiped down. read more

Placed order @ 3:35 Asked about it at 4:15 "They should be working on it now!" 4:26 "Do you have your receipt. They don't have an order for you." 4:27 "They reprinted the receipt and sent it to the kitchen now!" 4:32 "Here is your food." I work in Retail Management and so I understand the importance and impact of surveys. The girl at the counter did a good job. She took my order and then explained that they would send me a text when it was ready and that she would like me to wait in my car but they would bring me my food. After 40 minutes had passed I asked the girl at the outside tent if my order was ready she said that she didn't have an order for me and said that she would go inside and see what was going on. She returned a moment later to inform me that "They should be working on it now." So I returned to my parking spot. 11 more minutes go by (51 minutes) and she said that the kitchen didn't have my order and asked if she could see my receipt. She walked inside and reprinted my receipt then said that that had just started making my order. 51 minutes after I placed it. I was on my lunch hour and was late returning to work because of this. I submitted a survey to Torchy's and requested to be followed up with. Now a full 30 days later I have received no communication from the stores management. This is my boyfriend and I favorite taco place. The Baja shrimp taco is great and queso dip to die for. We love the frozen margarita and the staff has always been nice and professional. The food comes out fast and the price isn't bad for how good the tacos taste! It's worth it. read more

There was a very nice Asian kid who brought out out queso which was piping hot and the chips were salted just right. Yum!! Almost 5 minutes later the same waiter brought us our tasty tacos. I sat there for 25 minutes after being told it would take 10 minutes to make two fajitas. My food was sat in the warming rack for 15 minutes while the employees were oohing and aahing over a small dog that a person brought into the restaurant. I had to flag down the bartender to have them check to see if my order was ready, which it was. The fajitas were tiny. For almost $11.00, I expected something more. I thought maybe the flavor made up for the small size of the fajita, but I was wrong. The taste was meh at best. My son ate the other one and he said the same thing. Blech! I love hot, and the queso was so hot you couldn't taste it after the first bite or two. The trailer trash tacos were reminiscent of the $1 chicken wraps they used to have at Sonic, except the chicken was too spicy. The sausage on the Republican taco tasted cheap, and the Barbacoa on the Democrat taco was dry and too salty to eat. Tasted like shredded jerky. They were out of corn and the regular red salsa. All three of us thought it was too spicy to enjoy and we all like hot stuff! The beans were identical to Lay's canned bean dip!! A lot of people around the state rave about this place, so I don't know if we ordered wrong or what. The tomatillo salsa was the high point. read more
