I used to have a Hasty Market a block away from where I used to live in the Beaches. It went away at least a decade or so ago. I decided to relive my teens by dropping by this store and checking it out. I said hi to the man at the counter. He was the only person working on Saturday afternoon and seemed pleasant. My original thought was to find a breakfast sandwich to consume the following day, but I didn't see anything. The sandwich section was slim pickings. I did enjoy looking at the beverages. It carries Slush Puppies, which made me smile. Blueberry, cherry, and cream soda were the flavour options. I felt like a drink. I spotted a can of Diet Orange Crush in the fridge. Perfect! This store has an extensive ramen section. It was as if someone knew that I was dropping by. Naturally, it's cheaper to get ramen at a major grocery store. However, if you are a local who just can't get to one, heading over here is not a bad idea. I paid for my drink with cash. It came up to $1.25. That's not bad. There is parking. It is limited given how small this plaza is. I'm glad that I visited. I'd like to try the cream soda Slush Puppie the next time I'm here. (78)

They have a hot lunch section that serves a different variety of foods every day. They have a great homemade bowl of chili for $3.99. Their shepherds pie & lasagna are great. If you're on a road trip between Toronto and Buffalo, the Metro Supermarket in Stoney Creek is a…read moreperfect pit stop. The store is well stocked and fun to browse, especially for weirdos like me who love to check out local grocery stores. This market has plenty of free parking and offers easy access for folks just passing through. If you're looking for some local snacks, drinks, or even groceries for the road, you'll find plenty of options. They carry lots of local Canadian products, so it's a great spot to grab an edible souvenir or treat yourself to something unique from the area. I am partial to the local maple syrups and cookies, but there are tons of only-in-Canada goodies for sale. There's a small deli with grab and go options that make for a quick and healthy snack or meal, and you can get all of the standard snacks like chips, candy, and sodas that are chilled and ready to go. Metro Market is convenient, easy to shop in, and a solid stop for travelers looking to stock up or pick up a little taste of Canada.
