If you are looking for an incredibly caring, sensitive and warm pediatrician for your children,…read moremake an appointment to see Dr Troy. We have two sons, 7 and almost 2. We were lucky enough to find Dr Troy when we moved to the area 4 years ago. Unlike many physicians you come into contact with, Dr Troy makes extensive time for her patients, is very judicious with her diagnoses, and makes children feel incredibly comfortable. She is amazingly thorough, and really talks to you about the why's behind her opinions. I have always felt so much relief taking our boys in when they are sick. Her office is warm and kid-friendly. The waiting room is filled with beautiful artwork warmly shared from her patients; each exam room has a stack of children's books and magazines; she deftly distracts little ones with her "magic wands" and then there's her gentle office companion, Buddy - a couldn't-be-sweeter Golden Retriever who puts every child at ease! Probably the best indicator of a great physician (and one quality you just can't find anymore) is one who is proactive. Several years ago, after hearing about some cold symptoms that were keeping our older son up at night coughing, Dr Troy examined him and gave us some valuable information on asthma. She prescribed a rescue inhaler and educated us about the prevalence of asthma in children. His situation was never really severe until one night, when he woke up in a panic because he couldn't breathe. My husband and I grabbed the inhaler Dr Troy had proactively prescribed and just minutes later, our son was breathing steadily again. What could have been a night of sheer panic and a race to the ER, became a very controllable episode, thanks to Dr Troy's preemptive wisdom. We were so grateful for her insight and advice! When our youngest son was born almost two years ago, she visited him in the hospital and gently reminded us about all the things we needed to remember about babies (amazing how much you forget in 5 years!) She gave us every assurance that he was "perfect". What more could parents want to hear about their newborn? In well baby/child visits, she always makes us proud of our boys and how they are doing. She is balanced and never alarmist. She breeds confidence and not once has made us feel like we are being too careful or paranoid about our concerns about our sons. She has kept her practice very intimate intentionally. She could have joined an HMO long ago, which would have been far more lucrative for her, but she enjoys the ability to make a connection with her patients and families, and as a recent letter from her (which she sends often to her families) stated "...I love watching your children grow up and love knowing that sometimes I can make a real difference in a child's life." When was the last time you heard or felt that from a pediatrician you spoke to? Dr Troy also has a great support network that we have relied upon at key times. Her office staff is always gracious and cordial; her billing contacts were incredibly helpful to me when I once had issues with my insurance, and on a recent trip we took out of town, when our youngest son had a middle-of-the-night fever scare, her after-hours physician network came to the rescue. I'm constantly grateful that we have such an amazing physician whom our sons and my husband and I trust so much. Put your trust in Dr Troy - you (and your children) will be happy you did.

Anyone considering using One Medical in Marin County should research the wait times and scheduling…read moreavailability of the practitioners. They have closed their Greenbrae office so the reminaing locations will need to absorb the patients from that location. I think they may be having staffing issues as the San Rafael/Terra Linda office has reduced hours and is informing patients that lab wait times may be longer, which I read on the OM webpage for that location. OM used to be open later to accomodate working people, and some weekend hours as well when I joined. Now the SR/TL office is closing at either 4 or 5PM, with no weekend hours. This avaiability was a major selling point for me. I have been with the same NP for years at OM and she is the reason I will continue to go there even though I need to trek into the city to see her. If you have time and the fortitude to go into SF, these offices seem to be better staffed woth shorter wait times. So 5 stars for my practioner and 1 star for the decline in convenience and reduction in services, a big selling point and justification for paying the out-of-pocket annual fee. If you go in 3 times per year, you are paying a $33 premium per visit to use OM ($99 annual fee if you have Prime). This is not insignifncant. If my NP was not at OM, I would not be an OM member especially since Lab Corp has online appointments now which make their services easier and more reliable. My advice: If you have not selected a PCP yet, try your best to find someone outside of OM to save yourself this recurring annual fee since the value it delivers is hard to identify.

April 2026 - One Medical (the company) RIPPED ME OFF. Read on and I will explain how I was charged…read more$541.38 for a tetanus shot at their Northgate San Rafael office. BE WARNED: they will not budge on billing. It's like (it IS, actually) arguing with a monolith. "We're sorry there's nothing we can do." Please learn from my mistakes so that you don't get screwed. Situation: I needed a tetanus shot. I am a new member of One Medical. Before making my appointment, I called and spoke with one of the one medical care team and asked about the prices for a tetanus shot. I was told: "Self pay prices: boostrix, $46.25, daptacel $25, kinrix $93, pentacel $88 (pediaztric) td vax $283, adacel $46" These were the costs of the different tetanus shot products they might use. That seemed reasonable, so I booked an appointment in the Northgate office. Went in for my appt. I was with the NP for between 10 and 15 mins. She took my blood pressure and asked me maybe two or three background health questions. (mini-rant, how come in my personal profile I am forced to declare what my pronouns are and why do you really really need to know if I have butt-s*x regularly? Sign of the times I guess.) Then she gave me the tetanus shot. When I went to pay at the front desk, they said, "you don't have to pay anything." If you hear that, you should interpret that to mean, "we are going to bill your insurance company." Here's the big gotcha: if you fill in an insurance company in "Membership, Insurance and Billing," they will bill the insurance company for your visit (and this in irreversible). Now, if you have catastrophic insurance coverage with a high deductible, you are screwed. My deductible is over ten thousand dollars each year. So One Medical bills your insurance company a jacked up rate (quote from bill: Amount Billed: $675.00; Adjusted or pending insurance: $133.62; Insurance paid: $0.00; so the amount billed to me was $541.38) I called in and said, I always self-pay for all my dental or medical care, because I have a ten thousand dollar deductible. They said that "once we have billed your insurance company, there's nothing we can do to reverse it or change the invoice to a self-pay type." I seem to recall that the self-pay bit was maybe a hundred dollars lower. So my advice would be, before booking an appt, to call one medical and tell them you want exact pricing for whatever your visit will be concerning. Find out exactly how much they will charge for a first-time visit, plus a tetanus shot (for example). When I called to ask/cry/complain about my insane bill, they said that they charged "code 99203, 'Office visit new patient,' $675.00." She also told me that code 99203 could cost from $105.70 to $753.20 depending on what office you are visiting. The price for an office visit varies by region (like gas prices). In closing, I would say that One Medical might be all right if you never have to dispute a bill with them. If you do, you are screwed. "We're sorry, there's nothing we can do" might be a good motto to keep in mind for One Medical. That's how I see it, anyways. (Hmm, I'm starting to see how this butt-s*x question might apply to me after all.) Have a happy day. P.S. Some One Medical bot will respond to this message with some platitudes along the lines of "We a care about being transparent and fair pricing," yet notice that there are several critical yelp reviews complaining about price gouging and "there's nothing we can do" to change it. That bot is a little humiliation ritual. They are flipping you the bird.
