Went in this place to check out their work. Was blown away by various artists but one stood out in particular, his name was Nate. Not only did I make an appointment (1 month wait) but so did my wife. I did not mind the psychobilly soundtrack for the 1.5 hr tattoo for my wife or for my 5 hr piece. Def. going back in the next couple of months. read more

I went with Bryan for my third tattoo and I am so satisfied with my tattoo. Although I do recommend descriptively adding every detail you want for your tattoo when you're emailing your artist because it does delay your starting time, mainly so they can edit your piece. The shop itself has a friendly vibe, cool music, and you're helped rather quickly. The artist are pretty lenient with letting a guest sit in the room with you so that was cool, I needed the support. The work in general from Ryan was great he was really reassuring, making sure everything was going well with the tattoo and myself. I'll definitely be back for future tattoos. read more

I got my nostril pierced by Klaudia and she did a great job! I was a little nervous and had a few questions. She made me feel very comfortable and feel extremely comfortable with the whole process. read more

I got my nose pierced by Sara and she was amazing!! Very personable and skilled at her craft. Loved my experience and will definitely be back soon!! read more

They posted pictures of their Halloween flash on their Instagram story, and the one I was interested in was pictured at an angle in the upper corner of the picture. I messaged them politely asking if I could have a picture that shows the design more clearly and in response all I got was "No." Pretty poor/rude communication to a potential client... needless to say, I won't be going there for a tattoo. read more

Back in March I got a walk in. And it is amazing. The store was nice and clean. And Chris helped me find a font that would be nice and not smudge over the years. read more

AWESOME! Topnotch tattoo right in the middle of Elgin - what a find! Friendly, professional and seriously clean. I got my nose re-pierced here after I let my original piercing (done at another shop) heal up. The best experience I've ever had! I kind of thought it was normal for tattoo shops to be odd, and be filled to the brim with a**holes, but this isn't the case here. Topnotch Tattoo is an example of what a tattoo shop should be. I'm returning in a few weeks to have some sanskrit done on my side - I can't wait! If you've been looking around for a place, give them a try! Awesome job today guys, thanks! :) read more

There's a man there with very large hands that shouldn't be peircing or touching anyone's ears or peircing any parts on the face or body. He causes a lot of pain and still can't get the peircing job completed. read more

They make it seem like you are booking with a celebrity. Then when you get in , a month later, the guy I had, not anything amazing. I gave him a custom drawing tattoo, I told him add some touches to it, make it better. Nope. Didn't even bother. He made it exact. It was ok but come on, since I waited a month and they really over hype the place, I am expecting something spectacular. read more

Went there for my 1st tattoo and couldn't have made a better decision. Scott was awesome with the process of everything, and it turned out better than I expected. Professional, no bull shit, great work. Highly recommend. read more

My friend and I went here because another friend got hers done by Andrew (who no longer works there) and loved them. Bryan charged my friend 150 bucks for two small black tattoos which turned out nice. I asked about two quarter size tattoos for myself, and he said he would charge 150 for both or 120 for the small snowflake I wanted. I asked why it would be so expensive and he said "Because I do what I want". He was rude and belligerent. Based on the customer service I will never go back nor would I recommend it to anyone. I stopped at Funky Rooster tattoos around the corner and they were SO accommodating and helpful. Though they didn't have time that day, I will be booking an appointment to get my tattoos done with them. read more

Went here for a dermal anchor removal. No charge -- which I don't think is all that uncommon -- but still cool to offer that complimentary service (I still tipped, as you always should!). Anyways, it was a clean place and I was greeted kindly. A piercer named Sarah did the removal and she was awesome. I told her right off the bat I'm a big baby with a low pain tolerance- she kept me totally calm and talked to me the whole time. Incredibly friendly and likable. I also had a friend with me who was asking about some other piercings and Sarah was very knowledgable and happily answered all of her questions. Would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get or remove a piercing! :) read more

chris was amazing ! Very kind and exceeded my expectations. I was particularly nervous since I was getting my first tattoo but he talked through it and I even got a second one ! read more

My mom went in to see if she could find a simple black pair of earrings. She went in around 1 pm two days ago, was told she couldn't be helped as the person in charge comes in at 3. That's totally fine. She went back today, Johnny told her that the person in charge will be there soon. She waited close to 30 minutes, only for someone to walk in inquiring about jewelry and be helped right away. Not sure why a pair of earrings is such an inconvenience, Johnny! Super rude. read more

After posting a horrible review for Infamous Ink Studio in Chicago, it is only right to give props to this shop. I'll start by saying that you must be patient and wait for your appointment and spend a little more money because GREAT work that is permanent on your body is not cheap and you get what you pay for. With that said, Nate is the effin man!!!! He added to a piece I had already and made it look AWESOME!! If my schedule wasn't so complicated he would be doing more. Get in line people!! I have an appointment with Beto which has awesome work and will be doing and fixing a piece infamous screwed up. My wife got a piece done by Bryan which has great work also. All in all, take a pick people, everyone at this shop is awesome!! Very professional and know what they are doing. Take their recommendations, this shop is the BOMB! read more

Although I'm only familiar with two of the artists here: Kevin Starai (formerly of Deluxe in Chicago) and Andrew S. I would definitely recommend Topnotch. Everyone here is really pleasant and talented, and the atmosphere is really calm and welcoming. read more

I've had two piercings done by Chux and my first tattoo done by Nate. All are AWESOME. First off, I had a dermal piercing done, which is not the easiest piercing. It was so fast and clean and it never got infected. Very happy with it! Also, my tattoo done by Nate came out even better than I had imagined it. I would recommend (and do) to everyone! Also really appreciated that I was charged less than the quote because it was done quicker than expected :) read more

Sara was absolutely amazing, I got my nipples pierced by her and couldn't be happier with the experience. She was so nice and informative. I was extremely nervous but she definitely made me feel comfortable. I would definitely recommend her to everyone getting a piercing. As far as the shop goes, it was very clean and everyone was really nice. read more

We stopped in for two piercings, nose and an industrial. My daughter's nose had been pierced before and we weren't sure if going over the little bump was a good idea, Johnny made her feel very comfortable and was confident it was fine. It's only been a few hours and it already looks great. She has wanted an industrial for a couple of years, but after talking it through because of the anatomy of her ears it probably isn't a good idea. Johnny did an amazing job showing her some alternate options and custom things he could do for her..now she just has to decide. The shop was super clean too and the sterilization in the piercing room was Topnotch (pun intended). I definitely think we found our new piercing place. read more

I've gotten two tattoos done here by Beto. He'd done my sister's tattoos so I already knew that he was good. I was really scared at first but my experience was fun and calm. I also got a nose piercing done by Chux. Chux was very nice and informing. He taught me a lot of different things that I would have never known about piercings. He made me feel very comfortable and I was happy with the outcome. I would recommend this place to anyone and I wouldn't go anywhere else for a tattoo or piercing. read more

We came here inquiring about an indistrial piercing and found the gentleman to be very rude and quite condescending. as walk-in customers, we felt that it was extremely off-putting and will not be returning. In addition, they seemed unlcear on pricing, as if they were making it up on the spot. read more

Just was there on 4/20/16 to get a tattoo with my best friend and we had Amanda do both of ours. She was AWESOME. She made you feel so taken care of and comfortable. She was thorough when it came down to fonts and scripts and was very patient when we were completely undecided. Not only was she awesome, she was super sweet and made you feel comfortable. Super clean, super friendly and the work she did was so well done. Will always go to Topnotch for tattoos anytime I'm in the Chicago area! Thanks Amanda you rock! read more

I went in here earlier today to have my nipples pierced. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ship itself is very clean, I was impressed! I had my piercing done by Chux. He was super kind and welcoming and talked me through the whole process and answered all of the questions that I had. Most definitely will be coming back for future piercings and tattoos. read more

I have had two tattoos done here. One by Tony Uno and the other by Erik Thvedt. Both artists are incredibly talented.and professional. The shop is super clean and neat. This is probably my favorite shop I have ever been to. I am planning on only letting Top Notch artists (probably just Erik - who did my half sleeve) tattoo me from now on. I HIGHLY recommend this shop and while I cannot speak for the piercers (though I know people who have gotten pierced by them and been pleased). This is just a great shop read more

All I have to say is that this shop is way to over priced for even the smallest tattoo try to charge a 100 when everyone knows that's not there shop minimum. read more

I got my nose pierced here by Oscar. I loved that he was very chill yet very professional. He answered all my questions and made me feel at ease. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone especially Oscar for a piercing. read more

My friend got her septum pierced by Johnny. I have never seen someone in so much pain. Before I even begin he was very bad mannered. I have watched several septum piercings done and none of them were quite like this. He man handled her nose. Took out the needle and THEN put in the piercing. Completely and utterly wrong. Dropped the balls to the septum at least three times. Would NOT recommend Johnny at all. If I could give zero stars to the piercing part of this place I would. read more

My best friend and I randomly decided to get T-Rex tattoos and stopped into Topnotch. Any other day I would research shops and artists, but this was a crazy day and we went with it. Amanda did my tattoo and she is amazing! She fixed the picture I brought in to make it look more realistic and she did excellent work bringing it to life. She's sweet, fun to chat with, absolutely beautiful and she enjoys puns and silly words as I do. We were fast friends and I can't wait to see her the next time I'm Chicago! I have full trust in her tattooing, she does top quality work. read more

Went there this past week to get a Monroe piercing. Love Chuck! He was informative, easy going and definitely made me feel comfortable. Husbands going there next to get a tattoo! Everyone at this place, made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in! Thanks Topnotch! read more

My ink is deeply meaningful and spiritual so I take lots time and contemplation before getting a tattoo. I found Topnotch merely by happenstance; not being from the area and having no intention to get tatted that day. Although it was a small tat and I spent only about an hour in-and-out, the experience was beyond awesome. Brian was welcoming, thorough, and patient. His ease and effort in making my experience satisfactory left me feeling exceedingly grateful. Cheers! read more

Today a group of five of us decided it was impulse tattoo day! Highly recommend Kevin for piercings, he is literally topnotch. I live almost an hour away from Elgin but it's worth it. I had my daith and faux snug done by him which went smoothly. He is honest about whether or not if you have the anatomy for a certain piercing. I even brought my friends to get their industrials which they both love! read more
