The store is well known in Sheffield and further afield, and its reputation speaks for itself.It's won quite a few high profile awards, and has been in Sheffield since 2000. There is also an online store that I have reviewed separately, but it quite useful as new brands get added right away, allowing me to check it before I go into town to visit the store. A cut above the rest really, and I end up going in far too often and spending too much!

It starts with "oh it'd be a shame to walk past without having a look" soon followed by "I guess there'd be no harm in just trying on a few things" which of course leads to me dragging half of the shop to the fitting room, and ultimately concludes with my debit card being handed over at the till. I cannot resist! The selection of clothes here is just fabulous. Whenever I go to Cow I always take a bucket-full into the fitting room with me, but I'm normally only left with a few things I actually like, however in Sheffield I faced the dilemma of wanting to buy everything I'd picked up - oh dear! This of course, could be purely coincidental. But I like to think it's the result of some clever work going on behind the scenes. Furthermore, the actual amount of selection seems spot on. What I mean is, it's not overwhelmingly cluttered, but neither is it overly selective with not much choice. As for the layout, that seems to strike the balance also. It is neither rough, ready and warehouse-esque (like Birmingham Cow) nor overly generic/high-street (Manchester Cow) i.e. it's totally user friendly whilst retaining its individual quirk. Right on! Pricing here seems to be very reasonable also, most dresses coming in around the £15 mark. I managed to bag myself a minidress and a pair of dungarees for £30 - scwhing. Hmmm what else? Oh...attractive retail assistants? Always a plus.

When you walk in it does not feel like a vintage/2nd hand shop because of the layout and the clothes are like new. To the left of the entrance, sterling silver is showcased at ridiculously cheap prices. This is the only item that they sell new. Everything is catagorised really well too, all the bags together , dresses in one, skirts in another..I managed to pick up a real italian leather skirt for £18! Unfortunately the lining got caught in the zip and ripped ever so slightly so the shopkeeper reduced it to a further £16! I am not sure where/ how they souce their clothing, but even their website is porfessional looking; and even certain clothes are modelled. Actually, it's full of foreign tourists as well, this being York, all wanting a slice of classic, rugged British outdoor wear. Brands include Barbour - of course - Viyella, Magee and Loake. They can literally fit you out from top to toe, from shoes or boots and socks to classic Christy and Olney hats and caps. The nice thing is that the staff are very friendly and helpful, as well as knowledgeable, and the prices actually pretty good for this sort of lifetime-lasting quality. The shop is quite small, but a great place to browse. They also do a mail order service.

This is a large Flannels store, over two floors, this location is one of their regional flagships…read moreinside Meadowhall. I did struggle to find a staff member on the shop floor, which also did make it difficult to get around the store, combined with a lack of a store plan or signage. Eventually, when I did find a staff member, he seemed less than impressed with my search for the exit (I was trying to find the car park). The security guard also seemed a little rude, he seemed more interested in trying to intimidate customers than anything else. The store was fairly modern and had a good selection of brands, slightly more premium than other stores inside the Frasers Group, I do think for a brand selling many upmarket products, with prices to match, the in-store pick-up option should be much more straight-forward, it seems bonkers to have a delivery fee of £6.99, especially for picking up an item in-store, even one that is stocked there anyway. If you spend over £200, you do get a £20 voucher, but this can only be spent in-store on a future purchase... A fairly large and modern store, with some good products, however many parts of the store do not match the premium status of their products, which is a shame. 3*

I would say that Greenwoods Menswear is aimed at more distinguished men with ranges in day, formal and office wear. I think the thing that sets Greenwoods above the rest is their formal hire wear, which has now been re-branded as the 1860 Formal Hire. As a family we have Hired suits for two weddings where my husband was Best Man and required top hats and tails. Not only where the suits of excellent quality and a reasonable price but fit well too.

They stock a wide range of suits and great prices…read more You can get cheaper suits at many places, but the difference here is the suits may be cheap price wise but not quality wise. The suits my husband have had from here have all been great, they do a wide range of size and offer other clothing too. The staff are also friendly too and were really helpful. highly recommended.
