Despite being in the city for completely alterior purposes, with a bank account that's already strained as it is, I still find myself powerless to the charms of Cow. It starts with "oh it'd be a shame to walk past without having a look" soon followed by "I guess there'd be no harm in just trying on a few things" which of course leads to me dragging half of the shop to the fitting room, and ultimately concludes with my debit card being handed over at the till. I cannot resist! The selection of clothes here is just fabulous. Whenever I go to Cow I always take a bucket-full into the fitting room with me, but I'm normally only left with a few things I actually like, however in Sheffield I faced the dilemma of wanting to buy everything I'd picked up - oh dear! This of course, could be purely coincidental. But I like to think it's the result of some clever work going on behind the scenes. Furthermore, the actual amount of selection seems spot on. What I mean is, it's not overwhelmingly cluttered, but neither is it overly selective with not much choice. As for the layout, that seems to strike the balance also. It is neither rough, ready and warehouse-esque (like Birmingham Cow) nor overly generic/high-street (Manchester Cow) i.e. it's totally user friendly whilst retaining its individual quirk. Right on! Pricing here seems to be very reasonable also, most dresses coming in around the £15 mark. I managed to bag myself a minidress and a pair of dungarees for £30 - scwhing. Hmmm what else? This place is literally a steal. Vintage/ 2nd shop hunting one day, I stumbled across this delightful place in Sheffield. When you walk in it does not feel like a vintage/2nd hand shop because of the layout and the clothes are like new. To the left of the entrance, sterling silver is showcased at ridiculously cheap prices. This is the only item that they sell new. Everything is catagorised really well too, all the bags together , dresses in one, skirts in another..I managed to pick up a real italian leather skirt for £18! Unfortunately the lining got caught in the zip and ripped ever so slightly so the shopkeeper reduced it to a further £16! I am not sure where/ how they souce their clothing, but even their website is porfessional looking; and even certain clothes are modelled. Cow is a great place for more flashy vintage clothes and shoes, and is ideally placed on west street. It is easy to find due to the large and obvious yellow sign, and the warm atmosphere draws you in to gaze at the pretty items. Rails upon rails of great quality clothes (that may smell a little but that's vintage for you!) welcome you, very well organized for how many items there are to display. The place isn't cheap - some items are ridiculously priced for what they are but there are some great finds and unique pieces of jewellery. This a new vintage shop on West Street, with its bright yellow exterior it's hard to miss. It has funky indie window display with intrigues you to go in. The interior is bright and well laid out. The cashier desk is a wooden shack. There are boots hooked onto the wall and shoes on display with bags slacked nicely on to wooden shelves. The clothes are separated in to colours to make it a bit easier to rummage around. This is a shop to have to rummage as there is no other way. It's clean and tidy and easy to move round. Its best to try on items before purchasing and they do have decent changing facilities. The staff are friendly and approachable. read more

This is one big Cow. Compared to this our Manchester branch is wee calf tottering around on its barely formed legs. I dragged everyone in here, father included, and I'm pretty sure he had more fun than the mother and I, reminiscing about the good old days when he wore skinny jeans and had hair. The selection is vast and could take all day to browse so best go in knowing what you're looking for or without any intentions of doing anything else ALL day. The vamped up shirts with studded shoulders instantly took my fancy and, although I am always put off by the increased price tag, I never seem as drawn in by the high street versions. Studs also adorn cut up Levi's, ready to be worn for both the Summer and Winter months, and modern jewellery is found set alongside vintage alternatives towards the rear of the shop. Head a bit further in and this is where you find the cheaper treasures; with a 50s themed hen do coming up next year my mother (yes, that's right, my MUM is the one going to the fun sounding hen do, not her 21 year old daughter!!) started to get inspiration from every corner, especially with the range of patterns and colours that only vintage styling seems to offer. The range of accessories is nothing to be sniffed at either - shoes, bags, fur collars - it's all here! With it's bright yellow exterior and always memorable name I have a feeling Cow wont be put out to pasture too soon (or is that horses?) and will managed to spread its love of vintage even further across the country. read more

Brilliant vintage store with rock bottom prices and a huge range of mens and womenswear. They have an excellent selection of bags and belts, I got a leather vintage banana bag for £8. I also got a shirt for £4, and all served with a smile and abig yellow bag. My nan however, ated the name of the shop and hid the bag, so maybe not for nans. read more

i spent hours in COW when i was in sheffield. There are so many great finds and they are all really reasonably priced, unlike most vintage stores. The shop assistants were really helpful and gave me advice when i tried things on. If only there was a COW in london!!!!!! read more
