I'm probably naïve in giving this place 5 stars, as I have never been to any other golfing facility nor have I ever played golf before, but my unconscious mind is screaming "5 STARS" for some reason, and so 5 stars it shall receive. As I've said, I've never played golf before and often thought it was a sport for grandpas *pictured with grandpa hats on*. I signed up a 'taster' membership card, which allowed me a limited amount of days to try the place out. Once in, you and your party of friends are assigned to a station, from which you can strike away your balls into the golfing range. Your balls are tracked and your scores kept. And dont worry, if you don't have your own clubs, they have plenty there to lend (for free). Its great place to go by yourself or with larger groups of friends. After hitting a few balls, I became addicted! The 'taster' was all I needed. But the pièce de résistance was the food and service. Staff members are close by to take your orders and return with your food whilst you swing away. I definitely underestimated their food. It was actually... good. Never expected that from a golfing range. Now all I need to do is sign up for a permanent membership card...

Great concept, needs better management. With topgolf you can compete against other players like you would at bowling, but it's the golf version. Great concept of diversifying a driving range, being able to get a few points if you don't know how to play or to get an accurate representation of where your balls go if you do play golf. The main issues with this centre, there was not clear instructions on where you had to go to book a lane, staff taking the money seemed inexperienced and had not idea what was going on, had to explain everything in basic terms and do the maths for them. Management of staff and centre is the biggest issue. We did end up waiting over an hour and a half for our bay, however they had a very useful website that tells you where you are in the que, so you can assess whether it's worth your time to stay or not. This is very business savvy, as it means you don't have to go back and ask the staff time and time again. Cost: A game: £6 (per game) Membership: £2 (one months membership) or £20 (lifetime membership) Food: Perfectly average sports bar food, service was lacking but the food was okay.

Good fun and a great day out. Just make sure they don't take your food before you've finished eating!

I had promised them a tasty restaurant I'd read about online, and instead they were staring balefully at a dodgy-looking car park. Undefeated, I led the way to the building. It is a golf clubhouse on the outside, but inside there are a few surprises. Not least the incredible Indian spiced cod loin, but I will come to that. Through a couple of innocuous doors my redemption awaited: a small friendly restaurant with two large doors open to the golf course as the sun set. I expect most reviewers might plump for the words hidden gem at this point, but I settled for the looks of relief on the faces of my fellow diners. The place is run by Tony and Joanne, a very personable husband-and-wife pair who have renovated the 9 hole course over the last 2 years. The restaurant has opened over the past few months. Happily you don't need to play golf or be a member to eat here, so we dived into the menu, which had a distinctly northern Indian feel. It also offered some European dishes for less adventurous palates. The chefs will also cook indian dishes that aren't on the menu, so we went for a Tarka Dall on the side. We were ready for a nice dinner, but we weren't expecting the high-end restaurant fare that graced the plates placed in front of us. Appealingly presented without being too fussy, our mouths watered and our conversation dried up as we feasted contentedly on some of the best Indian food I had eaten in years. The cod loin was the star of the night, though my meat eating cohorts were also impressed with the lamb shank and chicken tikka stuffed roti bread. All of us agreed the food was unbelievably tasty, beautifully presented and thoughtfully served. Main course prices range from around £6-16. If I ate the cod every time, I would count this place as a treat as opposed to a regular haunt. The verdict? A pleasant surprise we think the place definitely merits a return visit, not just for the food, but for the incredible service and lovely atmosphere. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5? Dessert is yet to be sampled. So yes, that car park (which really wasn't that dodgy) will be revisited, not with trepidation, but instead with joyous expectation and, this time, a suitably empty stomach.

The dining room is an average size with glass patio doors which run along the whole length of the room, giving you the most fabulous green views of the golfing greens and trees . My partner and I sat by the window looking at the sun going down, while sipping Champagne, completely relaxed as if we were hundreds of miles away from Loughton, on holiday.. They played very relaxing background music at just the perfect volume. The service is excellent, the food is very good, try the snake bite as a starter, there are other dishes on the menu not just curry, the lamb was excellent. The food and wine prices are very reasonable, the food is always fresh and so very tasty. It gets busy so make sure you book early.

Golf clubs are notoriously up themselves, expensive, and busy. This is certainly not a course for…read morebeginners as it is enormous with 375 yard lay-outs on average. Add in some difficult shots over ditches, sand pits, and small ravines and you have a serious course. However, we had the *best* time getting our balls in 12-13 shots among the 1-2-shot pros... The staff here are amazingly helpful and friendly. We called an hour or so before we wanted a slot and the woman at the front desk instantly set us up with a tee-off time even though they were pretty busy and it was last minute. She said people normally let them know well in advance of renting golf clubs as well, but she was incredibly accommodating. Our whole 3.5 hour experience here cost around 20 quid each, including renting half set of golf clubs each. An amazing deal for a golf course with really experienced members. Literally, Tiger Woods has nothing on a couple people we saw. Incredible. Several groups asked very politely to skip ahead of us which was fine as they all did it in like a shot and it took a few minutes wait. I know we slowed some people down but Cheshunt is very good with beginners and the members seem patient, all things considered. I bet they just wanted to finish up and head to the bar...yes, there is a bar. The bar does not have a large selection but it does large portions of chips and cold beer which we treated ourselves to after. Your hands will be slightly bruised from the club, your shoulders will hurt from carrying the bag, and you will be in awe of how much better everyone is but it will be so worth it! I will be coming back!

The food on offer is excellent but can be a little hit and miss depending on what is ordered. Drinks at the bar are fair prices and the cutlery is always clean, although it is a help yourself area which means you risk other people having touched it before you.. A large array of condiments are available and pick your own from the sachets near the cutlery Overall good value for money and ok for a quick snack. Also has a great outdoor area which looks out onto the golf course, and they allow dogs as long as you go around the back of the building to the outdoor seating area and not through the club. At doors go to the left and it will take you all the way around to the back of the clubhouse

At…read morea time of the year when social lives revolve around festive drinks and parties, it's good to get off your bum and do something active. Well, ok, you're hitting a ball at a screen so not walking too far, but at least you're standing up and moving your arms... However, it's not easy. I've not played golf much and this activity requires some level of technique above 'aim and hit'. For a start, you have real clubs so you have to know what the benefit of each number is. Secondly, if you're not very good like me, then your ball will either go into a lake, a sandpit or nothing at all and you will get more shots. This means the embarrassment lasts longer as you take more and more shots to achieve the same distance that your better playing friend hit in one. I also liked the central location as it's inside High Street Kensington Tube station. There's a full bar inside so you can drink while you play, hoping it might relax you into being a better player. Low marks come from the fact that it's more expensive than bowling (£50 per simulator per hour at weekends). For that price, I'd rather bowl as you can get away with throwing hard and a bit of luck, whereas Urban Golf is more technical.

The interface of the simulator is confusing at first but when you realise how it works is easy. Before that I don't even know "the rules" or how to hit the ball properly (well, I still don't know), it was my very first time playing golf (realistic golf, I mean) and it was way too hard, so I think it should be a really good simulator.
