Just a note that last time I stopped by around the last week of August there was another barber working with Alex, a younger guy who had been waiting for a customer who had supposed scheduled an appointment with him (probably a friend of his) and while he waited he didn't want to cut the hair of a customer that walked by. In this case, I knew I was giving Well Kept the full five before I was out of the chair. From the second you walk in, you get a perfect (and very difficult to find) balance of barbershop and salon. The place is energized yet relaxed and welcoming. Each station is clean and organized to the extent that their tools of the trade are displayed - not stored - to let you know you are about to sit in the chair of a craftsmen. The banter between the guys is true barbershop style but always respectful (it seemed with purposeful consideration to the client's ear and Well Kept being a place of business, opposed to the typical barbershop where you might be the one paying, but there is no mind given to what is said in your presence). And it is that banter that lets you know this isn't a shop where guys are just renting out chairs. They're a team with Ruben at the head, all focused on customer satisfaction and the success of the business, with great pride in the work they do. So no surprise that every customer - male and female - I saw during my 1.5-hrs there walked out beaming. I usually give my recommendation to try out a place, especially when it comes to helping keep local small businesses running.
