JJ and associate came out quickly and made me feel really comfortable. There was no weird upselling (I wanted something really plain) and no fear mongering. I could tell immediately that we were going to go with Rock N Block so I cancelled my other appointment with a different company and put my deposit down right away. Within hours, JJ had the plans to me and I got the HOA paperwork started. Once that was done, I was scheduled immediately to have my yard worked on. The day of, the workers came, did a final measurement and got to work. It took 3 days but it came out exactly like I was promised and had envisioned myself. The workers were extremely friendly and self contained. They were responsible and trustworthy. They were also very concerned with my happiness. They asked me if things were looking good quite a few times. They literally made my yard perfect. I'm still looking for imperfections and cannot find them. If there were any complaints, the communication could be more but to be honest, they give information and don't feel the need to consistently remind you, which is also good. We did have a small hiccup where the workers didn't know they had to install a few other things but JJ made it right immediately and I can only be happy about that. I'd rather have the problem be solved immediately then get a phone call being told it would be done, although I can see how some people would want both. Pricing was fair in my opinion. I was told it should have been less expensive but I don't think so. The job is immaculate and the items are gorgeous with great quality. The craftsmanship means a lot to me and I would pay for it again. I wish I took some before pictures but I completely forgot to. Imagine a literal nothing of a yard. The main concern was a leak coming from the pressure regulator/filter/valve. They not only replaced the entire assy., the crew rerouted the assy. to allow unobstructed room with all new parts. We also had our planter excavated about 3 feet down and after the roots and hard dirt was cleared, the entire irrigation drip lines and timer were all replaced, as well as a "Canopy irrigation" system of bubblers for our tree. We bought the soil ourselves for the excavated planter, (Go to Home Depot, it's cheaper than STAR) and the only charge for a "Backfill" was $25 per plant that went back in. Worth it, as they arranged everything and routed the bubblers perfectly. All said and done, this Company outdid themselves for 3 hours and cleaned everything up and even pulled most of the weeds that were all over our front rocks. Do yourselves a favor and have these guys do the project. They are REALLY good at it!!

I got in touch with his office staff who is just as nice btw, and she sent me a quote, I paid the deposit, and they did the work they quoted with no issues. A few months later I was setting up a Christmas inflatable and I must have stepped on a sprinkler head and busted it straight off. I called their office, and they sent Horacio out next day to repair it for me. I did have to pay for that, which is no problem because after all it was my fault! Nevertheless, we felt APL deserved our review anyway. Here is why: First, the company's communications with us were excellent. Our initial meeting was scheduled at our convenience. They were also very clear in identifying and explaining certain limitations regarding our project- a strong indication our general project plan was not just read, but studied in advance of our meeting. Our project was a complete front and back yard redo (including building planters and installing hardscape). I met with Steve, a very personable and knowledgeable individual. I was very impressed with his candor and honesty. He explained to me what his company's licensing authorized them to do and some things about our project that were beyond the scope of their licensing. Imagine, an honest contractor! I respected Steve's candor and integrity for disclosing that during our meeting. It signaled what we could expect in the quality of the work (had we hired APL). I really liked that theyre locensed, bonded, and insured and their guys are American citizens (as opposed to borderline slave labor recruited from a Home Depot parking lot - I've been in construction for 25+ years so I know the chasm in quality between the two). They showed up on time and got done what they said they'd get done. I didnt have to deal with the "no-call, no-show" only to show up days later as if nothing happened (as the Home Depot parking lot demographic are notorious for doing).
