Top Quality has the usual curry café setup and is well worth a visit as offering generous portions, very reasonable prices and top quality!
Located off the main thoroughfare, Top Quality is quieter than the likes of nearby Kabana and Mughal Taste, although business still seems to be ticking over nicely. Although it looks to have an almost exclusively Muslim customer base, I found the staff very hospitable.
From just one visit, I would reckon this place is above average for vegetarian. I had fried rice, okra & tomato, dhal and a chapati. The chapati was so good that I ended up having another two, beautifully hot off the plate. All that took me right to the limit of my capacity at a single sitting, for the princely sum of £5.40.
Let me expand a little more on the 'top quality': fried rice was just nicely oily and without any food colouring (good!); okra & tomato was just right; chapatis, although not from a tandoor are very nicely done with a dynamic young flatbread specialist keeping them coming. They also seem to be testing the water with a daily sweet dish, kheer and also carrot halva although I'm not sure that the customer demand is there due to other curry cafés tending not to offer dessert.
All in all, a great value and peaceful curry café - definitely one of my favourites. read more
