DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO TOP NOTCH! Zero transparency or accountability. I brought my car there after it had broken down on the highway on my way back to St. Louis where I live. I had to drop the vehicle off because it was after hours. There was a crack head hanging out in the lot when I got there, and there were no slips of paper for me to fill out to leave my keys in the drop box. That should have been the first sign not to trust my car with them. But it was late and I didn't feel lile there were any other options. So, I left a hand written note asking them to call me in the morning. No one called. When I called to follow up, they said they would look at it before lunch. Again, no one called me before lunch. Around 4:30pm, I finally called back and the owner told me he would look at it then. He called back 20 minutes later and said "nothing is wrong with it, but i can do a tune up." The engine had started to lockup while I was on the highway, and even though I had just had my oil changed two weeks ago, when I pulled over the engine was bone dry. I put 4 quarts of oil in the thing before I could get it started again and drive it to the mechanic. It had started smoking on the drive over to Top Notch. So, obviously it was hard to believe that nothing was wrong with the car. But I needed to get it back to St. Louis, so I agreed to the tune up and arranged with the shop to have my parents pick up the car that weekend when the shop was not open. I paid over $300 over the phone, and I asked them to leave an itemized receipt in the car. When my parents got there to pick up the car on Saturday aternoon, it was dead as a door nail. My elderly parents had to jump the car themselves in the 90+ degree heat in Top Notch's sketchy parking lot. It took them almost an hour to get back on the road. And, of course, there was no receipt in the car... When I called to complain on Monday morning that the car wouldn't start and that I had no idea what I had paid so much money for (because I had no itemized receipt), the owner got aggressive on the phone, refused to apologize or accept responsibility that the car wasn't running after they services it. He told me it was my fault the car wouldn't start because the car had sat in his lot for 4 days. I told him the battery was less than a year old and I had never had problems with it until his guys touched it. He said all he would do is email an itemized receipt. Of course, I never got it...
