Recently had some work done to my Prius that insurance paid for. No problem this trip. Insurance company handled the billing. Then I got a Toyota Corp notice in the mail about a class settlement I was entitled to. Toyota Corp instructed me to contact dealership to arrange free check to determine if the settlement funds should be used to make a replacement of a frequently failing part. No one at Marion Toyota would speak with me about this, even when I showed them the official card from Toyota Corp. Extremely unhelpful. It was as if without payment already arranged for service, they didn't care to help me. Now I have trouble with the hybrid battery. I've called Marion Toyota to see what they can do for me. Of course, I'd pay out of pocket. Again, they just didn't care to help. Pretty much told me that unless the car breaks down on me, there's nothing they can do. And they're supposed to be the technical experts on these cars. I'd rather drive VERY far away to another Toyota dealership for help--even just advice about where else to go--than deal with Marion Toyota's aloof staff. Unless you've already showered them in bills, they can't be bothered with you. My two sons are about to leave for college and I want to buy them each a gently used Toyota OR a new but economical Toyota. Guess where our family WON'T be buying our sons' cars. If you can't be bothered with already established customers, don't expect them to bring you more business. read more

Had to wait a ridiculous amount of time!!!!!! My friend decided to purchase a car from Marion Toyota and completed the paperwork several days prior to arriving at the dealership. He had also been approved for the loan days before we arrived at the dealership. It was extremely frustrating that we had wait 1 hour and 40 minutes before he was ever called back to talk to the finance person and to give them the check for the down payment. They changed my wife's Prius PCV valve and I thought that since my wife's tire well splash guard came apart and broke while driving, that they didn't put the clips back in to hold it. Well, to change the PCV, it's not required to take off the well. So they didn't cause it. But none the less they installed a new one at no cost. What! Really! read more

Let me say, if you find yourself in the situation of a blown out tire half-way through an eight-hour road trip, you could only count yourself so lucky to be close to Marion Toyota to help you out. They have a beautiful kid's area and welcomed our dog, toddler, and bags of stuff to camp out for the only 90 minutes it took for them to replace the tire. They were apologetic it wasn't faster due to being over the lunch hour. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for their outstanding service and kindness. My toddler fully appreciated the freshly baked cookies. While replacing a tire on a brand-new vehicle is never a delightful experience, they made it as enjoyable as possible. I really appreciated the small touches of care for the environment throughout the dealership down to recycling k-cups and recycling/compost disposal. My wife and I bought a 2020 rav4 in July of 20 actually we bought 2 vehicles that day. I bought a used Dodge truck and paid cash for it and financed the Rav. With my wife working from home it doesn't get driven much only 15,450. Mile now. A month ago my son noticed a plastic trim missing from the top left rear roof line . I called the service department and set up a time to take it in . They looked it over and one employee stated that WE see this all the time . I said it's under warranty rite and the response was not if you don't have the old part. I told to order it and let me know . A month later No call or text I stopped in and they had took my name off the part luckily it was still there. I paid the $21.07 which was not the problem .I had contacted 2 other dealers one in Ky and the other in Indiana and both told me they would have warranted it .I told the parts man that this experience just cost this dealership a customer . This was our first Toyota and will be our LAST . I had a bad experience with a Ford in 1990 and have never owned one sense so now I can add Toyota to the list . So today we will lay my aunt Debbie down this afternoon. But sadly I will miss in her celebration with my family. Thanks to George, his employee at Marion Toyota in Marion Illinois. I made my reservation on Monday for a Toyota Corolla. To be picked up at 8am. So I called on Tuesday to see if they had a CH-R available. So my husband, grandson and son's come ride. But the CH-R wasn't available which was ok with me. At this point, Linda(Laura) tells me that there is a problem with my reservation. So Linda(Laura) tells me that the Corolla that I reserved may not be available on Friday. And "IF" it does come in it would come in between 10:30-11am. And that there is a strong possibility that the car may not even come in at all. So at this time I'm not receiving what she just said. I told Linda(Laura) that their website said that the car was available. I waas even given my Confirmaion number WTR00088CE. So if the car wasn't available why would their website advertise that it was. She told me that it was available when I reserved it. But the car was extended out to another customer. I was beyond numb at this point. Because there was no sympathy or remorse given. I told her, "Why was I was given a confirmation number. If George extended the car to the previous renter. If the car wasn't available in the first place." She couldn't provide me with an answer. But asked me if I wanted to keep my reservation. Just in case there was a cancellation. I was beyond pissed which she never knew my true emotions. I replied yes, but what happens if the car isn't returned. Her response was, "We have a 4Runner that we have available. That will cost you more than the Corolla. If you would like to rent that on Friday. I was even more beyond pissed at this point. Rent is due Friday of $829, cell phone bill due also. So $79.99 was affordable not the $159+ for three days that they quoted me. George and Laura let me know that if they didn't have a car available. They just didn't have a car available to compensate me. Because the Corolla that I was suppose to pick up this morning. Geoge had approve it to be rented out for extra amount of days. And his reasonings for extending the customers days. Was because he/she had their car in the shop and it may not be ready before or by Friday at 8am. So George told me that he could "NOT" leave a customer without a car. But he left a grieving customer without transportation. Transportation that I needed to attend my auntie's funeral in Cahokia, Ill. So George and Laura(Linda) was ok with me. Not being in attendance to support my mother and my aunts and uncles. George and Laura(Linda) was ok with me not being able to support my cousins who was grieving their mother. Again, that was my aunt, one of my mothers's baby sisters. I can never get back today that I missed on behalf of George and his employee. To know better is to do better. And frankly, per our conversation George blamed me for this unexcusable travesty. I will never forgive him or his employee for what they put me and my family through this morning. And I wish I never had to do business with him or her again. That another manager would step in and provide service for me and my husband. But sadly, ppl like George and his employee will still have a job at Marion Toyota. Because had I treated someone with such disrespect. I would have been fired on the IMMEDIATELY. But I guess that's the difference between them and us. ATTENTION!!!! MULTIPLE DANGEROUS MISTAKES MADE BY MARION TOYOTA SERVICE!!! Please read my two encounters with Marion Toyota prior to doing any business with their service department. My company first used Marion Toyota Service Center in spring of 2016. I brought our 2007 Toyota Tacoma in for the 90K service and front brake replacement. After my first interaction with their service adviser I should have left (she didn't know if I wanted the front or rear differential serviced on my TWO WHEEL DRIVE pickup). After the repairs were completed I took the truck and prepared to make a lengthy trip down south to Baton Rouge LA. During the trip while driving in traffic I experienced TOTAL BREAK FAILURE and was only able to stop with the use of the parking break. After pulling to the side of the road I noticed that the master cylinder was nearly completely empty and break fluid was coming from the driver's front break caliper (a part that had been replaced by Marion Toyota) After filling the master cylinder and testing the breaks I reluctantly made the decision to immediately return home. Upon returning the truck to them they indicated that the technician had crossthredded the brake line bolt causing a fluid leak. I could have been killed do to gross negligence by the service department. Recently I reluctantly returned to Marion Toyota Service Center for the 120K service on the same 07 Toyota Tacoma as well as a power loss issue I seemed to be feeling. The service adviser indicated to me that the frame had been recalled and needed replacement.....great......cool....but its not why I brought it in. Frankly the service adviser seemed to have little interest in the issues I was having with the truck but was VERY interested in the frame replacement recall. Perhaps it's because Toyota will be paying over $10,000 directly to the dealership for the replacement. Because it is only a work truck and not my daily driver I said it was fine if they needed to keep the truck for 6-8 weeks for the replacement and they did offer me a rental which I declined. I also decided to have the truck detailed while it was there. Upon picking up the truck we noticed that the oil change (part of the 120K service) had not been done. The service advisor did offer me a free oil change however I did not have time right then. The only notes on the work order in regards to my actual problem (lack of power) were "tech drove vehicle and did not experience any issues" well isn't that easy. Again, why bother with any deep diagnostic that is low profit and time consuming when you can make $10K on a frame job you know Toyota has to pay for. Perhaps that why there is always a stack of Tacoma frames sitting on the lot. News flash they LOVE LOVE LOVE to "sell" this job. At this point I really didn't care just wanted to get out of there but not until they found my missing WeatherTECH drivers floor mat that the detail tech stated "it didn't come in with"........sigh. Well of course it DID come in with a drivers floor mat and it was eventually found. At this point lesson learned don't use Marion Toyota Service Center and shame on me for giving them a second chance. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE. After driving the vehicle for only a short while (50 Miles or less) I notice two different strange sounds coming from under the truck.......one was a rubbing that was getting louder.........and one was what I would describe as a wheel bearing. When approaching the intersection of 13 and 57 in Marion something in the front end came loose.......went clunk.......and I drove over it. Again, on the freeway going 70mph. I limped the truck back to Marion Toyota with the flashers on and discovered that the tech did not reattach the front fender wells or the front bumper. The truck is currently at Marion Toyota Service Center and they are "looking at it". I will update this review as needed ounce I hear from them. ATTENTION! Before you do business with Marion Toyota, please read about my experience with their sales department and then come to your own conclusions about their integrity as a business. On August 14, 2015, I purchased a used 2010 Mercedes GLK SUV with 66,000 miles from Marion Toyota for $23,147. The vehicle was described to be in a perfect running condition by both the salesperson and on Marion Toyota's Web site. Marion provided a 3-month, 3,000 mile warranty that covered the powertrain. At no time during the sale did they disclose to me that, prior to the sale, the vehicle had major engine trouble as a result of improper repairs performed by Marion or by a shop summoned by Marion. Last month, after having driven the vehicle just 3,500 miles, the engine began making a grinding noise, so I took it to Hi-Tech Automotive, of St. Peters, Missouri, to diagnose the problem. Hi-Tech disassembled the oil pan and immediately noticed metal shavings in the oil. They advised me there was major internal damage to the engine, and that I would likely have to replace the engine at a cost of $9,000, which I can't afford. On Jan. 16, I reported the problem to my saleswoman at Marion. She stated that before they sold the car to me, $5,000 worth of engine work was done at Plaza Mercedes in Creve Coeur, Missouri, to which she referred me. The advisor at Plaza informed me that Marion Toyota or a shop used by Marion had previously attempted repairs to the vehicle, but they were improper, and Plaza was summoned to correct them. He stated that the flywheel was cracked, and other components were out of adjustment and/or improperly re-installed. Because of the extent of the damage, he stated that Plaza did what they could to correct Marion's faulty work so that Marion could sell the car, but could not guarantee anything. I made several attempts to speak with Marion's management about the issue, but they didn't return my calls. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and they responded to the BBB by saying that because I didn't buy their extended warranty at the time of the sale, there was nothing they could do to help, even though I've only driven the car 3,500 miles! However, given the improper repairs and resulting damage to the engine when the vehicle arrived at Plaza, any aftermarket extended warranty Marion Toyota would have sold me would NOT have covered replacement of the engine, as it had a major, pre-existing condition. I have been without transportation now for over a month, and don't have the $9,000 to replace the engine. RESPONSE TO MARION TOYOTA'S OWNER: I didn't buy the car from Plaza - I bought the car from you, Marion Toyota. And as such, I expected your business to stand behind the product you sold me. I entrusted you with my hard-earned $23,000 for a vehicle that you had represented as immaculate and flawless both by your saleswoman and on your Web site advertisement. No consumer should expect to be replacing a $9,000 engine on a vehicle described in this condition after only 3,500 miles of use, and no consumer should be expected work out problems over a repair that he/she had absolutely no control over. Business integrity. With regards to my BBB complaint, because your business is not a member, all that was required of you was to answer the complaint. The complaint closed in their files as "answered" and in no way is there an implication that the BBB sided in your favor as you describe. I recently took advantage of their rental service and couldn't be more pleased. The car I wasn't entirely impressed with. But that wasn't their fault, I guess corollas just aren't my thing. Next time I'm trying the Camry! The vehicle was impeccably clean and had a full tank waiting and ready for me. I called, appx 3 weeks before the date I needed the car to check rates, and was assisted by a woman who seemed like I was bothering her by asking her to do her job. I made a reservation with the other large rental company in town and decided the day of my trip I would just give marion Toyota another shot. I was assisted by a wonderfully helpful man named George. He answered all of my questions and was awesome. That completely changed my opinion and I decided to go through with the rental. Upon my arrival I was greeted by George and a new associate he was training. The new girl was delightful and I didn't mind the couple extra minutes it took to get me processed. I had no issues with the rental on my trip and everything was fine. I had to return my rental to the other woman I originally spoke to and once again she was very unpleasant. I will definitely be renting from marion Toyota often and I would highly encourage others to do so as well. To marion Toyota management- give George a raise and get rid of the extremely cantankerous associate in rentals. She's making you lose sales and stars! read more
