But, it was challenging to evaluate that before committing to move forward with one firm. I'm sharing this review of Beth because she was exactly what I was looking for. In my admissions call, the admissions officer told me one of my application reviewers said they were hard-pressed to find anything wrong with my application. Beth made a significant impact on my application in two ways: (1) In all areas of the application, especially the essays, she maximized the portion of content that Kellogg admissions officers care about. Before working with Beth, I had iterated my essays several times and thought they were in a decent spot. After she reviewed, it turned out only a small fraction was content Kellogg admissions officers actually care about. We worked together to maximize the portion of the content admissions officers care about and pared down the rest. (2) While I had a high-level idea of what a good application looked like, I didn't have a crystal clear picture, and as a consequence, I found I would iterate on application components much more than necessary because I wanted to be sure they were as good as possible. Beth let me know when each one was in a good state so I could focus my time effectively, and that allowed me to put adequate effort into every portion of the application. There's nothing magic in those two items, which is why I recommend her so highly: I'm confident that her impact on my application is repeatable with any application. I could tell in working with her that she's evaluated thousands of Kellogg applications, and that makes her uniquely suited to advise in those two areas.

The SBC team works together to create a holistic experience. Bill took the time to understand my goals before pairing me with a consultant. Amy spent countless hours with me understanding what made me tick and helping me translate that into an application. Beth flight tested my application and made sure that there weren't any glaring holes, and Anthony helped me prep for my Wharton Team Based Discussion. By far the most valuable part of this process was having Amy by my side. No question was too trivial for her, and she had limitless patience with me as I obsessed over every detail of my application. Amy's most valuable contribution, however, was her ability to help me focus on the RIGHT details. It is easy to lose sight of what you are building as you write the applications from the ground up, and it can be particularly challenging not to write applications based on what you THINK the AdComms WANT to hear. Amy encouraged me to embrace my authentic voice, and ensured that I was telling a story that highlighted who I am as a human. Thanks to Amy and the SBC team I was admitted to FIVE MBA programs: GSB, Wharton, Booth, Columbia, and Stern (with a full ride).

I had choices between Michael or few others companies that also has a pretty good review but the reason I picked Michael was he handles whole process ~ from preparing SAT to submitting the applications ~ by himself and only takes 12 students a year, so I knew it will be very personalized and he would be able to pay close attention to my son. To start, communication was super easy, as he always responds very promptly and as he starts to work with my son, he always gives a clear update on what is going on. SAT went very well. My son was at the top 1%, scoring 1530. Next came the real deal; preparing ~ I mean really put out the plans for the following months. This is very important step which you should start as early as possible so there won't be any missteps. Michael was able to come up with a few ideas and recognize my son's true potential which brought him to a huge success. Final result: early acceptance to Columbia University of New York. I couldn't be any happier about choosing Michael. The whole process was a breeze. I knew my son has a qualification for the top colleges, but without Michael the outcome probably won't be the same.

There is a great deal of authenticity in his teaching approach; he is one of the few tutors who practices what he preaches. I admire the honesty he has with himself, only taking on a limited number of students at any given time. I've had the pleasure of working with Mike on two occasions: during college applications and later in my professional career. He is whole heartedly dedicated to each person's academic journey and is easily one of the best kept secrets in the tutoring industry.
