The tech quickly diagnosed that the control board was he problem and that he could pick one up and be back the following day to install. I've found their workmen to be competent polite and happy to talk about what's going on so that you can understand the why of what they are doing. So why only 3 stars? convenience. They are in a business that needs clients to feel comfortable with you, OK so far so good and more importantly is convenient for you to use. On this second point Dave's falls down badly. They are only available in normal business hours and Saturdays. They consider 5:30 at night 'too late' to set up an appointment-thought they say they're open until 6- more on that later. This would be great if it's 1966 when housewives are home all day but this is the 21st century when most people are working. At a time when the competition proudly advertises "no extra charge for evenings" Dave's doesn't even offer it, meaning you have to lose a day from work, burn a vacation day OR call someone else. Can any company survive with such a plan? I would also question the hours posted that they are open until 6 pm because I called them right after getting home from work last week at 5:15 pm and got their answering service-"I'm sorry the office just closed . If I can take your information I can have someone call you back tomorrow." Again, great if it's a case of a house wife giving up her Wednesday morning bridge club, but not really working for the 21st century.

They told me it was because I had a spill mat of the bottom rack and that all would be fine if I took the spill mat out. Read the original review. So...They refused a refund and insisted that they had a warranty, so if the oven was not working properly, they would come out and fix it. They made a third appt to come to fix my oven 12 between 8 and 12.(three mornings I took off work for Dave's). At 9:45 AM I got a call saying the tech would be here in 20 minutes. 5 minutes later I got another call saying they would be charging me another $139 service call because there was nothing wrong with my oven. I went through the whole mess again but they insisted nothing was wrong with my oven and that if they came out, I would have to pay another $139. Last night I googled the problem with my oven. It talked about reasons the oven would do what mine is doing and it all involved adjustments that could/should be made to the back of the oven. The two technicians from Dave's who came the first time never moved my oven. They assumed that the problem was my spill-mat and walked out. When I called them back saying I was still having the problem when the spill-mat was not being used they have balked and blamed me and told me there was nothing wrong and.....My only recourse is to sue them for my $139 back so I can get honest folks to fix my oven. Also, I need to warn the world not to bother with Dave's: BBB, Yelp, and every meida site I can find will hear my story about Dave's Appliance and Repair.

They were very patient with my hectic schedule, including when bus delays held me up coming from where I work, and left me with vital knowledge (I knew there were issues with the vents, but not that it was a total blockage and that the hose had burst in two places - this is a building management issue and a fire hazard).
