Tony was recommended by my friend. We had a power outage and there is no access to the garage. I was going to ask Tony to put a handle and keys outside the garage door so I can manually open it when there is no power. He came and told me that I have a wrong garage door opener. I have a heavy garage door but the guy who installed it using the wrong opener (only used on the light doors). To avoid the future problem and safety, he suggested to install the newest garage door opener with battery back up and a pad. I am very glad that he came and install the right one for me. There are a lot of good reviews for this company so I am a bit confused why my experience was inferior, but perhaps it was a one-off. In any case what happened was the following. I saw the company's great reviews, called them on a Saturday to ask for an appointment. The person seemed very friendly, and set me up with a 9am-12 noon appointment the next day (Sunday). Now Sunday rolls along, and I don't hear anything. After 11 am I call them up to check in on the appointment, and they say "Oh sorry, we were just about to call you. Can we move the window to 12-3pm instead". So I agree, thinking that they are just a bit delayed. Then after 2 pm someone else calls back from the company, and now the message is that they won't come out at all that day. The rep asked me if I wanted to move the appointment to Monday and assured me I would be "the first in line"; but I responded that no, I don't know whether I can actually trust their appointments, and now it's the third time in only a day they change it on me. Then the rep just says "have a nice day" and hangs up. No "I'm sorry we messed up" or "sorry we had you waiting for 6 hours on a Sunday", just hung up. Not a good experience, and will not call them back. read more

As near perfect as you will find. NOT KIDDING. Tony is a kind, honest, hard-working, SMART repairman and will not rip you off. We lost the remote to our garage (long story) and we had to get into the garage right away (long story). I called at least 5 other places. ALL of them wanted to come out and "give you an estimate". ALL of them were not available for days and days. We needed to get in the garage that night. I finally found TONY'S GARAGE DOORS, and - FIRST POSITIVE CLUE- he PICKED UP THE PHONE PERSONALLY (ALL of the others had answering machines or did not answer at all). SECOND POSITIVE CLUE: He agreed to come and work on our garage at 7pm!!! that night because I didn't get off work until then (everyone else was working only 9-5, period- didn't matter the urgency of our situation). THIRD POSITIVE CLUE: He TOLD ME WHAT IT WOULD PROBABLY COST BEFORE HE CAME OVER. HE GAVE ME A PRICE ON THE PHONE. No one else would do that. One guy even told me, "Well...if it's locked from the outside, sometimes we have to knock the WHOLE GARAGE DOOR DOWN and re-build it if we can't get in." (He thought he was talking to a moron). Tony had to replace the outside "vault lock" that is on the outside top of the garage door. It only took him about 15 minutes!! He then had to wipe clean the memory of the first remote and re-program two additional remotes with two additional code settings (long story). FOURTH POSITIVE CLUE - He charged me EXACTLY WHAT HE HAD QUOTED ON THE PHONE -- NOT A PENNY MORE!! It's difficult to find someone like this. He's a local South Bay guy. He drives a nice, clean, professional repair truck with lots of good tools. He will give you an honest and professional job. He knows what he is doing. I can't recommend him highly enough. I liked him a lot. I'd never seen an entire garage door installed so I knew I was taking a small risk with this one man operation. How was he going to bring the door? How was he going to take down the old one and install a new one by himself? I was concerned for nothing. I purchased my original garage door & opener (Guardian model) only 6 years ago from Mesa Garage door so naturally when operational problems began I called Mesa first. I was told by Mesa the opener, springs and rollers would need to be replaced at cost of $1100! I called Tony for a second opinion. During his first visit he inspected everything, told me the springs were fine and they simply needed an adjustment which he performed on the spot at no charge. He also said rollers were fine. He did recommend a new opener, as the Guardian model is apparently only carried by Mesa and is not a very good performer. One week later, Tony promptly showed up, installed a wonderful LiftMaster door opener for a total cost of $475!
