Our old home had many architectural and builder-related challenges and Washa dealt with all very successfully. Our most recent project was a garage remodel and it was approached with the same attention to detail and professionalism as any of our other projects. They were very timely when I reached out to make the first contact. Very shortly afterward they arranged a meeting with the subcontractors (floor, electrical, design team, insulation etc.) to make sure everyone was on the same page. I felt like were really benefited from the group think. The garage remodel included a food prep work area and Washa construction came up with some unique and practical builds to meet our needs including a heater, hoist, wall mounted foldable food grade stainless steel table, lighting so bright that you could do surgery in there, and smooth nonporous impervious walls around the work area. We are thrilled with the outcome and have had many, many compliments on the garage. I cannot say enough good things about working with this company. I'm a detailed oriented 'picky' client and here are the things that I like. They are respectful and take their time with clients. What is common to them is not common to the client and they understand this. Timely communications are a priority (phone, email, text). I send an email with points, and I get a meaningful response. It was very clear who was managing the project and who to call if I had questions or "some things I noticed..." The estimates have always been fair and competitive, billing is transparent, and the work timeline was clear over the whole project. There is no upselling, e.g. getting a new garage door when the one we had was working just great. The workmanship and attention to detail are consistently superb. Pat was the lead carpenter on the current project, and he insured all the work was done correctly and even had many helpful suggestions to make the site more functional. I was very impressed with the clean-up... work sites were cleaned up at the end of the day even if they were coming back the next day. It seemed like their motto was "leave it cleaner than how we found it". Over the years I have seen the same people working with the company and that says a lot about the company atmosphere and how people feel about working with them. Happy workers do better work and treat clients well. One important thing to me is being able to trust the workers when I cannot be at home. They ensure things are locked up. There is no concern about pets, kids, etc. They even took great care to make sure they did not block the mail person's access to our mailbox. I have no reservations about recommending Washa construction for a small or large project. They are attention to detail professionals that you can trust. We asked him to trim up a small bathroom as we just got new floors and wanted to replace the trim. The guy took forever, got dirty handprints all over the place and did quite an average job with the trim. Holes weren't plugged up and areas near doors and tight corners were done with shortcuts. To the company's credit - we did complain about our experience and they did give us a discount on the bill. I'm sure they have other areas that they excel in as well. . . but if you need trim work done, I'd probably look somewhere else.

LENGTHY REVIEW STARTS HERE: It took over a year and a half and meeting with 15 roofing companies to finally find the right company for my job: The Exteriors Company. My house has a modern/Frank Lloyd Wright kinda vibe - lots of different roof sections and pitches. A majority of the first 15 contractors that bid on my roof repair wanted to sell me a new roof. The problem with my roof was a design flaw and a new roof would have eventually led to more water in my house. This was confirmed by an architect. If you look at the before and after photo, you can see how ridiculous the design was. We had water coming into our house anytime it rained and when the snow melted. It was awful. We were lucky enough to have Ryan (the owner of The Exteriors Company) come look at our roof. The first thing he said after climbing on to the roof was, "You need to redo this whole area," confirming what we already knew. That was the first clue that we found a good roofing contractor. After talking in person and over email with Ryan and getting the contract for the project, we knew we found the right company. Ryan was so communicative. He reached out regularly through the repair process. We had four different teams (framing, roofing, siding and gutters) work on our repair. We were notified in advance when to expect each team. Then each team project manager reached out via text a day or two before and the day of their work. Each team was on time and did beautiful work. They were also tidy and I felt like they respected our home and property. Shout out to Taylor Paar and Scott Mack (roofing project manager and siding manager). Mostly we either had to get quotes via Zoom, I'm not sure how you can assess a big project via a Zoom meeting, or it took weeks for someone to even contact us. DreamMaker was on a different level from everyone else we met with. We met with Michal, Kelly, and Sara at their store, and they had everything prepared for us. They had an entire presentation with timelines, cost estimates, and samples. It made the whole design process fun. When we settled on the final design we were given a complete schedule with access to daily progress reports, with photos. They handled all of the contractor scheduling and kept us in the loop with any problems along the way. During the remodel we were living at my parents so the daily progress reviews with photo's was key. They stayed on schedule, and we were back in our house when they said we would be. The work was spectacular, and I can't recommend them enough. Just take a look at our before and after pictures. We spent two months shopping around to find someone for our remodel, and we should have just gone to Dream Maker from the start and saved a bunch of time. We are having them come back to do our bathroom next.

He was also very messy and left me with an HVAC issue that I had to resolve on my own. The cabinet doors were uneven and even though the owner came to measure TWICE, the measurements were still wrong. In the end it was clear to the owner and me that the ONLY solution would be to demo what had been done and start over. About 20% of the project cost was markup and the owner billed me twice for lighting since the electrician could not install the first set of lights ordered. This is my THIRD kitchen remodel and I would rate this company below third place! Sorry for the poor review but, sadly, it's all true and I can prove it!

Outdoor Deck I've…read moreknown Abe Degnan as a personal friend and client for many years so when I had the opportunity to rebuild and expand our deck, Degnan Design-Build-Remodel was my first call! I could handle the update, sanding and sealing of the existing deck on my own, but wanted an expert to change out the railing from wood to black finished metal and replace a 4' stair with a 20' wrap around staircase. The work was completed yesterday and exceeded my expectation in every way! Even though it's "3 season," we can use it year-round. The wide modern fireplace they recommended heats the entire space in even very cold conditions, and the insulated floor helps maintain a warm surface once heated. It's always a wonderful experience to relax with a cup of coffee next to the warm fireplace while enjoying the expansive view. As you can tell from the pictures in the portfolio, Degnan's craftsmanship and attention to detail were top-notch. They took what we were looking for way beyond the next level, with some fantastic ideas. We initially looked to convert the existing deck space, carrying forward a typical rectangular room layout. They suggested that pulling the area inward into more of an L shape would make it more dramatic and cozier. This layout enabled some very striking design features, like the tandem windows and the exposed beam over the dining area. They also did a fantastic job creating a vaulted roof ceiling that matched the home's exterior aesthetics and made way for light to pour in on those large beautiful windows. A lot of thought went into not just style but also the functionality of the space. For example, the layout allows quick access from the kitchen to the grill, and I didn't even realize all the benefits until using the space. Notably, they had recommended a landing instead of a typical stairway, and aside from just looking better, it's a lot easier to carry trays of food with your hands full when you have that additional space. Another example is they recommended a four-pane vinyl window system that can be put into all kinds of open configurations, and it's super easy to clean. One of the features of the project we enjoy the most was a custom expansive glass folding door. It essentially gives us a glass wall that we can completely slide out of the way, creating a fully open space when we have guests. This makes the room feel like a natural continuation of the house, as opposed to an isolated space. It eliminates that awkward crowding you usually get with a more typical doorway. The fact that it slides means you do not cover the light switches with a door; they remain accessible in the room. The Degnan team was fantastic to work with, and even the owner (Abe) was highly engaged and responsive to any question or concern. *even after project completion*. Further, Degnan stands behind their work and is committed to your complete satisfaction. There was a manufacturing issue with our flooring, and Degnan diligently worked to correct it as soon as they were aware of the problem. Six months after the job was completed, Abe still personally reached out to make sure nothing new had popped up, and we were still happy. They even came out to check for shifts from season changes.
