My friend and I decided to treat ourselves on the last night in Madrid. Surf and turf!…read more The waitress/chef that had to work the front was super grumpy with us. But the maitre'd was totally nice. Give us a break, we were trying with our broken Spanish! lol. The restaurant was beautiful. We treated ourselves to sea urchin - Which was filled with a lovely cream that had leeks? It was really tasty. I really loved the scallops but the CLAMS! They were cooked perfectly al dente. Weirdly though, I loved the steak the best. Perfectly cooked, with the fat cap crispy and the meat done medium rare. The fries were also amazing! The drinks were so-so. Food was so amazing though - definitely a treat yoself meal though!!!

Tucked into a quiet, residential corner of Madrid, O'Grelo is a seafood lover's dream. The room is…read morebright and spotless, the counter gleams, and the air smells like nothing at all, which is exactly what you want when the catch is truly fresh. It was packed to the gills (pun intended) with immaculate product coming in throughout the day, laid out in a dizzying variety that looked as beautiful as it tasted. You won't find much in terms of elaborate dishes here. O'Grelo is all about the fresh catch itself. We loved it so much we went two nights in a row. Over those visits we bulldozed our way through oysters, sea urchin, carabinero prawns, langoustines, razor clams, percebes, and a handful of other crustacean curiosities I couldn't even name before this meal, "slipper lobsters" among them. Many of the species on offer were new to me, yet every plate arrived pristine and delicious, proof that ingredient quality and careful handling do most of the talking here. In a city spoiled for extraordinary food, O'Grello still stands out. It's un-touristed, fairly priced for the caliber, and run with care. If the sea is your happy place, this is a must - one of those experiences you'll wish you could bring home with you.

It's a huge, bustling restaurant with a simple, old-school feel, packed with locals and families enjoying great food. The moment you walk in, you know you've found one of those places people keep coming back to. We focused on the seafood and it did not disappoint. The grilled prawns were incredibly fresh, sweet, and cooked just right. The Galician scallops were rich, buttery, and full of flavor, while the clams were fresh, light, and perfect for sharing. Everything was simply prepared, allowing the quality of the seafood to speak for itself. We almost skipped dessert because we were so full, but I'm so glad we didn't. The homemade cheesecake was creamy, smooth, and easily one of the better cheesecakes I've had on this trip. The whisky dessert was also excellent and a perfect ending to the meal. What I loved most about Ribeira do Miño is how warm and welcoming it feels. It's not trying to impress anyone with fancy decor. It's all about generous portions, fresh ingredients, and sharing good food around the table. It felt like a true family-style restaurant where everyone, from kids to adults, can find something they'll enjoy. If you want an authentic dining experience and want to eat where the locals go instead of the tourist crowds, I highly recommend this place. It's one of those restaurants I'll definitely return to the next time I'm in Madrid.

The main course was sliced fish absolutely loaded with the tiniest splinter bones imaginable, so be careful. It was incredibly bland and flavorless, served with cold potatoes and peas. Tourist trap? It certainly felt like one. Don't mean to be rude but have to be honest. Great service and decent prices gets then 2 stars! So far, our experience with Madrid food has been a lot of stale bread and mayonnaise on just about everything. Hopefully today changes my mind.
