There was no…read morewait at 3pm (they close at 4pm for lunch), but there were still lots of people inside this small space. Their focus is seafood, and the menu is on a board, all in Spanish, which I loved. They do also have some picture menu cards with English on the back to help you navigate the choices. First, they start you with the house tortilla (omelette). They have lots of very reasonably priced wines, many of which are by the glass (a separate board menu). For food, we needed something lighter before a big dinner, so we went with: - Zamburinas: scallops served in the shell with a lemon butter sauce - Navajas à la plancha: local razor clams - Gambas al ajillo: super tender in a garlic butter sauce - Alcachofa à la plancha: prepared artichoke with a great tomato sauce Everything was cooked just right, highlighting the natural, fresh seafood flavors. They also coursed things out nicely, and staff were really friendly. I would want to come back for their seafood stews (2 portion minimums) the next time when we have more stomach space!

I didn't take pictures of the other dishes - I'm an idiot I was so hungry I devoured the paella and the Ropa Vieja, (phenomenal) plus the and hubby got the pork medallions with the moscatel sauce. WOWzah! All of it was amazing PLUS fresh housemade bread. I highly recommend trying the vermouth with an orange slice. Soooo good! 10/10 wish I took pictures of the other dishes!

One of the owners and chefs came out to greet us and even gave us complimentary wine. He was very upbeat, passionate and made us feel welcome right away. The bread was a little hard, but still tasted good. We ordered two types of paella, one seafood and the other primarily prawns, and both were delicious. The oxtail was also very tasty and cooked to perfection. The entire experience felt authentic and never came across as a tourist trap which made it even more enjoyable.

My wife and I sat in the back. It wasn't full, thankfully. It's a nice old restaurant that reeks with charm and history. The servers were real friendly. It had outdoor seating, but we stayed in the back to relax. We had 3 dishes., Gambas Al ajillo, Tortilla Español, a small one and Orejas (pig ears) à la plancha. They were all so good, perfectly seasoned and cooked well. The tortilla was creamy. The Gambas were garlicky...used my bread to sponge in the olive oil infused with garlic. The Orejas was tender and crispy at the same time. Food is sublime and service, first rate!

It's a good 30+ minute drive from Madrid proper, but fortunately we were already heading to the surrounding suburbs. This meant that I was probably the only foreigner at the place, but the waitstaff were very accommodating. We started off with thin-cut tomato wheels, lightly salted and soaked in olive oil. Goodness, this was refreshing. We also ordered several flavours of croquetas, which were crispy and scrumptious. The jamón-stuffed ones were particularly indulgent. Afterwards, we dove into what was the largest seafood platter I had ever seen - mussels, prawns, scallops, thick-cut calamari rings... it was a literal cornucopia of the sea. The seafood was all fresh and well-executed. I think food of this quality and quantity would run you a fortune in the States, but our bill at El Tablao was quite reasonable (~€20) when split amongst our group. At midnight the whole restaurant joined together to sing Salve Rociera (staff were awesome and gave me a lyric sheet, as I had not a clue of what to recite). The staff also surprised us with some creamy, coffee-based digestifs - the perfect way to round out a warm Spanish summer. In short: charming, unpretentious place for Andalusian if you can find your way out of the city. Huge portions, so bring an appetite.
