Upon entering, you'll be greeted by one of the owners and given a complimentary glass of welcome wine. The food is amazing. I had the vegetarian 2-course meal, with gazpacho and paella. The paella is huge, but I ate every bite because the vegetables and rice were so flavorful. The service is fantastic. It's a real family affair here, where every guest feels comfortable and at home. The cozy Spanish decor and friendly atmosphere makes this a culinary destination in Toledo.

Best Vegetarian Paella I've had in Spain! However you should probably try to get a reservation before arriving because this restaurant is very popular! That being said it was a rainy day in Toledo and when we came to the door we had no reservations, but somehow they were able to fit us in, after I called! The owner is extremely friendly and greats every guest personally with a sample of their own homemade red wine. Overall amazing lunch spot that we really enjoyed!

Great family restaurant in the middle of Toledo. The owner and Chef Antonio was very friendly and welcoming. He offered a small drink of his restaurant made red wine as a courtesy. He approached our table in his master chef suit to provide recommendations from his menu. We ordered the ham and rabo de toro croquetas, and seafood and chicken (Valenciana) paellas, all very delicious. The sangria was very refreshing and great fruity flavor. P.S. There was a nice souvenir / sword shop across the street from the restaurant.

Wow! We are so happy to have chosen Lo Nuestro to complete our tour of Toledo. I had surtido de tapas (most delicious selection) and my friend had Paella de Marisco Pelado. Both SO DELICIOUS! But the best part was our server Carmen who was so kind, helpful and lovely. If you visit Toledo, dine here and tell Carmen Catherine sent you! I'm from California, never been to Toledo or this restaurant, so no bias, just good atmosphere, food and service worth posting about.

Manchego Cheese + Orange Sauce on bread

Stumbled upon this little restaurant while wandering Toledo on vacation (holiday for everyone else). It was a pleasant surprise through and through. The chef greeted us as soon as we walked in and make us feel so welcome while offering a free wine tasting. The Manchego cheese + orange sauce bread dish was lovely and the venison was also quite good. It paired nicely with the pitcher of Sangria we had (which was quite generous too). He came back out later to thank us and offered some free dessert biscuits/cookies to finish our mini meal. Definitely make a stop here if you find yourself lost in the streets of Toledo.

This place is a hidden gem in Toledo. The decor is a bit offsetting, but the service and food made up for it. Upon entering, the chef introduces himself, pours you a tasting of wine and brings you to your table. There are two rooms, a front room which is small and a bigger sized back room. There was a man playing typical Spanish music on the guitar - was a nice touch! We ordered a pitcher of Sangria, manchego cheese, gazpacho and (the already peeled) seafood paella. The sangria had fresh fruits, the cheese was perfectly aged and delicious, the gazpacho was topped with croutons and cucumber and the paella was excellent. The seafood was not fresh, but the rice was perfect. You do however get tricked into paying a €3 per person bread charge here. But the quality of the food and the excellent service by the staff was worth it!

Awesome food and service. Typical dishes from Toledo and Castilla in general. I recommend getting Migas and Carcamusas, super tasty. The daily menu (two courses, drink and dessert) for 18€ is definitely worth it. Lots of food too. Probably not the best place for vegetarians... well, probably the entire La Mancha isn't. The decoration looks great! And sometimes they have live guitar music.

    Fabada Asturiana

This is a small restaurant down a narrow pedestrian street located in old town Toledo. We were greeted by a pleasant lady who I presume was the wife of the proprietor. Then out to greet us was a gregarious man who treated us like we were food critics - lovingly going over each dish on the lunch menu and offering suggestions as if he cooked it all himself. I actually think that he was the chef if indeed not the owner. We found ourselves sitting in a lovely small old tiled courtyard that perfectly oozed charm. So our meal began by being given the obligatory small bowl of savory olives and a rather unimpressive small puffy piece of bread (€3). I had the very tasty dish of Fabada Asturiana (€10), which is a rich Spanish bean stew with a small piece of chorizo, blood sausage, and bacon. My spouse had Codornices Escabechadas (€14 Pickled Quail) which has Apple vinegar, onion, leek, and herbs. My spouse did not realize it was pickled and did not really like it very much. The gentleman took our order and did not realize that we wanted a menu del dia as we had told the lady who greeted us at first. We did not get the menu del dia as it was €25 per three courses- so we were a little let down that we did not get " the deal" and also for paying €41.50 and not getting a starter, beverage, and dessert included. He also gave us two large Alhambra beers that cost €5.50 each and we would not have ordered such a large beer had we been given a choice. A nice blue bottle of water without gas was also had for €3.50. Honestly our Spanish skills are rather rudimentary, but I felt as if I was slightly hustled into paying more than I wanted to and not receiving the best value for our euros. I recommend this place as my dish was very tasty (small portions) ,but I would be on guard against being upsold. Charming space and you are made to feel welcome are the upsides as well of "Our Place".

Excellent Spanish food close to the Jewish quarter of Toledo -- they didn't charge us for drinks and gave us two free little desserts!

tl;dr the regional tapas are paired with a side of snobbishness at this historic Toledo bar…read more Toledo is known for a handful of regional foods (hello, marzipan!), but one of the most comforting on a drizzly day is carcamusas. This traditional stew pairs pork with a tomato-and-pea broth, simmered down into a sort of ragu. Carcamusas is offered widely across Toledo, but its origin is attributed to Bar Restaurante Ludeña, whose owner, back in the 1950s, named it after his clientele of "carcas" (elderly men) and "musas" (younger women). The restaurant is barely noticeable on the ground floor of an aging multilevel residence. The "door" is simply a patterned curtain, and a glassless window beside it peers directly into the bar. Inside, the room feels storied but timeless. The wood slatted walls are decorated with Spanish artwork and historical designations bestowed upon Ludeña. The black-and-white stone floors, stainless steel bar, and retro jukebox each make the others feel anachronistic. I could count the number of tables in the bar on one hand, but additional, sit-down seating is available in an indoor back dining room and outside. The clientele includes a fair mix of locals and tourists. Spanish-language pop fills the air. My mother and I visited Ludeña during a day trip to Toledo. We were granted only 1 hour for lunch, but Ludena was a comfortable walk from Plaza de Zocodover. Be sure to explicitly place your name down if you're hoping for a table -- we simply stood near the dining area waiting, but another group "jumped" us because we hadn't joined the official queue. No matter; we slid into the first bartop table within 10 minutes (a stroke of good fortune that appears to be a relatively rare occurrence based on prior reviews). We ordered from the a la carte menu (the menu del dia is only available for dine-in). The "half-portion" of signature Carcamusas was loaded with slightly fatty, melt-in-your-mouth pork in a shallow pool of curry-thick broth. The tomato-y stew felt like a warm embrace and paired well with a spongy slice of bread. Meanwhile, the moderately large Ensalada Mixta (served without tuna, per my mother's request) paired crisp greens with a decent balsamic vinaigrette, but otherwise was mostly standard. Lastly, the house vermouth was served in a whiskey glass with two oversized ice cubes; the spices were somewhat muted, but the glass was still a hit. The general wait staff was dismissive, but the bartender made us feel welcome -- I'm convinced that he sneaked a double portion of carcamusas onto our appetizer-sized plate. Our bill felt pricey at 20 euros, yet it proved to be the light lunch we needed to energize us for a Toledo walking tour. While Ludena is by no means a "must-try" tapas bar, it will, at a minimum, be a serviceable bet for a bite of regional cuisine in the historic heart of Toledo.

Given the shortness of…read moretime there it was difficult to decide where we would dine for lunch as the options are plentiful. After swift research we decided on Bar Ludeña and had a fantastic experience. We walked in about an hour before closing and waited for a high-top to become available in the bustling bar room, subsequently placing all food and drink orders with the bartender. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant seemed to have a rich history. The food was excellent. We had heard about carcamusas, which is a stew native to the region consisting of lean pork and peas in a tomato sauce - this dish is a must! We also ordered a partridge salad (would recommend) and a couple of wines (would highly recommend). Ultimately, Ludeña was one of our favorite dining experiences during our whole week in Spain.

The restaurant is a bit hidden, up two floors on a narrow street. The wait staff was very nice and they had a menu kind of in English. We selected meals off of the fixed price menu, one from the "typical Toledo" list and mine from a slightly more expensive one (both had a starter, entree, dessert and one drink). My wife had the gazpacho to start and then swordfish with potatoes. Mine was a sunny side up fried egg in a tomato-y like sauce and baked cod and potatoes in the same sauce. I really liked the sauce - super flavorful. The cod was cooked to perfection and the sauce went perfectly with it.. My wife was only so-so on the gazpacho (creamy but not too strong of a flavor) and liked her swordfish. All in all, a nice find and I would recommend.
