Having researched various salons on yelp I was frustrated that none would live up to the services of my previous stylist. One day I was out getting my nails done in Tropiano plaza and decided to check out the new salon next door, "Primp." I was drawn in my the sharp design. The decor is a perfect balance of modern and forties vintage. So cute! I was greeted by the owner Nicole, and though she was busy she offered to sit down with me for a consultation. After explaining my disposition she went through a detailed description of how she would do my cut and style, highlights and lowlights, and what conditioning treatments the salon offered. I scheduled an appointment for the following week and was amazed at the results! All of us blondes know how tricky it can be to get a healthy natural looking set of highlights. Nicole did a mixture of champagne and gold highlights with tea and subtle bronze lowlights. Having coarse hair she offered an affordable protein pack that left my locks silky. I even entrusted her to shape and wax my brows! This salon is top notch with lower prices than other high-end salons, I would suggest to anyone looking for a new salon to go on the website or stop into Primp for a visit!

If you're like me and not into reading long reviews, in short I was very pleasantly surprised by…read morethe expertise and care from Nikki! Please make your next appointment with her. I was apprehensive about trying a new place; and let's be honest it's not a high-end salon, but I kept expectations in perspective... its a $25 cut... "what's the worst that could happen...I only need a trim." FYI, I have tried a few high-end, popular Mt Lebo / South Hills Salons. When I walked in the door the first stylist looked at me and asked if I had an appointment to which I responded yes and then she looked back down to her client and never said another word.... ok then... I didn't know what to do with that... do I wait? is she the one who's going to cut my hair? is somebody else going to cut my hair? So, I sat down and waited about 10 minutes when another woman came from the back room to greet me; asked me if I had an appointment (again) but was very kind and assured me that somebody was finishing up with another client and I would be next It was late afternoon on a Friday so I was a little impatient. Had I not been addressed by the second person I probably would've just left Thank goodness I did not let my mood get the best of me; so glad I had an opportunity to meet Nikki From the moment I sat in her chair she immediately started looking at all the angles of my hair and made a comment about what she saw and wanted to know if I thought the same thing ... for the entire appointment she asked a lot of questions and explained why my answers were important to her construction of a long-term plan. When somebody is passionate about their craft, it shows and she was the epitome of professional but more than that she was so completely dedicated to my comfort and my satisfaction. I had a preconceived idea about cost cutters. and if you do too, make an appointment with Nikki.... You will not be disappointed.

Practically all experiences have a beginning, a middle, and an end, with my second experience at…read morethe MCN Salon on August 6, 2026 being no exception! The beginning was exceptionally positive as the receptionist, with palpable sincerity, welcomed me with a smile and invited me to sit in the waiting area (her non-verbal expression was as positive as her verbal communication)! When my hair stylist, Caroline, came to the waiting area, she greeted me with an authentic smile and walked me to her "station". It is significant that Caroline was patient, and not at all troubled, or adversely impacted, by my difficulties ambulating (my difficulties ambulating are a function of serious injuries that I STRUGGLE with as a survivor of a violent assault). Caroline fielded my specific requests for this "haircut" with attending skills that made me feel like I was on "center stage" and asked pertinent clarifying questions! Caroline did this, seemingly, effortlessly. Caroline's "work", and the product of her work, was, once again, above and beyond any hairstylist with whom I have been a client (that includes one of the best in Frankfurt, Germany)! The ending of this experience was consistent (in terms of positivity) with the other aspects of this experience as Caroline walked me to the receptionist. The receptionist was, once again, positive and sincere (both verbally and non-verbally) as I paid and prepared to exit the salon. With an abundance of gratitude, Bill Sorrels
