Finding a good stylist can be hard to come by at times, especially when you've just relocated and have to start all over again. To be honest, my hair grows like a weed... if I somehow get an unfortunate hair cut, it'll grow out in a snap. But there are other girls who have strong emotional ties with their hair... it's crazy. Luckily I'm not one of those girls (thank goodness!). If I'm bored one day and happen to have long hair, I'll randomly go and have it all chopped off into a bob. I tend to get bored often... but I've learned to leave the hair stuff with the professionals after a failed attempt of giving myself a fringe. Oy vey, that was a sight to behold... no bueno.
Toni & Guy is quite popular in the US, and with the recognizable brand I felt more comfortable entrusting their stylists with my hair. The studio is very minimalist and sleek. The staff are quite trendy as well. I booked an appointment with Stacey, who charges about £50 for a shampoo/cut/style. She was quite nice, and skilled. She gave me a simple bob after I decided to chop off my long hair and sorpresa my boyfriend. It was a standard Toni & Guy experience... coffee/tea/water, soothing hair wash, cut and style. Plus, if you have a fringe, they offer complimentary fringe trims (score!).
While Toni & Guy is a respected salon throughout the world, they lack that je ne sais quoi that I like to have with my stylist and hair cut/styling experience. For now, until I've found THE stylist in Glasgow for me, I'll just save my hair cutting for when I head back to NYC where I can get that guaranteed flawless, edgy look. read more
