With odds and ends tucked in every corner, and rooms that look like you shouldn't go in but can and are filled with antiques of all different varieties. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the chaos that is The Olde General Store. It was neat to look around though and see all the offerings. I loved some of the old farm tools and wished I was more artsy to create some neat repurposed projects but alas walked out with my bank account still intact.

The store is rather large and has several artists Whose woodwork and other crafts is featured in the store and sold for them. They have all kinds of cool and unique items in this store that vary in price depending on the artist. Some are rather high and others are fair priced. I personally walked away with two items form two different artists on my trip here. I purchased a university of louisville license plate decoration for my self and Burbon Barrel university of Kentucky coat rack for my brothers Christmas present. Overall I really enjoyed This shop. Was a fun browse and the lady working was very friendly and personable. They have lots of cool Bourbon Barrel decor and lots of cool university of Kentucky and Lousiville decor as well for the local college sports fans.

Artists Barrel is easily located on North 3rd Street, just a couple of storefronts north of East Flaget Sreet. With parking plentiful and short walking distance from all points downtown -- bars, restaurants, and all, you can come to Artists Barrel for various odds and ends-type of purchases. In my visit to the Artists Barrel, I bought Kentucky hats for my Dad and Stepmother, a Kentucky hanging ornament and a bourbon scented candle for my Mom, and a pair of bourbon boxers for my Aunt. It was quite a joyous morning considering I was hoping to do all of my souvenir shopping at one spot and did so at Artists Barrel successfully. Growing up in Indiana I had lots of friends that owned Vettes and some that supplied parts to the factory and even some worked at the plant. So showing off merchandise is a must if you own one in my opinion. The store is located in the Bowling Green museum. Try to think of everything imaginable with Corvette logos on it and they have it. And we have never lived in KY- we have always traveled to Bowling Green specifically to buy these candles or we order them and have them shipped to us. I am not lying when I say we love these candles. We buy them for our home and for gifts a few times a year. They last a long time, the scent fills our entire home beautifully, there are plenty of scents to choose from, and they burn very clean. The jars keep, also, and you can take them back in to be reused or repurpose to use them for something else. My favorite scent is the honeysuckle. My husband loves oak moss and kudzu. The blue bayou is a favorite, also! Baja cactus is lovely. We love the different sizes that the shop offers for the candles but the mason jars and the wooden wick ones are amazing. The shop also has plenty of other things to shop for- home decor, local treats and goodies, soaps, etc. There's something for everyone! And the location is perfect (right on the historic square). I definitely like shopping at the post exchange mainly for tax purposes. (Items are tax free) but…read morethey definitely have a few restaurants in here that a run quality and make good food. Mostly fast food stuff like Subway and Popeyes. But they're not bad. I have definitely noticed that since I was a child 20 years ago the price of items at the exchange has really increased from being a super good deal to fairly lower than Walmart or maybe even more expensive than Walmart so it's kind of a letdown but it's not terrible and they have all right quality. I'll go back for sure. Often times including this location the staff are very friendly and the facility is clean you definitely don't have to worry about getting shot in the parking lot.
