I have been shopping at this Food Lion for 3+ years since I moved to Creedmoor, and my partner has…read morebeen even longer, and I'm not sure what's going on but there has been a noticeable drop in quality over the summer. The selection has always been limited, and I expect that from a small town Food Lion, but I used to at least be able to go here and stock up on staples that don't need to be fancy. Now I'm frustrated to the point where I don't even feel like it's worth my time to do that. I no longer purchase much fresh fruit here, because what's on the floor is moldy or clearly about to go moldy any second. I got burned more than once this year buying strawberries that looked iffy but still ok (because that was all they had), only to get them out of the fridge the next morning to find the container full of mold. I've also had issues with shelved food, such as chocolate bars that I opened to find had clearly completely melted at some point. Today, I ended up leaving again without items on my shopping list, because everything they had out was spoiled. Bunches of cilantro with all the leaves blackened and slimy, moldy and mushy onions, beef that has turned totally gray in the packaging, and no distilled water left on the shelf. It also seems like a lot of the regular employees I had gotten used to seeing are no longer there. To me, it seems like a serious management problem that needs to be addressed ASAP.

Sue hit the nail on the head with this store, although she was far too kind in her star rating…read more Creedmoor has two options for grocery stores - Food Lion and Food Lion. The next option is about 15 miles out of town. I'm a steak and potatoes kind of person and I've been spoiled up in NoVA and New York by places like Wegmans and Martin's (taking after the Wegmans model with its latest stores). I could go to the meat counter and get custom cuts if I wanted them. Then I moved to Creedmoor, NC. Even my last visit to this Food Lion, I went in to find what was on sale in the meat department, specific cuts of steaks. There was very little to be found, and what was there I wasn't willing to buy - thin steaks or extremely poor quality (old) meat. Nobody was willing to pay attention from the meat service dept. What is even more exasperating is the prices - Food Lion further north was known for being a bit on the inexpensive side, but here it seems like the priciest (and only) game around. I'll travel to Raleigh to do my grocery shopping and avoid this place if at all possible. My only visits now are if I'm in a pinch for a specific ingredient.

In Durham, our go-to Harris Teeter is on the one on 54, but we happened to be on Ninth Street…read moreeating at Juju so we stopped by this location to pick up a couple groceries before heading home. Based on my single visit to this location, it seems bigger and a little bit nicer than the Harris Teeter we normally go to. It also seems better stocked. We picked up a 10-oz box of Fresh Express 50/50 Mix of spring mix and spinach ($4.99) and a 48-oz container of Harris-Teeter-cut watermelon chunks ($5.00). It rang up to $10.19 after tax and using my wife's Kroger Plus membership (VIC customer), she got double fuel points for the month. The store was clean and on a Wednesday evening around 7:30pm, most of the clientele appeared to be Duke students. Not surprising considering Duke East Campus is just two blocks away. This Harris Teeter has both a Starbucks and a pharmacy inside. This is Harris Teeter store #394 and you can find it at the Shops at Erwin Mill at the corner of Hillsborough Rd and 9th St in Old West Durham. This is a relatively busy area.

What I recommend: Avoid ordering cakes from this location…read more We ordered a sheet cake from the Harris Teeter bakery for a veterans dinner this past weekend to celebrate and honor those who served. Unfortunately, what we received was extremely disappointing. The cake was poorly decorated and looked like very little effort or care went into it. When we brought it up to the baker, she brushed us off and said we could request a refund if we wanted, but that she wouldn't do anything to fix it. The event was only two hours away, and thankfully, the amazing staff at the Whole Foods bakery stepped in and helped us get cakes for 67 people with just an hour's notice. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend this Harris Teeter location for cakes, especially if you need something that looks even halfway presentable.

Luke, who is a great employee, was running the register, so Jim could have done it. The last two times I was at this store within the past 2 weeks, a young great manager filled the balloons for me at the same hour. I love this store but I don't think Jim is a quality manager after watching his work ethics.

(The price was $10.00 with the VIC card and $18.00 without it). I was bummed.. As I was patiently waiting for another cashier to get change to break my twenty dollar bill, I realized that my mother shops here quite frequently. So I asked if she is able to look up a phone number so I'd be able to save money. She replies, "I've already scanned the fruit tart.." I said, "oh, so you can't rescan it and allow me to use the VIC card?" And that was that! She handed me the two dollars in change.. and after a few second stare, I walked out the store. It's not the end of the world.. but I had paid almost double the price all because the lady was not willing to cancel the transaction, and rescan it for me. During the time we were awkwardly waiting might I add. ERRRR!!
