Who doesn't love Toms. Staff is SUPER HELPFUL and the owner is on site most days. Selection is always good for what the store is. If your looking for name brands this isn't the place, but if your intending to spread your dollar around a bit, this is your spot. Always a great value and super close to us here in Amesbury. This local business has been serving the community for many years and always has great merchandise, prices and plenty of variety. Went today and was very kindly asked if I needed help by the owner? Manager? nice guy anyway. At checkout asked to buy bags of mulch that were outside and a woman up front immediately called for mulch help and a man came right up to the front of the store to come out to out in my car. (Ps I'm not elderly so especially nice) You'll find everything from Larry supplies, gift wrap, cards, storage bins, household items, gifts, office supplies, pet supplies, food and even clothes. Soooooo sorry.... But I'd be fibbing if I gave Tom's more than 2 stars. Believe me as a former business owner I do my very best to shop local. I've stopped in several times and it just doesnt work for me. Dollartee which is now in practically a kiddie corner location is cleaner, brighter It has much more variety & quality items than Tom's. read more

I stopped into buy some wrapping paper, a couple of small gift bags and 2 bungee cords. When I got wrung up, I thought the cashier said $13. total, which sorta of makes sense for what I bought. I took my bag home and left it till the next morning when I checked the bag. My total was $30.? I was charged $8.99 for each small gift bag. When I looked at the receipt it stated that I bought 2 craft kits..not so, just 2 small gift bags. Now what makes me anxious is they do not have refunds, just exchanges, not a good policy to begin with. I 'm hoping I get my $19.00 overcharge refunded to my account, Im not returning or exchanging, I just what the error corrected. They are closed for the holiday ,so Im hoping Monday brings me success. I can't believe how many of my go-to places I find that I haven't reviewed. Add Tom's to that list! Unless I am heading up to the beach for a day of sunbathing, Tom's is going to be a pit stop. When I just need some odd thing that I can't find at a "mart" store, Tom's is my place. When my friend got married a few years ago and made her own centerpieces, Tom's had the seashells way cheaper than anyone else. She also snagged a few other parts that she needed. Tom's is great for things like candles, party supplies, plastic storage and foil pans. Some of their items are super cheap and look it. Specifically things like shower curtains and towels. They'll do you but not for long. Tom's is a great place to putz and find stuff you didn't even know you needed! Have been going here for years. They have their staple products like storage bins, greeting cards, candles, picture frames, party supplies, tools, pet supplies, variety of candy, toys, scrapbook needs, and kitchen & bathroom necessities. Then comes their seasonal items such as holiday items, summer inflatables & beach items, gardening supplies & seeds, and back to school needs. Lastly is their 99 cent table that is filled with all items that are only 99 cents. Items ranging from magnets to gas grille lighters. The owners are always looking to help support the surrounding community and schools. Their children are Triton alumni and they give a scholarship each year to a Triton grad. read more

They have some good sales in here but the employees are just too close to you and they always think you are trying to steal something or shop lift when I'm just browsing around the store. I don't understand the reasoning behind this motive but unless they usually have issues with shoplifting. It's not really the best experience dealing with that. When I shop at Tom's I almost always find at least one item that I didn't know that I needed until I saw it. Major categories are Kitchen items, cleaning supplies, plastic storage containers, and tools. There are bargains: A few months ago a 4pk of energy efficient lightbulbs was $1.99, and on Amazon the same ones were $20.00. Stock varies, and they don't always have everything in stock, but the selection is usually good, and many things return eventually. If one keeps an open mind and enjoys browsing, it's a great place to find a bargain. read more

I love this store. Period. Love the party supplies, storage, and seasonal supplies. Everyone pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend.

It's set up as a quaint little discount center but the stuff is so badly/cheaply made that a dollar plus tax is a rip off. Not much selection either, couldn't even find a box of markers! Lots of trump merchandise for the mentally challenged seniors that drop by..and those are pretty much the only demographic that's welcome there. If anybody under the age of 60 walks in,they'll give you the stink eye and follow you around. Heaven forbid you bring a child in there, then they REALLY get their depends in a bunch. Stick with the dollar store, this place is ridiculous. read more

I shop here at least once a month, and always buy at least 2 or 3 things. Good place for vases, candles, tools. I do miss the furniture outlet store they had a number of years ago, but Tom's is still a great place to go! read more

Very neat to shop there. All sorts of household items and beach things. The prices are very reasonable. The workers and store owners are very accommodating. I will always check there for hard to find items. I have done comparison shopping and Tom's prices are way lower than any place else ..Tom's is a great place for pet supplies. We have dogs and cats and their merchandise is just what we have needed at a very reasonable price. read more

I've lived in this area for 20 years, and Tom's is still my go-to place when it comes to greeting cards (2 for $1), party goods, scrapbooking paper, toys, gifts and especially trinkets for the kids. Way cheaper than Walmart when it comes to most of these items, and very convenient parking. And very community-minded; they helped a family who faced foreclosure by allowing them to hold a yard sale on their premises. Give them a shot! read more

Hey ...I've been shopping here for quite a while now.....I really like this store....the prices are great, and , I'm sorry for those who don't the quality........it's not Macy's and doesn't pretend to be......but I bought garden planter more than half the cost of home depot and Lowes and similar if not better quality and selection.....The party section and area with rubbermaid storage containers is UNBELIEVABLE.........I reorganized my garage for cheap money and good quality.....the tools do the trick.....they're not Craftsman but they're great when you need something in a pinch..........I'd give it a 5 except they're not the greatest about returns....... read more

I have been shopping at Tom's for years, I have spent hundreds of dollars every years, I am in the store all the time fabulous items can't beat the prices. I did read a womans blog and had a similiar situation as she did, I found a mat for the beach that was priced $1.99 when I got to the register the lady said that's not the correct price I said but that is what it is marked, she called the owner over and he accused me of changing the price, and then said to me did you buy candy that was $1.99 maybe the sticker went on the mat. I was so insulted that it almost brought me to tears. IO told him I shop here all the time and spend lots of money here I'm not about to change a sticker. I swore I would never go back but the items are such a good buy I just ignore the owner but it is too bad someone in his family or other workers don't try to correct his behavior.
