I have been going to Tommy's for over seven years. I am a local. I don't think their price gouging is cheaper sometimes for me to go to Blue Jay's then down to San Bernardino. There is the sweetest little girl that works for them. Every time I go she is peppy sweet helpful and I just enjoy going there just to see her. read more

I agree with the review by E.B. The woman who opened the store at 10 a.m. unlocked it but just walked away, not opening the door for me. She was not pleasant at the register either. She showed no sign of compassion or empathy when I mentioned my dog was old and has congestive heart failure. I was told they had a high calorie product. They were out. The staff is outstanding, and the people are genuinely amazing. When I walked in, the manager was engaged in conversation with a woman and then a man, and I was impressed by her dedication to go out of her way to order something special for him that they didn't have in stock. Everyone I've spoken to is knowledgeable about pets and animals, which is incredibly refreshing. Thank you, Tommy's Pet Studio, for being the go-to place on the mountain for our pets. I just want to say everyone here is always so incredibly nice and helpful. I called the other day to see if they had diapers for a dog because my dog unexpectedly went into heat ( a day before she was supposed to get fixed go figure!) I think she could tell how frantic I was and kept me on the phone long enough to tell me how to measure my dog and everything I would need to pick the right diaper. When I walked in a dark haired woman with a scowl on her face greeted me with nothing, I felt so uncomfortable she was useless and unpleasant. Her hair was up and she wore glasses and I'm pretty sure her name was "Karen" it was my first time in the store and my last. She did not greet me or say thank you for my purchase. They also price gouge because they are the only pet store around. So many unpleasant people have businesses in this area and are rude and disrespectful and unprofessional. read more

I usually only review when things go wrong. This is my first positive review. Sometime you have to acknowledge the good. This is the best pet store in the world. The owner goes far beyond the call of duty. I needed puppy pads and due to pandemic supply and personnel issues they ran out. I was desperate as I had to go away over night and needed them badly. It would have been a 45 minute drive to San Bernardino to get them. The owner actually went home and brought me a sealed bag of large pads from her personal supply which she gave me free of charge (I tried to pay she wouldn't take the money). This type of care and concern is absolutely unheard of up here. Generally business owners up here don't realize the value of local business, tourists get the attention. She deserves 10 stars I can only give her 5. Keep up the great work. read more

Thank you, Lisa! I have a service dog with some skin allergies. Lisa sat down with me for a free consultation and took her time explaining what she would do for my girl and the products she would be using. Just before I moved up here my girl had a bad experience with a groomer and had some fears, so Lisa made our appointment time longer so she had time to put my girl at ease. We just had our second appointment, and my pup LOVE Lisa. She is happy, healthy, and feeling great after her "spa day". Lisa does great work (not fast, because that's how dogs get traumatized) so book ahead of time and know that your pup will receive her full attention and focus. She can also teach you how to properly file nails in between if you want to DIY it, or does nail filing on site in between appointments. If you want to know that your dog is getting the proper attention, is fully rinsed and brushed out, and is treated right, call Lisa! read more

I went in to make a purchase at Tommy's and the two employees were deep in conversation. They did not acknowledge me. I had to ask if I could purchase the product at the counter and asked for the price. After a few moments, the young man looked at me blankly, scanned the product, and gave me the price. The woman behind the counter with him continued her "personal" conversation with the man. The transaction took a long time because I was apparently interrupting their personal conversation. They were extremely rude, and I will not return. Due to the employees ' rudeness, I will have to find another pet store that is out of my way. read more

I do not recommend this place because the staff is cold and rude. My dog gets very stressed out when she goes to grooming or vet and the groomer had a hard time walking her to the back because she is big and was shaking and was scared to walk with her. This rude groomer lady told me I have no control over my dog and that she wouldn't trim her nails.. My dog just gets scared..I've been to many different groomers before with her and no one treated me or my dog the way this staff did. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.. awful rude service! read more

While their grooming staff is very nice, the girl behind the counter is a mess. She was downright rude, paying more attention to a customer's dog than she was to the customers. They carry my brand of pet food, but it's priced nearly twice what I pay for it down the hill. If you want local business, start by treating your customers right and then, lower your prices. Even with gas factored in, it's cheaper down the hill and the people are nicer! Don't waste your time on this place. read more

Oh wow! If you need a smile or a friendly chat, the folks here will certainly share one with you. Amazing, friendly and helpful is an understatement. They were knowledgeable about the food, toys, and care products they carry. They listened to my pets needs and adequately assisted me to the best possible solutions. My pets have never been happier! I'm happy they cared for the well being of my furry family members. Cost-wise: you will pay a little more, but hardly enough you would notice after the amazing customer service they offer. I purchased a bird feeder that stated"satisfaction guaranteed";however, it broke due to a large bird. When we went to return it, the person told us that the manager will be in on Saturday and will take care of us. No problem. Therefore, we drove back there today and were not happy with services. We were rudely (no understanding) told that we need to contact the maker not her. So here we are with a broken piece of junk. I will never go there again. I've been going here for about 3 years now and it's pleasure to shop for my pet and birding needs here. What really puts them on top is bringing our pets in there. It's gotten to the point where our dog recognizes this place and is off the scale with excitement when we pull in the parking lot. There are treats or two for the best behaved dogs!!! I don't compare prices to down the hill, there is no comparison. Small shop, great people, respectable prices. It's a bonus that there is grooming in back!!! I've used the grooming service 2-3 times for nail trimming and am very happy with the gal who runs it. So??? She's confident and proud she's been doing that for a few years, that's a bonus to me!!!! We were off for a weekend to Big Bear when we realized we forgot our dog's food. Hans is a super picky eater and will only eat Stella and Chewies. After trying a few other places that didn't have much, we stumbled on Tommy's, right outside of Lake Arrowhead in Blue Jay. What a surprise this place is! They carried Stella and Chewies and other higher end brands like Origen with a decent selection of toys and treats (blue buffalo and Paragon) too. Sad that Michelle left, Michelle was an awesome groomer and had such a positive atmosphere each & every time for the past several years we've gone to her. The new groomer is on a power trip with a poor attitude. I don't need to know how long you've been grooming, just that you care enough about my dog to do a good job. I've got friends & family who need dog grooming services that I used to recommend here, but after two encounters (was hoping the first time was just a bad day) with this woman, Lisa, I'm done! Now going to Crestline's Head to Tail salon made making an appointment painfree and didn't involve some bullshit story telling when doing so! Love this place. Staff is GREAT! I have 4 chihuahuas and 2 labs. They love the duck feet which are priced right! Some chews for large dogs run $12.00 and up so, I'm still working on that one BUT, my small dogs got their Halloween costumes there during a GREAT sale. The specialty foods are great because Rite Aid and Staters don't carry the higher end dog foods and my dogs can get fat fast so, thank goodness. Plus, most dog food vendors have a buy 10- get one free type of program and the staff is great in keeping track of my purchases. Love this place. read more

Nice staff. Helpful. Easy transactions, no complaints. Small shop that does a great job of stocking most things you could need for all kinds of pets. I very decent selection of quality dog foods. If you are here and need anything for your non-people babies, go get it here, they will have something that fits the bill. Winter note: is you best buddy cold? Probably. Go get them a hoody and make um feel special. Awesome hoodies for dogs, they love em! Only complaint for me would be the larger than usual markup on inventory, for dog kibble in specific. Sometimes it works that way shopping on the mountain we pay a penalty price ($15-$20 more per large format bag) for not buying our goods down the hill and trying to support local businesses. I'm positive it isn't the extra cost of gas for delivery that drive the prices so high, it's a business choice up here called "because we can". read more

I went into Tommy's Pet Studio for the first time last week in search of something to help my dog who hasn't been feeling well. I normally would go down the hill to Petsmart but didn't have the time to. And I am SO thankful I did!!! I was immediately greeted with a warm smile from the lady working in the store. She asked how I was doing and if there was anything she could help me with. I explained what has been going on with my Corgi lately to see what I should do. Kirsten not only listened to my long story, but actually asked more questions about his symptoms to make sure she fully understood what the problem was. She truly seemed to care about me and my fur baby. She recommended a few things; one being a probiotic and another was a better quality food than what I was feeding him. Not once did I feel like she was being a salesperson and trying to push something I didn't need on me. Kirsten was very knowledgable and genuine. I fully recommend going to Tommy's for your pets needs. I'm happy to report my Corgi, Marley, is doing much better. I called to see if they carry a brand of cat food I need. The phone was never answered and after numerous rings the call was just dropped. So I called back. A female answered...sounded young. I asked if they carried that brand and her voice indicated she didn't know. I could tell she was walking down the aisles as she was saying "Weeeeee dooooo .......not" then she said "wait" and after a few seconds I was hung up on. NOT calling back a third time. read more
