She caught their expressions and emotions and the important moments in their lives. And not just wedding moments. Rachel spans the gap in her photography and has a very diverse portfolio of many different life moments. She is able to work with people of all ages and in all stages of their life and help them capture where they are at that moment. I really like her work. For our wedding, my fiancé and I decided that beyond table arrangements and flower bouquets, we wanted to remember the people around us and the feeling of our day, and that is why we chose Rachel. Don't get me wrong, I wanted "The Dress" photo, (and I got it =)) but more than that, I wanted good pictures of my sometimes not-so-photogenic family. Rachel nailed it. All of it. Rachel was able to capture moments that I didn't see that day and make me feel like I was there as they were playing out. She extended my wedding day! What you can't see in her portfolio is how wonderful she is to work with. Professional, personable, friendly, FUN. She came into the room where I was getting ready with my mom, sister, aunts and bridesmaid's and she just fit in. One of my girlfriends said that it felt like she was just one of us, which she was for that day, and which I have now learned is how she get's the best people shots. People feel comfortable around her. Two days after our wedding, Rachel sent us a sneak peak of our photo's. 10 days later, we had at least a thousand amazing shots in our possession. I was blown away. I have heard stories of people who wait months to get their wedding photo's and then have 300 terrible shots delivered. This was the exact opposite of my experience. Rachel was combing through her negatives during dinner. When she could have been taking a break, she was there working, sifting through thousands of outtakes to deliver us only the best shots. After being around Rachel at my wedding and seeing my photo's, one of my bridesmaids hired Rachel to shoot her wedding the following summer (See VH's review). She loves her photo's. My cousin also tried to book her for his wedding last fall, but she was already booked that weekend. Which brings me to my last point, If you like her work, book her fast! She is one of the best investments you will make. Wedding photo's last a lifetime; Make sure you have photo's that you want hanging around ;-) I am SO pleased with all of my wedding photo's. I want Rachel to capture all the important moments in my life.

Let me just put it out there - Kate's an excellent photographer and we loved her…read more So now that we got the most important stuff out in the open, let me add a little more meat to this review. My better half had found Kate on Instagram and liked what she saw. She showed me and I genuinely liked some of the pictures. The pictures were...better. Had more of a real feel to them. Not that "here we are, oh so happy, rainbows and sparkles" type stuff you see almost everywhere. It seemed like *gasp* folks were actually having a good time. So she convinced me to line up a date for a one hour shoot, to look semi-presentable (coastal mountain town chic?) and then work got in the way. Kate was contacted and immediately rolled with the punches. We rescheduled and on the second try we met her. Kate is definitely someone who is engaging, sincere, makes you feel comfortable, knows how to capture the candid and staged moments, and has an innate understanding of how the whole session needs to flow. At one point our baby son decided he'd had enough of all the action and needed to be breastfed. Right then and there. So we plopped down, freed the nipple, and he was fed. Kate took some cool pics of that too and you know what? It was so natural and sweet...we'll cherish that moment for life. Time flew by and within a little over an hour we were done. She'd managed to take wonderful pictures of us as a family, including our four-legged beast, and individual ones of us each with our son. To say that I'm a tough one to convince to spend free time getting pictures taken would likely be an understatement but I'm now firmly onboard with Kate's methodology and would do it again. It seemed that several were inexperienced or others weren't available for our date. Lisa responded very promptly and laid out everything I'd need to know about her services. She had an extensive portfolio and a lot of suggestions. Our engagement photos are the best photos I've ever seen of myself or my husband and we will treasure those forever. Lisa suggested exactly where to go and selected four beautiful spots in Rocky Mountain National Park. She handled everything once we arrived. Her suggestions for backdrops, lighting, clothes, and poses were so helpful for two people who would rather not be in the limelight. She also guided my rather grumpy husband who would have preferred a hike to a photo shoot. She also captured beautiful photos of our dog/fur baby whom we adore. The photos were stunning and we received them just weeks afterward. Lisa navigated our wedding day flawlessly. She overcame all of the awkward family dynamics and somehow made it all work.
