Took us a while to figure out where we were and how to get there. Actually not hard at all. We arrived and it was very crowded. Luckily we got a seat in the corner by a window close to the action(the kitchen where the pizzas were cooked). A few slices of focaccia were served with olive oil prior to our pizza and its was wonderful. Then the main event arrived and it was beautiful. And it tasted equally as great. The sausage pizza with arugula. It was awesome. Might want to make a reservation for this great place. Its is very popular. Highly recommend the sausage pizza.

While there is seating outside, it was far too chilly for that! The menu we looked at said to order at the counter, but we were intercepted by a friendly young lass who led us to a seat and took our order. There's quite an extensive pizza menu. You can get your traditional pizzas, I went the hawaiian, but got chicken added, but also a lot that aren't so traditional. I'm keen to try the greek lamb with tzatziki, fetta, etc. Well, our pizzas were delicious, and reasonably priced. I should be coming here when I am craving pizzas! Ambience is a tough one here. There happened to be a large and boisterously loud family in at the same time, so it was a little difficult to hear ourselves over them. If it was full of such families, you'd probably need to scream to be heard, it's only a little venue. That said, a few quiet couples talking over their meal, and it'd be quite an intimate little setting. They also do take away.

I like this place for pizza. To be honest, 'gourmet' is probably taking it a bit too far. In fact,…read morewhat I like about Meltz pizzas are their old-school, local pizza joint style. These pizzas remind me of the pizza of my childhood. Before Australian's realised that pizza dough is actually meant to be thin, and that pineapple probably isn't authentic, we enjoyed what I will call faux-talian food. And, sure, it's not super authentic or gourmet, but I think we can all agree that it's tasty. So, yep, Meltz probably isn't gourmet but it hits the spot. And with pizzas like 'Beefy' (marinated beef strips, bacon, onion, and BBQ sauce), 'Prawn Harvest' (marinated tiger prawns, garlic, Greek herbs, and tzatziki), and 'Smoked Salmon' (smoked salmon, capers, pepper, Italian herbs, and tzatziki) authenticity isn't the name of the game here. But if, like me, you considered Italian and Faux-talian cuisines within their own right, and sometimes enjoy pineapple on pizza, beetroot on a burger, or tomato sauce on anything then Meltz will offer you a tasty, pizza-shaped slice of nostalgia.

The crowd trended older than my usual hangouts. The quattro formaggi I had included an excellent mix of nuanced, delicately flavored cheeses over barely noticeable sauce. The toppings are fresh and you get that unbeatable wood fired taste and aroma. Crunchy and rich in flavour. They have banquets available which I plan on trying in a few weekends time. I went with a Funghi, which is usually a risky order as I like mushrooms but white pizzas can be bland. But this was a really good mushroom pizza, perhaps the best of its ilk I've had. The mushrooms were varied in character and cooked to a point of desirable softness, and some onions and creative cheese mixing kept the whole thing quite lively. The crust bubbled up in a way that was almost, dare I say, American. Their menu is limited and their prices substantial, but it was tasty enough that I would definitely want to come back again for a red pizza.
