I can't complain about the vibes because she seated us outside and we were the only ones there so it was peaceful! The view was gorgeous. The spaghetti was a tad too salty in my opinion. The shrimp scampi wasn't special. All meats were cooked properly! The Borolo was the best dish of the three. The meat was tender and flavorful. Solid portions. Decent service. Eh food. If you are looking for Italian on the Kiawah Golf Resort, Tomasso is your place. It is priced higher than its quality in my opinion. They try to make up for quality by providing a large portion, at least when it came to the chicken parm. You can get away with less formal dress. You'll also get prompt service. I highly recommend Tomasso! They were so kind to squeeze our big party in (4 adults, 4 kids, 1 baby) very last minute because we had not made a reservation, and while it is very formal dining- they also have a kids menu and are family friendly! I highly recommend dining on the porch- it's a beautiful view! The review from the adults was that the kids cheese pizza was fantastic! I also recommend the garlic bread- that was PHENOMENAL!! I also got the calamari, short rib bolognese (delicious!!), and the scallop gnocchi. The scallop dish was quite pricey and I'm not a huge fan of gnocchi but it would be a winner if you already like gnocchi! The mushrooms and scallops were great! Overall the service was fantastic (they were SO fast with the kids meals) and I loved the tiramisu dessert! read more

Food was eh and very overpriced for the quality. Tomato sauce reminded me of Classico brand sold at Costco. Pasta also tasted store bought. Service was great and staff took calamari off bill after concerns it wasn't cooked right. Spaghetti, and chicken parm were large portions and just ok. Pizza was small for $20+. Nice restaurant within Kiawah Golf Resort . Because the target audience is golfers expect to see a mix of dress between golf casual to business casual . The restaurant offers both indoor and patio seating and also has a space dedicated to the bar area that is separate from the dining room. We opted to sit at the bar and enjoyed the golf course views. The bar staff was friendly , efficient and accommodating . The menu did not have bruschetta but upon my request , the kitchen gladly accommodated and prepared us the most delicious classic bruschetta , it was delicious ! We also ordered the calamari which I was not a fan of due to the whole pieces of squid - we prefer the ring slices instead of whole squid so keep this in mind if you choose to order - there aren't many rings. For entrees we ordered "Nona's spaghetti and meatballs" which featured hand rolled meatballs , tomato pomodoro with grated Parmesan . We also ordered the shrimp linguini which came in a white wine butter sauce - both were delicious and filling ! Definitely a solid choice for an Italian meal within Kiawah Golf Resort . Food here was fine to pretty good. Both my partner and I loved the calamari and the Caesar salad. I got chicken parm - which was totally fine and he got the orchiette which was pretty great. Another in our party got the risotto which I'd recommend. Des was our server - she did a great job with what we needed - and we felt very welcome on a cooler rainy night. Tomasso is a must do when staying at The Sanctuary. We dined on mussels, chicken piccata, and ricotta gnocchi with Calabrian chilis and a white truffle cream sauce. So delicious!!! Not great. We had dinner there last night. My son had the spaghetti and meatballs; it tasted at the same quality as my school cafeteria. I got the orichiette and again it was clear that the quality of the ingredients were poor. Nothing tasted fresh. I'm honestly surprised Kiawah allows food of this low caliber on their property. The prices were much higher than they should be for the quality of the food. Honestly though I was underwhelmed with almost every meal on their property. Tomasso~ one of the Kiawah Island Resort's restaurants ~ offers old world style Italian dishes and pizzas but also incorporates Lowcountry locally sourced ingredients. The menu at Tomasso changes seasonally so check their website. Resort pricing here so not inexpensive. The Signature dishes include the hand rolled and homemade pastas. The selection of salads are unique and salmon, shrimp or chicken can be added if you choose to add some protein. The environment has a traditional golf club "clubby feel" with dark oak woods, vintage style sofas, bookcases and tables. The outdoor dining "veranda area" would be particularly appealing on a warm Southern evening. These tables have views of the 1st, 10th and 18th holes. There is a bar and grill area at Tomasso with a sizable bar and additional tables located to the left of the Hostess Stand.....great for lunch, drinks or snacks or for a fast "pit stop""and conversation after your golf round. Dinner is also served here as well. Tomasso can be found housed in The Turtle Point Clubhouse in East Beach. Lunch and Dinner. As it was a quiet night there was only one server in the Grill Room and the service was friendly and efficient. Wonderful dinner. Great service, and menu selection. Lots of gluten free options, including pasta. I tried the grouper with risotto and it was amazing. Was surprised they brought fresh gluten free bread rolls to the table along with regular rolls for the other guests. My son tried the pizza napolitana and loved it. We ate outside on the deck - which was nice. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ended up with a late reservation due to the size of our group (8), and it seems that the bugs...and four legged furry creatures come out in abundance then. When we asked about the mice scurrying across the deck - we were told the resort is 'green' - I will note they did not come near us/table but were about 8ft away. First time for everything... Onto the drinks and food! I ordered a gin cocktail that was purple and delicious! For appetizers we ordered the burrata, Romano pizza, and the roasted garlic bread - all were very tasty! For dinner I had the local catch - which was mahi mahi. The fish was cooked appropriately and the vegetables were tasty. Overall a good, but not great, dish. Others at the table ordered the tagliatelle and noted it was really good. If I return here would likely go with one of the pasta dishes instead. read more

An excellent experience on Christmas Eve for their Feast of the Seven Fishes. Five very nice courses, paired with wines. Everything was enjoyable and the service was very prompt, efficient and cordial. The tomato broth in the Low Country Seafood Stew was the star of the show with great support my the mussels and octopus. A spoon was also needed for the Butter Poached Lobster's broth-- you'd want every drop. The Tuna Carpaccio with pistachios was bright and a great start to the dinner. This is from our experience, We got takeout pizza tonight, and two desserts, total was $76. The pizza was barely edible. The crust was burnt, and somehow the cheese was undercooked. To be honest, it was worse than frozen pizza. I've never seen a pizza burnt and undercooked at the same time. I strongly recommend you avoid this place at all cost. read more

Unfortunately the problem of lack of staff seems to have hit Kiawah Island as well. We had a reservation and waited past our reservation time to be seated, presumably due to a lack of servers. The hostess sat us and brought us some water, but we waited 20 minutes before our server ever came to our table to take our order. The wait gave us plenty of time to people watch, but it soured our mood a bit. Once I waved down someone to bring us an appetizer of garlic bread things got a bit better. I had the vegetarian lasagna which was delicious. We also ordered the cacio e pepe which didn't have much flavor before adding more cheese and red pepper flakes. They did provide a small discount for our meal because of the very long wait... I added a star for that. They do have the porch open for seating, do reserve it for a great evening view. read more

It was a great quiet evening, with soothing music in the background! The whipped ricotta is absolutely delicious! The TAGLIATELLE was quite tasty, however I didn't taste the flavor of the crab as I would've liked. It has lemon caper sauce, which was a bit overpowering in regards to the crab flavor. The artichokes, eggplant, tomatoes and peppers were absolutely delicious!! Hearty portions! Was a bit disappointed with the tiramisu as it tasted a bit coconutty. For a 5 star restaurant I was shocked to see how many spelling errors are on the menu. The italian language never has a single t... so it's "Quattro" not "quatro" like it is written on the menu. On vacation, this was one of a handful of restaurants open Thanksgiving Eve. Service was excellent. Kadesha took good care of us. Nice ambiance. Every dish from appetizers to entrees was fresh, tasted homemade, and beautiful presentations. Fried seafood platter for appetizer: indescribably good.
